kit_kats_mom replied: Ok, as a former "mall kiosk" co-owner, let me give you a heads up.
We sold laser cut tags that you put on the front of your car. You could order personalized ones etc. I tried to talk my fiance' out of opening a kiosk but he was dead set on it. At our mall, the fee was 1500/mo for the kiosk and a decent spot near the food court. Closer to the food court = more $. During the holidays, the rent went up drastically. Plus, the mall took 15% of the profits after the break point was met. During the holidays (Nov-Jan), that went up to 25%. My ex just sold the business after 8 years and has made a nice living and a tidy profit. I thought that it sounded like highway robbery but the mall is the place to be! If you can get situated near a childrens store, that would be best for your business.
good luck and pm me if you have any specific questions. I'll try to remember that far back! LOL
~KARA~ replied: Wow sounds like a great idea! good luck!
CCTandME replied: Thanks everbody!! It really makes me feel good to get virtual support. Kit_kats_mom...... Holy cow! I didn't know they got a percentage of your profits ON TOP OF rent. The guy I talked to only told me rent. $2500-3000/mo during holiday season. Everybody I tell is shocked at that. I wasn't. It doesn't scare me off. We are going to go over everything on Friday. INsurance, etc. I really have such a good feeling about this. Makes me wish it was winter again already.
GavinsMommy replied: That's great!!! Let us know how it goes!
kit_kats_mom replied: all malls may not but the two in our hometown do. no biggie though, the sales should be great enough to cover it & still make a nice profit for you
aspenblue1 replied: Congrats I hope it works out for you.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Sounds great! Good for you. Fingers crossed here for a good meeting!
CCTandME replied: KIt_kats_mom this mall has 8 sit-down restaurants, 8 anchor stores, 20 eateries, 30 movie screens, and over 250 mall shops mall size is 1.6million sq feet, 2 levels. Has over 8,000 parking spots. That is the largest mall in this area (Albany, NY) Crossgates Mall. So is that similar in size to where you were? Just trying to get some ideas. Friday can't come soon enough for me.
