I hope I don't sound nosey?! - Question about Easter Dresses
3xsthefun wrote: I have never bought a easter dress before. I've bought Kaitlynn a sun dress and took pictures but that was it.
I really want to buy the girls both a nice dress for easter so I can get their pictures done. I seen some really pretty dresses I liked at Wal Mart that I liked for around $17 which really I don't think is to bad. If I had the extra money today I would had gotten them but I have wait till next pay day. I seen some cute hats and hair bands also. I want to go all out this year!
I'm just wondering about what is a good price? Another question should I also let them wear hats or handbands?
A&A'smommy replied: um I'm a really bad person to be answering this because last year I spent like 150 dollars on a hat, shoes, socks, dress ect.. it was from gymboree though. I got Alyssa a dress from parisians for like 15 dollars on sale its really cute too and we are getting her pictures made saturday!
Heather replied: With Alison's first Easter, I spent I think 50 bucks. It came with a matching hat. For her second, I made her dress for well over 50 bucks...and she wore a headband. I would love to make their dresses this year not sure there is the time for me to do it though. So I will probably just get one at Target or something like that.
I think it all depends on what you want to spend and the look you are going for. Hats and headbands have always been my preference I don't think there is a right or a wrong. Some mommies like to deck their girls out in the puffy fluffy dresses while some do cute little spring sundresses!! Either way I think Easter dress up is the cutest! LOL
mom22many replied: I knit and crochet... lol so I MADE my DD's easter dress. I went to Walmart, got me one of those big balls of white wool with the yellow pink and blue intermeshed with it... and made her a frilly dress with a headband. It's really cute!
I'll have DH take a picture and upload it... then I'll post a picture of it! Cost me about 6$ plus tax, and about a weekend of crochet-ing.
Really nice! We've still got plenty of time.... I still have a month or so to figure out what to make for my son!!!
coasterqueen replied: Hmm, not sure. I ended up getting Kylie just a cotton t-shirt type of dress that is white with blue butterflies on it from BRU for $9.99 and a matching hat for $6.99.
I had found several easter type dresses I liked but none in her size. I also wanted to buy something she could wear after easter and get my money worth.
I see nothing wrong with letting htere where head bands or bows too.
Alice replied: Easter is early this year, which always makes it tricky. Sundresses are great, but kinda chilly if there's still snow on the ground.
I haven't looked yet, but I usually find a dress in the neighborhood of $20 at Sears, Target, Kohls or JC Penney. And I always get the girls a hat and purse!!!
Brian is the tricky one. He's a size 10H and 6 and a half years old, and hates getting dressed up!!
3xsthefun replied: Thanks ladies, I plan on looking at some more dresses. I'd like get the two that I seen but they are kinda like a sun dress. Maybe I could get them a cardigan(sp?) go with them. I want get professional pictures taken if I can.
I know Kaitlynn will wear a hat or handband with her dress. Maegan well I'm not so sure. She will only keep one on her head for a few seconds and that is it. I hope she will keep one on for their picture.
3_call_me_mama replied: we went out to get an easter dress but the ones i liked were all around $50-$75 and there was no way i was goingto pay that for a size 6-9 months dress! that she would wear once maybe twice..... so we did what we always do >>EBAY I got Kathleen's off ebay NWT for $15 (shipping) (it was a last years gymboree line i guess) and we bought a matching hat at the children's place for 6.50.. so we spent around $21.50. She has a white cardigan to wear with it so we got that covered, oh yeah adn white mary janes off ebay for .99 cents and $3.00 to ship so grand total $25.49. Cameron has an outfit that we bought last year that was too big so he never got to wear it, hopefully it'll fit and then he can wear that...
MommyToAshley replied: That sounds like a good deal for an Easter dress... they can get really pricey. I bet they will look so cute, I can't wait to see the pictures. I personally like hats for Easter, but I think headbands would be cute too.
ctymom replied: I actually bought my daughters dress a few months ago on ebay
This dress but not this auction
I'm not one to spend alot b/c she'll wear it only once more than likely. I've bought designer clothes there for next to nothing.

jolene555 replied: sorry - i'm a second hand diva. i get all of my niece's clothes for georgia. it's kinda funny, because the same dress will be at easter 2 years in a row, just a differant wearer. my sister spends quite a bit on clothes, and i think she paid $60 for this dress, but how much did it cost me??? $0. amen.
rocknroll mom replied: Good morning! You may want to check out JC Penney's--I know they have had an ongoing sale on clothes for infants & toddlers. Hopefully it will still be going on when payday arrives. Also, do you have a Kohl's in your area? I have found so many great deals there. I usually check their prices once a week b/c they are always changing.
My daughter's (wow, sounds so neat) Easter dress for '06 is a hand-me-down. Her cousin is 2 yrs older, which saves me a lot of $. I already have a Christmas dress for her as well. Let's just hope it all fits when the holidays arrive. Good luck!

Kaitlin'smom replied: sounds good, I also try and get something she will wear again, that is unless she gets one from her great-grandparents who live in FL they have always sent her the cutiest dresses, grandma has great taste So if she does not get one then I will find something.
Happy hunting
Alice replied: If not a cardigan, why not a T shirt to match the dress and wear under it??
mom21kid2dogs replied: You might try either Ebay (I just got a new with tags dress BTkids from Stein Mart on there for $3.51 + $3.95 shipping~it's beautiful!!) or resale before going for new. Special occasion dresses are often worn little so you can get a beautiful new one for a fraction of the cost of new and no one knows the difference but you!!
3xsthefun replied: Thanks everyone! I'll check out e-bay and JC Penny's and see if I can find anything if not I'll go back to Wal Mart.
I really wish we had a Kohl's around here but we don't the closest one is probably like 3 hours from here.
Happymomof2 replied: Last year I think we spent $20 on Delaney's dress and $15 on a white cardigan to match. The sweater was great because she wore it for months afterward until she outgrew it.
At the end of the season last year, I bought her a beautiful dress at The Children's Place for this year for $4.00 and the matching pink linen coat for $5. The outfit originally would have cost me $50. I bought her Christmas dress for this year at the same place for $5 also. I love bargains
