aspenblue1 replied: That maybe yahoo. I know mine has been doing crazy stuff lately sending stuff to people I have never sent emails to.

amynicole21 replied: There are tons of viruses out there that send themselves to everyone in your address book. I am 100% certain that Jennasmommy didn't send this to you on purpose!

ediep replied:
I agree

Mommieto2Girls replied: Just out of courisoty, why would she leave a message that says....... "I wait for your comment about it". Doesn't look like a dummy email to me.

MommyToAshley replied: My virus scanner catches this email all the time... it is a virus that sends itself. In fact, I can't recall, but it may even be one that falsifies who the email is from. For example, it may say it is from shelly in your address book when it is actually from a different source.

I am sorry you got this email, but I am positive that jennsamommy meant you no malice.

coasterqueen replied: There are viruses out there that are programmed with wording such as the one displayed and then it is coded to use all the email addresses in your address book and send it out.

We had a virus in our office months ago, it was sent to me via email by a member. I thought it was ok since it was from someone I know. What it did was take an email that was in his box already and sent it out to everyone in his address book with the virus included.

I don't think anyone would send a virus on purpose.

amynicole21 replied: I get hundreds of these a day, but my virus protection software catches them. Some of the messages read

But there is actually a virus there. I'm actually shocked that this is the first one you've ever gotten - lol!

Don't worry, you haven't been targeted. Please do not attack someone before you have all of the facts. Glad you caught it before you opened the attachment!

Kaitlin'smom replied:
I agree....I even got one once that was looked like I sent it from myself ohmy.gif

coasterqueen replied:
That's what I was trying to say but didn't say it well. That's what happened to us when we had a virus.

~CrazieMama~ replied: Normally I would not care, but why would I be in her address book? Unless she got it from this site through my profile. I get crap all the time but this is crazy. I can understand if Shelly and I talked to each other through emails, but we don't talk. Anywho, im leaving now... but I just wanted to let you all know that wheather or not this was sent out maliciously or not, it is going out and anyone here can get it.

coasterqueen replied:
She could have you in her address book from the Christmas card exchange?

CantWait replied: I've gotten one of these viruses from a good friend of mine, she knew nothing about it. I'm sure Shelly had no idea.

amynicole21 replied:
She also set up the baby spotlight a while back.

~CrazieMama~ replied: Actually, I was not part of any card exchange..... I did not want anyone to have my home address let alone my email.

MommyToAshley replied:
Your address is not in her address book from Parenting Club, you would have had to have given it to her at one time for some reason or another. If you PM or email someone from Parenting Club, it goes through the PC server and does not show your address.

MommyToAshley replied: There is no place else for this thread to go, so I am locking it.

I am sorry you got the virus, but I am glad your virus scanner caught it. I think your anger should be directed at the person that wrote the virus.
Have a good day!

TLCDad replied: Everyone is correct. This virus will hunt all files on your computer (not just your address book) for email addresses. These can be in a cached html document. They will forge the from email address randomly so the person it says it from is 99% most likely not true. These sets of viruses are one of the nastiest and most clever around. I can GUARANTEE Shelly did not send that to you intentionally and almost certainly likely it was not even sent by her computer. If you want to investigate look at the detailed headers of the email and you will see the actual computer IP address that sent it.

There is absolutely no way anyone can see your email address from Parenting Club unless you specificly say it is allowed to which is not by default. If someone sends you an email via this board the email address is hidden unless you reply.

The subject of the message is just the cleverness of the virus and is a total hoax.

If this is the first time you have seen this virus I am surprised. We see them all the time (then again we get alot of email).

Please next time you have a concern like this, bring it directly to my attention first.
