I am a thief
JP&KJMOM wrote: OMG I had to go pick up some groceries on my way home and stopped at Walmart. Well, as usual here they only open 2 lanes on each end so I did self checkout even though I had quiet a bit of stuff. So I got done and paid and went to my car. As I unloaded all my groceries into my Tahoe I looked down and realized I had an eight pack of paper towels on the bottom of the cart that I did not pay for.
SO what did I do?
Loaded them and came home! Would you have gone back in?
CantWait replied: Yes I would have
PrairieMom replied: I did that with a pack of batteries. They were under my purse and I didn't see them until I was loading the Jeep. I went back in, did the self check out and paid for them. I have also accidentally stollen a hat from "The childrens place" Some how it had gotten behind The Boy in the stroller and I didn't see it until I was putting him in his car seat. i loaded him back up in the stroller and walked all the way through the mall to return it.
MyLuvBugs replied: Hmmmm.....toughy I'm probably going to say NO I wouldn't go all the way back in right away. I'd probably put them in my car, get in and then sit there and feel quilty for awhile. Probably a long while, and then I'd drive home. Much like you did I'm sure.
I don't know...It's such a moral dilemma. It's like the story of the kid that found the wallet of money....Do you take it to the police, or keep it?
Boys r us replied: Of course the correct answer would be, YES..I would march right back in and pay for them..but a car full of groceries and 2 kids in tow..my honest answer is NO.. No I would not go back in there, I would justify it in my head by telling myself I just spent $300 bucks in there..they can surely give me $3 dollars in "rebates".
Now..no I would never intenionally steal.
3xmommy replied: I must be awful.
If it were me, as long as it wasn't anything high priced, I'd say to heck with it and go on home.
Those paper towels couldn't have costed more than 1-3 bucks so I wouldn't worry myself too much.
*hugs*
blue72 replied: I would have left without going back in to pay for the item. I would feel guilty for a second. It was a low priced item. Not sure what my threshold would be. I guess it would all depend on the day and the mood I was in. Walmart isn't going to go broke on a package of paper towels. With that said, I would pay for the item if I where in a small store which probably struggles to make ends meet (my local grocery store).
kit_kats_mom replied: any place other than walmart & I probably would have taken them back. It takes a lot of motivation to get me to even walk through those doors. I don't think I would willingly walk through them more than the required in and out...even if I was a theif. LOL
CosmetologyMommy replied: That happened to me with some cases of pop before and I just went home...........
mckayleesmom replied: I have accidentally done this myself and NO..I didn't go back in. FOR SHAME. I did however take Mckaylee back in the store and pay for a pack of gum she stole one time.
MommyToAshley replied: I accidentally forgot to pay for a case of cola on the bottom of my cart one time... I went back inside, to the cashier, and told her that I wasn't charged for it. She told me that I needed to get back in line.... this was at Christmas time and it already took me an hour to get through the line. I just left.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: It takes an act of congress to make me go in Walmart once. No way would I turn around and go back for a $2.96 package of paper towels.
mommymonster replied: Don't beat yourself up too much! Of course the right thing to do would be to go back and pay......but honestly, even those who would say "Well I Never.....", sometimes do and don't tell. You feel bad and that is more than could be said for a lot of people. And I may get verbally attacked on this next comment, and I mean it in a light hearted way If you have already opened the pack and are using them, just put the cost of the paper towels in with your church offering next time you go
holley79 replied: OMG i am just as bad as the rest of you. I wouldn't have. Before I had Annika maybe. But once she's loaded and I start loading the truck that is all she wrote. Not to mention I always have to park out in BFE so nope I would feel guilty about it and probably hear that little voice in my head but I would just tell it to hush. Please don't ever let our children read this.
