I can't believe it

mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: My friend has a son who is only 3 weeks older than Wesley, so about 20 months old. And guess what....He is completely potty trained!! huh.gif Not kidding. I met her at the gym yesterday and as we were pulling our kids out of the daycare, she asks her son if he needs to go to the potty. I look at her and say "don't tell me" and she says yes. He tells her when he needs to go, is in underwear and even stands up. The kid barely even talks yet! dry.gif I'm so jealous. My 3.5 year old is in a pull-up at the gym because they won't change accidents and her 20 month old is going potty all by himself. ohmy.gif

luvbug00 replied: Some kids either naturally or train earlier. Whatever to each child wwhen they are ready. i see no issue with being potty trained a little later. hug.gif wink.gif

coasterqueen replied: Yeah, I can tell you this. I never ever thought I'd be celebrating Megan's birthday with her still in pull-ups. growl.gif Her birthday is only one month away and we are no way NEAR potty trained and she's resisting all. wacko.gif

A&A'smommy replied: hug.gif some kids are just ready before others are.. it took Alyssa until she was 3 to be completely potty trained and she STILL had accidents. I on the other was the child that potty trained VERY early and never had any accidents. She gets it from her daddies side because both of the boys took forever to train rolleyes.gif

grandma replied: That is really early, I would even say abnormally early. My grandkids are moe like three when they are potty trained.
Did you ask her how she did it?

luvmykids replied: Wow, that is super early, I think we tried at that age with zero success, hang in there hug.gif hug.gif

mckayleesmom replied: Every kid is different though..For Example...Mckaylee and Russell...Mckaylee was really easy to day train and so was Russell....I just completely said no to diapers anymore and knowing they weren't getting their diapers back...they went on the potty. I think pullups make kids backtrack...but that is just my opinion and experience with my kids. Pull ups were diapers to my kids. But Russell is now on day 3 of being dry with night training and Mckaylee still constantly has accidents...Not to say that Russell never will, but right now its looking easier for him then it is for her...And this is the same kid that as of last week was still waking up with a wet diaper..You just can't compare your kid with others....I know its hard, and we all tend to do it, but in the end we are only upsetting ourselves... happy.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Maddie was trained at that age. She self trained, too. It was just so easy with her.

Ethan didn't train until last summer. He was just over 3 yrs old and gave me FITS!! He still isn't night trained.

My best friend's son will be 4 in 2 weeks. He's no where near being trained and has shown NO interest. Everyone gets there eventually. Hang in there. hug.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
hug.gif Karen, hang in there. hug.gif

Brianne, I agree that every kid is different. I wasn't really comparing Wil to her child in a negative sense. The jealousy thing was just my sarcasm. tongue.gif I truly believe PT is not a one-size-fits all. Believe me, I have tried just about every method with Wil and realized he will do it his own way. I'm truly proud of how far he has come!

I'm just amazed that my friend's kid trained that early, I'm more in shock that it can be done!

mckayleesmom replied:
Oh...I know how you meant it...I can't imagine my child potty training that early either. Mckaylee and Russell would have looked at me like I was insane. I hope I didn't offend you....I didn't mean to if I did. I was just meaning that sometimes its easy to slip into the compare mode when we notice a younger child doing something ours can't yet.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
Nope, you didn't offend me hun! wink.gif

:.Mrs_Mommy.: replied: When my youngest daughter was born I had a 4 yo and a 3 yo in pullups and a newborn in diapers. That lasted for all of a month and I was done. I quit buying them and they were in underwear. It was really messy for about 1 wk but after that they got the hang off it. I didn't think they were ever going to get potty trained and I had tried every trick in the book for both Aaron and Lily but nothing worked. Kyla on the other hand was fairly easy because she wanted to be like her big brother and big sister. Still had accidents fairly regularly for about 2 months but then she was completely potty trained. biggrin.gif She has been potty trained for about 8-9 months now and she will be 4 in May, so thats not too bad.

I always felt like I was doing something wrong because my children were not getting the hang of the potty training as early as other kids. But they did it in their own time and it was something that I couldn't rush (as much as I wanted to biggrin.gif )

amynicole21 replied: Holy moly, that's early. Nora's just now starting to actually ask to go, but mostly it's us telling her to go in between accidents. I am just not ready to put her in panties full time though... can't deal with the mess. wacko.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: That is really early. Tanner was trained at 2.5, but even that 4 month difference seems early. I have only met one other child around that 18-20 month old range that was potty trained, and she pretty much trained herself.

A friend of mine had an issue with PT her oldest, who was just about 4 and still in pullups/diapers. One day she told him that he just doesn't get his b-day until he goes on the potty and is in big boy underwear. I thought she had gone mad, but it WORKED! ohmy.gif She seriously told him that he wouldn't get to turn 4 until then. LOL! I'll have to remember that one next time.

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
One of my best friends did this for her older child. laugh.gif It's not working for the younger one!!! ohmy.gif He will be 4 in a couple of weeks.

I take back what I said earlier about Maddie being trained at that age. She was closer to 2.5. blush.gif Where is my mind???? wacko.gif

mckayleesmom replied: Refusing to buy more diapers worked for both my kids....Once they knew they were in the house they want them back on.....its a comfort thing more than an ability thing....Now that they are not in the house anymore they go to the potty.

moped replied: I say that is super early too - Jack was easy at 3, but wouldn't have been if I started any earlier.

Wil will be trained soon - we know it

Calimama replied: Wow, that's only one month older than Miabella. I can't imagine her being potty trained. wacko.gif I hadn't even planned on starting until 2 1/2.
