MM'sMama wrote: Luci (my cousin) was watching music videos with a friend this this afternoon and OMG! What the heck are they singing about these days ? I cannot believe some of the stuff and I swear the more dirty or silly the song the more her and her friend like it. EWWW! When I mentioned me thoughts on some of the songs they rolled their eyes and told me I don't know good music. Ok. Then a while ago they said they were bored and there was nothing to do at the house. Its cold outside to going outside it out of the question so I said how about skating I'll drop you both off. WOW! I got the have you taken total leave of reality looks. You would have thought I just asked for the world with the looks I got. When the heck did going roller skating become "uncool" we used to always do that when we were young. How sad 20 yrs old and I've lose all touch with reality.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I am right there with ya! Although I listen to some of the same songs that your cousin listens to, but some are just too much!
Roller skating.... yes it is a thing from our childhoods. A thing to laugh and poke fun at for this generation, probably the same way that we laugh at disco or 'going to the hop' from our parents time.
Edward's Mommy replied: Oh!!! I know the feeling!!
CosmetologyMommy replied: From one 20 year old to the next, I thought roller skating was IT. I can remember going every weekend! I even had my birthday parties at the roller rink!
MM'sMama replied: Thank god I am not alone
redchief replied: Now think how I feel.... *sigh*
MM'sMama replied: Hey now Ed you know I didn't mean it like that
CAMSMOM1 replied: The rollar rink was popping man! Remember how you would want to couple skate with the cool boys! Those were the good old days!
What about those songs with the "Grills"! Have you heard of them? These rapers were platinum grills on their teeth! How is that sexy? I rather not be cool, and have normal looking teeth! KWIM? What about the Laffy Taffy song?
C&K*s Mommie replied: I actually like the song "Grillz" and "Laffy Taffy" does not get quite as much airplay as it used to here, but I still like it. For me personally, to wear a set on my teeth... but to each his own. And if I were single and dating, I would stay clear of anyone with them on their teeth. I would prefer that someone is an individual, not someone that is doing what others are doing. That is what I like about mainstream radio, you get a variety of music from the "Grillz" & "Shake That" to "Dance, Dance" & "Dirty Little Secret". I flip constantly because some of the songs are over the top or are more aggravating from repeated play , but I still like variety.
amymom replied: Oh my Me too!!!!
luvbug00 replied: i like todays music .
I like rollerblading , don't they have shoes with skates comming out the bottom? Mya wants a pair of those...
kimberley replied: that is too funny and i am there with you too!!! i do like hip hop but beyond that, i am definitely in the "not cool" zone
C&K*s Mommie replied: I have never been 'cool' & I would not have been comfortable there anyhow, seeing how people that were not "cool" were treated and mocked by those that were.
Crystalina replied: My kids are too young to tell me whether I'm cool or not but I kinda think I am. I love "My Hump" and so do my kids (only the radio version ) and am I the ONLY 30 somthing SAHM who sat on the edge of her seat watching R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet"? I never did see what happend after the cop got home .
We have such a variety in my house. I love country, DH loves Lynrd Skynrd, I also love the oldeis like Elvis and yes...Barry Manilow . I have a huge assortment of musical tunes like "West Side Story" "Grease" and right now I've been killing the kids with "O Brother Where Art Thou". I Love the music in that movie.
CAMSMOM1 replied: I like that song too. It's always in my head.
The other silly song I like is by Gwen Stafani, "B-A-N-A-N-A-S".
luvbug00 replied:
OH ok so the cop gets there and they are all battleing it out and a man walks in the door and he gets shot ( it's the girls brother) and so everyone panics and the cop leaves and The brother ends up being fine because it was like in his arm and I forget the rest.
MM'sMama replied: Yep and I have to admit I don't that that one or Laffy Taffy to me its like they ran out of this to sing about.
I do like a lot of todays music but some of it just WOW! Esp. that lovly lady lumps song . I don't want any man checking out Luci's "lovly lady lumps" or any man checking out mine for that matter but DH.
You ladies crack me up big time.
Chiflata2003 replied: I think skating died for me in middle school. Im almost 22 though so it wasnt that long ago.
