I can't do this again!!!
Schnoogly wrote: Iain has been having a bad day again today, short naps, lots of screaming. He has also been spitting up a lot the past two days--he's gone through like 10 outfits a day...so have I! Also he hasn't been eating as much (bottles though he still nurses frequently)
Anyway just now when I was trying to get him to sleep and he was screaming he turned purple...Oh God I can't do this again, I hope I was imagining it, or it was just a fluke or something. He doesn't go in to the cardiologist for 2 more weeks for his checkup. I really hope I was imagining it, I hope it doesn't happen again.
And the spitup--what's going on?? He usually only spits up once a day at most. And the bottles--he'll drink half an ounce then shove it away! Does he really have reflux (as I've suspected all along??) He chokes a lot too and wheezes. I don't think he's sick, he's been like this for weeks.
Will I ever be able to stop worrying so much??
Steph
mummyof2boyz replied: I am sorry to hear you are having such a ruff time with him. If you are really concerned I would call his Ped. You can never really worry to much about you children. So do what you have to do to make yourself feel better and to help Iain get better. Keep us updated on how he is doing.
Hugs!
Guest replied: HUGS Steph!!
If it continues (especially the turning purple) then I would see if you could get him into the doc sooner. I always say it is better to error on the side of caution.
I hope he is feeling better soon!
MommyToAshley replied: oops, that was me on the laptop... I always forget to log in when I use the laptop!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Lots of hugs your way! I hope things get better for you soon!
mckayleesmom replied: I would take him to the doctor to ease your mind a little. You never stop worrying about your baby, so that will never end,,,,Have you been eating anything that is upsetting his stomach, or is he teething? I know some babies spit up alot and act up when they are teething.
supermom replied: Hugs to you Steph - If you are that concerned (and you know him better than anyone) - I would have him at least looked at - maybe he's got something else going on (ear infection maybe??? - when they suck, it hurts, sometimes) or something else.
If nothing else, it would put your mind at ease.....
so sorry for you and Iain too - more hugs!!
Mommieto2Girls replied: I would probley just take him to the doctor , just to make sure . It can't hurt. I hope he fels better and keep us posted. ~~~hugs~~~
amynicole21 replied: I think I would definitely call the doc - they'll tell you if you need to come in. It would put your mind at ease at the very least.
Kaitlin'smom replied: so is he better today?
Schnoogly replied: So far he's better today, it's only 9am here and he's taking his first nap...but he slept better last night. I'm going to wait to see if it happens again and then call. They did tell me it was normal for him to be a little cyanotic around the mouth (blue) when he was upset, which he certainly was. And he took 6oz of formula when DH got home, so maybe he wanted his daddy to feed him I don't know. He never eats that much at a time (usually 2-3oz). Thanks for the support--I just panicked, the idea of more surgery so soon makes me want to crawl under the bed and never come out.
Mommieto2Girls replied: I hope nothing happens to poor little Iain. I can't imagine you guys having to go through all that again. Here are some stay well vibes for your baby.
~~~~~~ stay well Iain!!!~~~~~~
Kaitlin'smom replied: glad to hear he is doing better!
MommyToAshley replied: Ashley used to get blue around the mouth sometimes until a few months ago. It gradually stopped. It always scared me but they said it was normal in all babies.
I am soooo glad he is doing better. Keep us informed on how he is!
Schnoogly replied: Yes, it depends on their skin tone. Very pale babies will show blue around mouths and eyes but his whole face was purple, esp at the mouth.
They told me that was normal for him because although he is fixed, he is not 100% perfect. He only has half a pulmonary valve and he will always have a loud murmur because there are parts of his heart that can't be fixed (i.e. the placement of his aorta).
Sometimes when he is sitting and leaning over really far I also notice the cyanosis, I think because his heart is being squeezed when he leans over. I mentioned this to his ped at his 6 month checkup and she didn't seem to think there was anything to worry about.
I am just paranoid.
supermom replied: And I think that with all you have been thru, you have a right to be! Glad he's feeling better today, and hopefully it will just be "one of those things" - to you and all of yours!
MommyToAshley replied: I was just about to reply and say the same thing Supermom did... you have the right to be paranoid. Besides, I am the last one to say anything about being paranoid! I am a worry-wart and Ashley has been healthy!
I hope Iain stays healthy and that was just a fluke! Hugs!
