I am so fliiping upset! One crappy day!

mummy2girls wrote: I did a HUGE BOO-BOO and to be honest I had no idea this happened until i got home. I got home and there was this message on my phone from a police constable! She said I was involved in a hit and run! WHAT! She said when I was backing out from my stall at jennas daycare I hit someones van! I didnt feel anything and you would think I would of felt the car hit another. But she got my plates after i did it and reported me because i "hit and run"! So I called the police back and she said maby because it was dark at the time and such i didnt realize it happened. But the lady that owns the van did make out an report.but the constable at this time is not going to do a report on me for hit and run! And i guess i smashed her front headlight. NICE! I went outside and looked at the back of my car and there was no dents at all. i didnt notice a chipped paint the size of a dime. But thats it. So i have to go down to the station thursday morning and show them my car involved in the accident and my drivers liscnece. then she is going to give me the name and number to the lady i hit! and then i discuss it with her on whether we can do it through insurance companies or on our own. The constable thinks it will be between 800 -1000 that i may have to pay! OMG! OMG! OMG! Where the heck am i goig to get that amount of money! I feel so sick to my tummy!

Kirstenmumof3 replied: grouphug.gif OH Shelly! It sounds like the lady may have the wrong person, I would think there would be more damage to your car if you had hit a van! I hope that everything works out for you, that is just awful! grouphug.gif

mummy2girls replied:
well that chipped paint i never had before so i must of hit her van somehow! But my car is a 2000 chrysler neon le and you would think if i hit really hard i would of gotten a dent also! Oh well! She got the daycare centre right and the time i left the center after dropping jen off... so i had to of done it... NOw with a new mini van how much is it likely to cost me to get it fixed if i do pay for it without getting our insurance companies involved.i smashed her headlight.

Let me askyou all.. is it better to do it alone or with my insurance company. Ive never had this ever happen in the 5 years ive been driving. I got full coverage on my car so does my insurance pay for it and then my rates go up a bit? or what? Im stupid when it comes to this..UGH!!!!!!

Such bad timing with my financial situation! And there is no way im telling my parents about this... ill never hear the end of it.

texasp3 replied: Ew... sorry to hear about this. What a shock! ohmy.gif

As far as going it alone or going through insurance. We've always made that decision based on our deductible on the insurance compared to probable cost of repair. Say you have a $1000 deductible - well, then you're going to end up paying for the repair out of your pocket anyway and all you'll have to show for it is a claim on your insurance record!!

~Roo'sMama~ replied: ohmy.gif Oh that sucks I'm sorry!!! grouphug.gif
It's weird that you didn't feel it if you hit her hard enough to smash her light! But I guess if they got your license plate # then they must be right. huh.gif
I hope your insurance can pay for it!

Mommy2Be replied: OH my goodness sweetie I am so sorry that happened grouphug.gif. I am sending good vibes your way.

catou_98 replied: Is it possible that maybe SHE hit you while parking while you were inside with Jenna, you came back to your car and didn't notice anything and just left while all the while she had already did the damage that's why you didn't feel a thing when you suppositetly "hit" her car!!! blink.gif she might be one of those dishonest people you know and she's putting the blame on someone else so she can get it fixed without it causing any trouble with her insurance!!! just an opinion but it happens that I do know of some people that are just like that! (unfortunately they're related!) mad.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
I was just thinking this same thing. If you had hit that van hard enough to damage a headlight you would have felt it. I backed into a tree in college in the parking lot which took out my tailight and a surely felt that. I was actually driving a 1995 Neon. I am thinking that there would be a little more damage to your car if you had hit that van that hard.

gr33n3y3z replied: This doesnt sound right at all
You broke just the head light? no other damage?
First off if you just broke the head light it should cost no more then 90.00 and you can put in yourself or someone can do it for you.
And I would want to see the other car that you hit before you do anything what so ever.
Have the cops investagate what happend its worth it.
Like I said before this doesnt sound right and no matter what she said I dont think you did it ..... I think someone else did and she is blaming you

mummy2girls replied: yes according to the poilce that contacted me last night... it was her headlight that got smashed. If anything this repair should not be ,uch because my 2000 neon you would think of gotten more damagae. because the body of newer cars are not that strong as the ones in the 80s and such. All i got was chipped paint the size of a dime and maby a quarter. ill be talking to the police tomorrow morning ... but the police is going to look at my car and wonder if i did it also..LOL because he will see no dents or real damage. You have to go right up to my car...eye on car to see the chipped paint and when i get a hold of this girl i will tell her i want to see this headlight.

Kaitlin'smom replied: First sorry about this shelly that stinks

second I am a licenses insurance sales rep, and I tell you that sounds real fishy to me.....you have a 2000 Neon and she has some mivi van and you supposily only smashed her head light with leaving only a small chip in your paint. I am sorry but that does not sound like you hit her, you would have know it. Personaly I would fight it, make the police investigate, and if nothing else you pay your insurance for that reason (well I am not sure how Canada works) but here in Ohio we investigate ALL claims before any payment goes out, and usually the deductiable is for your car not theres, but then again Canada might be different. I can only tell you how Ohio works.

best of luck

gr33n3y3z replied: Well good luck with everything
Let us know how it went

ferocity302 replied: Start measuring!!! Check the color of the paint on your car and see if it matches the other car. Measure where the headlight on the other car is compared to where it supposedly hit yours.

I went through this once and come to find out the kid that we supposedly hit had hit something yellow!!! our truck was blue. And we proved with pictures and a measuring tape that our hitch was so low that we could not have possibly done the damage to the other car.

We never felt a hit either........ because there was none.

so get all the facts before you give up.

good luck!

A&A'smommy replied: OMG that sounds fishy to me too, are there not any cameras outside? I dont guess there would be but maybe... anyway I would definitly check on everything and try to remember even being parked next to her, check for someone who might have seen it?

mummy2girls replied: the chipped paint is my color of car because you have to look right at it ...and i mean eye right up to the car. I dont know. I guess i will see tomorrow what will happen. and when i talk to the lady. im just so upset im so stressed because how the heck am i going to pay 1000 in damages if i have to? OMG!

I just dont get it because both our vans are newer modles so why didnt i get a dent?

kimberley replied: i totally agree that it sounds fishy! i have been in a few fender benders and have ALWAYS felt the bump of impact, no matter how small. especially in a compact car! i would not pay a cent without an investigation! hope everything gets straightened out and you don't have to pay anything.
