I got "smashed " - they hurt my feelings.

I explained that I was getting one from a breeder because of Mya and Brads allergies. ALL dogs carry allergins in their saliva but dogs with hair and some with fur shed little to nothing and all thase are ok for her to have. For this reason I NEED to make sure the dogs being mixed have pure breed parents or lineage. I can't have 100% proof of that by getting a pound dog. they go by what the previous owner has told them or the vet on staffs guess. Also since we live in an apartment I need a small dog to carry up and down the stairs and I can't do that to a big dog and it wouldn't be fair to an old one. we are 4 stories up. They just kept tearring into me and I kept trying to explain myself but they were being really mean about the whole thing!!
I was really upset that they thought that I would rather get a "designer dog" over saving one. I would save one but with Mya's allergies I can't take the risk of being missinformed. I also am upset they think I would want to buy a dog who was whelped incorrectly by a mill and support that. I just want a puppy to love is that such a crime?

larchmontdi replied: It is not a crime to get a dog that fits your family's needs. The reason there are so many pound doggies is because a lot of people buy the wrong pet and then get rid of it. There are many reasons a pet can be wrong for a particular family. Buying one that your family may be allergic to is heartbreaking- both for your family and the dog that loses its home - so why wouldn't you want to prevent being put in that position?

These so-called animal lovers should applaud you for wanting to get the right dog so that you can provide him/her with a great home forever.

The site you went to wouldn't happened to been Pet Talk was it? I know alot of people on their bash people who buy dogs instead of getting one from a shelter.

I have had both rescue and dogs from breeders in fact I had a dog from a breeder that was basically rescued due to his medical issues. Also with getting a dog from the pound could have other issues that may not make it a good pet for families with children.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: People are sometimes! You have every right to get a pet that is suited to your families needs be it allergies or whatever! Also with a child I would buy a dog from a breeder and feel alot safer! You never know that backround of a dog from the pound-temprament,medical history,etc... At least at a breeder you have the chance to see the parents(at least the mother) and see how she interacts with Mya,you can gauge better how her pups will as well! POOPY on those mean people!
