I am so proud of my grandma
luvmykids wrote: After my grandpa died we were all really worried about her, with him having been sick for so long we were afraid she wouldn't know what to do with herself, and being alone after so long we thought she might just sink in her grief and die too.
BUT I talked to her today, she signed up to tutor English as a Second Language students, and is teaching a gardening class (she's a Master Gardner) at her retirement community.
I'm so proud of her for putting herself out there! She said her doc told her she wasn't going to die anytime soon from what he could tell, so she figured she might as well find a productive and pleasureable way to pass the time.

Brias3 replied: That's so great to hear! So many senior citizens fall into that "slump" after either retiring or dealing with the loss of a spouse so its great that she's finding ways to get herself into the community and stay occupied!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: My grammy took care of my grampa for a long while. After he passed away she started taking trips all over. She went to the British Isles with my sister and I. She's been on a foliage tour in the Northeast. And she goes on quilting retreats all over. It is wonderful to see her bloom. I am so happy for your Grandmother's outlook. And I wish I could take her gardening class. I love to dig in the dirt, but it seems like it doesn't do much. LOL
luvmykids replied: Me too, I asked her for some pointers and she said "Honey, your thumb isn't green and your plants will never be either"
C&K*s Mommie replied: OUCH! I think she was talking to me with that comment.
That is great though, that she will enjoying her retirement and living it to the fullest.
