I dont know where or how to say this - :(
MomofTay&Sam wrote: I will just start with Sammy went down 13 stairs tonight in his walker. I was upstairs with him making bottles, Daddy was with us. I asked dh to get the formula from downstairs. He brought it up and forgot to close the door. We were talking and all of a sudden heard a bloody scream..we both knew and went running. Sammy was at the bottom of 13 stairs upside down. He has no head marks, no marks we can see at all. He went to the ER just to be safe. OMG I have never seen my DH cry and say sorry as he did to sweet Sammy tonight. We put this door in when Sam was a little baby just to prevent this. We are both so upset we cant even sleep. This is the biggest mistake either one of us could have ever made. How dare we be so carefree with Sammy's life? He depends on US. OMG how unfit are we?
~CrazieMama~ replied: Oh wow!!!! Don't be too hard on yourself. Accidents happen. At least you thought enough to go to the e.r. Since everything seems fine, you should not punish yourself. Here are many many hugs to you, dh, and Sammy. I am sure Sammy will not remember any of it.
Mommieto2Girls replied: OMG, how scary!! Poor Sammy. Thank god he is ok. Babies are tuff, so try not to beat yourselves up to bad. I bet DH will never leave the door open again. How scary that must have been for you guys.
MomToJade&Jordan replied:
OMG!!!! Oh that must have been the scariest moment of your life. You are not unfit to be a parent so don't even think that. Stuff like this happens all the time. I have a friend here who's son took a tumble down a flight of stairs and he wasn't in a walker. Don't get down on yourself because you're Sammy's Mom and he needs you. I hope everything is all right. Here's another for good measure.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: OMG I'm so sorry that happened. Try to relax and remember that he is okay. You are not a bad parent. It was an accident.
MomofTay&Sam replied: Thanks for all the hugs. Sammy is just fine this morning. One small bruise on the back of his leg. The nurses and docs were very kind and treated him promptly and reassured us many times.
Guest replied: Oh my! Thank god Sammy is okay ! Accidents happen and we learn from them. I aggree with the others dont be so hard on your selves. I remember when my daughter was on the couch and I was changing her and all of a sudden she rolled over and fell on the ground. I had a hard time forgiving myself for not keeping a better eye on her, so I can relate to you and how you feel! She was fine though she belted out a scream and then she was fine Thank God!! So dont be tuff on your self hunny! We all learn from it!
amynicole21 replied: OMG!! How terrifying for you!! I am so glad that he's ok. And don't be so hard on yourself - those of us (if there are any) who haven't yet made huge parenting mistakes so far will find ourselves making them soon.

Kaitlin'smom replied: oh I am soo sorry, how scary that must have been. I am glad he is okay. accidents do happen dont be so hard on your self. I know when Kaitlin was in her boat and managed to tip it over in the pool DH freeked out I was right ther and got her but he also tried to get her and it did not help me, I had to basically shove his arms away while filpping it back over. She was fine, a little schocked and probably swallowed some water but she was fine.
Big hugs to you!
Jamison'smama replied: hugs to all of you
ediep replied: oh no.....poor Sammy. I am so glad that he is ok. Try not to beat yourself up over this, you are a very good Mommy. Accidents happen
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Hugs to you!
You're totally NOT unfit to be a mom...accidents happen!

Just for your information - that kind of accident is exactly why walkers are banned from Canada....too many babies getting hurt from accidents!
DansMom replied: Nothing feels worse than that feeling that you might have endangered your child. I bet we've all had or will have accidents like this happen---(I've already got two stories like this to tell). It's impossible to be perfect 100 percent of the time. I'm glad that little Sammy came through it all with just a bruise. You're wonderful parents! These things really do happen to all parents.
supermom replied: OMG - I am SO GLAD that Sammy is fine and that all is well with him.......and please, please don't you or your DH beat yourselves up about this - it is just something that we live and learn, and you guys sound like such great parents, please don't think you are not!! GREAT BIG HUGS TO YOU AND YOUR DH!!!
A&A'smommy replied: wow im glad he is alright, dont beat yourself up you sound like wonderful parents to me!!!
Guest replied: Your a great mom, accidents happen. I know a number of kids that have taken a tumble down the stairs. My sister almost went down the stairs in her walker once, but our dog layed in front of her so she couldn't. My mom almost freaked when she came back in the roon and realized that Courtney could make it that far...Thank goodness for smart dogs.
MomofTay&Sam replied: Thank you everyone for all the hugs and kind words. I hope he doesnt remember it.
MommyToAshley replied: Sorry I am a little late responding.
I am soooo glad Sammy is ok... that is what is important! I bet that was scary though!
Try not to beat yourself up. My mom, who is one of the greatest Mom's around and has taught pre-school for many years, had something similar happen. My little brother, who is 17 years younger than me, fell down the basement stairs. He was crawling around the kitchen while my Mom was making everyone breakfast and one of the five kids gettting ready for school opened the basement door (which is off the kitchen) and it didn't shut all the way. He fell down about 20 stairs and landed on a cement floor. Mom rushed him to ER to be checked out and, just like Sammy, he was fine and didn't even have a scratch. He's 18 and just graduated and doesn't remember it except for the fact that we tell the story often.
Guest_jem0622 replied: HUGS to Mommy, Daddy, & Sammy.
Glad he is okay. Please don't beat yourself up. Things happen. They really do. My brother went down the stairs in his walker and was just fine.
LOTS OF HUGS Julie
