I have a project I'd like help with...if anyone - can find it in their hearts and time....

Hillbilly Housewife wrote: The project is a NationWide Baby Shower.

The object of the project is to help parents who have a baby, and who don't have much money. Any baby items are appreciated - the most in demand and hats and blankies. The due date for all items to be received is by August 15th - so that they can be distributed to those in need by August 31st. ETA - the parents helped are helped through an outreach program through several churches across the nation.

The help I am requesting is if anyone can find it in their hearts to make a few hats, or booties, or blankies for this Shower - or any other item useful to new parents, such as cloth diapers, diaper bags, bibs, etc.

Personally - I'm making baby hats and baby bibs. I've made over 30 so far... they don't take very long, and are very easy.

If anyone would be interested to help - I can send an easy blanket, hat or bib pattern to you, as well as the address where to send them.

Thanks - any help received is very much appreciated!!!

C&K*s Mommie replied: I cannot make anything even if my life depended on it. dry.gif But I would be more than happy to ship a (store bought) blanket or two to this worthy project.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Why don't I just post the easy patterns that I use here, and anyone who wants to help can choose to do the patterns I use, or their own patterns, for any items they want? Of course, it's not limited to crochet - it can be knit, sewn, bought, whatever!

For a crocheted hat:

Size 5 needle, baby yarn

1) Crochet 4 - join to make ring.

2) Chain 2, Double Crochet 13 around ring, join in first Double Crochet, chain 2 and turn

3) Make 2 Double Crochets in each stitch of previous row. Join in first Double Crochet, chain 2, turn.

4) Make one Double Crochet, make 2 double crochet in next stitch. Repeat (1dc, 2dc in same st) until last stitch - join to first stitch. Ch 2, turn.

5) Make one Double Crochet in each stitch, join to first stitch, chain 2, turn.

6 - 13) Repeat row 5

14) Make one Double crochet in each stitch, join in first stitch. Do not turn - chain 1

15) Make Single crochet in same stitch - and one single crochet in each stitch of the previous row. Fasten off, and turn side over as the hat's edging.

Nicole - that would be wonderful of you, and so appreciated. Let me know what you decide to do, and I will provide the details to you.

Bee_Kay replied: Rocky-

Thanks for posting the patterns.... I love to crochet and I was just thinking about doing something like this.... Currently I am in middle of making a baby girl afghan for my SD daughter.

It's so easy. All it is is a HUGE granny square, but rectangle shaped. I am alternating baby pink with white.

Anyways, yes I would be happy to do this and again, thanks for the patterns!!

Hillbilly Housewife replied:

luvmykids replied: I'm like Nicole, I can't make anything but would still be happy to participate. I could even buy the supplies if someone else wants to make them and can't buy the stuff.

CantWait replied: With everything being such a mess with the move in a few short weeks, I'll try my best. Can you pm me your address or the address of where to send it.

PS what did you say (talking about the instructions), I'm just going to go out and buy something. rolling_smile.gif
