I don't know wether to laugh or cry - Kylie butchered Macie's hair
luvmykids wrote: I'm livid that they did it, period. I don't know who I'm more mad at, Kylie knows better....Macie just wanted her hair cut but she knows better too !!!! I could kill 'em both right now.
On the other hand, I guess I should have taken Macie seriously for the past few months when she's said her hair bugs her and she wanted it short
I cried for a minute, Macie had the most beautiful hair, past the middle of her back, Shirley Temple ringlets. People couldn't get over how long it was at her age. BUT it's only hair, right? And it is her hair, I guess if she wanted it short why not?
There were some funny moments, I was saying "Oh Macie, it's horrible, look how uneven it is." She gave my hair a good long look and said "So is yours"
Anyway, I don't know what the punishment should be for the principle, which is that some things you just don't do, especially when you know you aren't supposed to.
It's going to be tough to fix, I think it will be pretty short. Right now it's about shoulder length but by the time it gets evened out...
mom2my2cuties replied: OH MY!!!! I would beat Andrea
I am sorry - I hope it grows back just as beautiful and curly! I think it's something all kids do at one point.
luvmykids replied: I can't figure out who to hold more accountable....Macie, for asking Kylie to do it and letting her, or Kylie, who obviously being 2 years older definitely knows better. But then I start to feel bad, like Macie was the instigator, but at her age does she really know better or not? And I do feel bad for not letting her get it cut sooner if she wanted it that bad, but then I feel like I'm being wimpy and making excuses for both of them I'm PMS'ing so I think my emotions are just out of whack.
BTW-those stupid safety scissors don't even cut paper, how can they cut off that much hair in one whack?!
mom2my2cuties replied: Sorry I don't mean to laugh - because it really IS NOT funny! I just keep thinking Gosh, it could be worse, she could have done a Mikee and cut her hair to the scalp
Or could have been a moron like me, Andrea tangled up a mini matchbox in my hair and in order to get it out, they had to cut it out! I didn't know this until I went in for a trim! So I walked around for God only knows how long with this thing in my hair.
As for who to hold accountable..I think they were both equally aware thier actions were not allowed...So they should be equally accountable.
kit_kats_mom replied: OH NO! I don't know what the punishment would be but by golly, there'd be some.
It really could be worse. At least it wasn't her eyelashes. No haircut in the world looks wierder than a young kid with no eyelashes...trust me...I did it and my mom has the pics to prove it.
CantWait replied: Ouch, sorry. And to think you don't even have a camera to document it right now.
As for punishment, I don't know what it should be. Although 2 is stretching it as to whether or not she knew what she was doing really. She probably thought she was playing.
I do find it funny that the scissors wouldn't even cut paper.
luvmykids replied: I had a friend who was trying to imitate her mom plucking her eyebrows, only my friend plucked her eyelashes I'll never forget the reaction at school, poor thing
CantWait replied: OUCH, that had to of hurt.
lisar replied: Oh wow. I would have killed Lexi. She has cut all baby dolls hair at one time. I dont think she will ever touch another pair of scissors at home after that incident. I just worry about her cutting her hair or Raygens hair. Oh my. Sorry I hope it grows back for you quickly.
C&K*s Mommie replied: So sorry about that Monica. But it really is funny to think that Kylie wanted to grant Macie's her wish of cutting her hair, and she took it upon herself to do it.
LOL
ETA: That is a lesson learned, gotta keep safety scissors out of kids reach- just the same as regular scissors.
siblingtooolivia replied: Hang in there Monica - I think it is a time honored tradition for one little girl to cut anothers...sister to sister, cousin to cousin.....
My mom when she was a little girl cut off all her grandmother's hair - she was asleep in a rocking chair with her hair hanging over the back of it...and I am talking hair - like down to her butt, my mom cut it off right at the neck!!!!!!!
I can only imagine though all those ringlets!!! I am not too possevie of Olivia's straight thin hair so if she wants it short we cut it short, if she wants to try to grow it long we grow it long...poor little thing - you watch this little guy will come out with a head full of thick curly hair!!!!!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: Oh my I dunno what i woudl do if anyone cut Kait's hair like that. I remember some friends in school said when they were little they cut there ponytails off, talk about a mess.
Calimama replied: Ohhh wow.. I would cry. I hope it grows back fast!
jem0622 replied: Oh no! I am sorry this happened. I'm waiting for my girls to give each other haircuts.
Ellie replied: My sister and I gave each other haircuts. Our punishment was the horrible bowl cuts we had to get to make it all the same length. We looked like less cute haley mills.
Cece00 replied: I hope its fixable. This is another reminder to myself to keep all the scissors away from my kids I have a friend whose daughter did this to her BANGS, but she cut them like all the way to the scalp. Oh my, it looked horrible. She did it like TWICE, too.
holley79 replied: I did the same thing to my younger sister. I was only 4 and she was only 2 though.
luvmykids replied: Those are exactly the ages I'm dealing with.
I tried to very gently just even out the bottom but it was just way too choppy (she had the sides back in a ponytail when it happened) so I took her to my SIL who is a hairdresser.... she tried to do as little as possible too but it just wasn't looking any better and the only thing we could do was the bowl cut It looks so awful, I know it's just hair and I would have gotten it cut for her if she really wanted to, but at least had some say in it, kwim? I'm trying to act like it's not such a big deal for Macie's sake but every time I look at it I want to cry more. She doesn't care so I guess I shouldn't but oh, those ringlets were so beautiful
A&A'smommy replied: OH NO man I would be VERY upset too!!! It will grow back hun!!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Oh no! I'm sorry Monica! Just remember it will grow back... and be sure to take lots of pictures of it (time to buy a new camera! ) so you can torture her with them when she's older.
