I just rescued a dog...from the highway!

hopefulmomtobe wrote: So - I am sitting in my office --- now - please keep in mind that I am 8 months pregant while I tell this story...I look out the window and a dog (Corgi, small cute dog) goes running by with a leash on. Uh oh - that doesnt look right...so I go outside to get him, well damned if he doesnt take off running toward the highway. Believe me, in Atlanta, he was doomed if he got near that road. Here I go after him...waddeling the whole way --- a construction crew shooed him away from the road but couldn't catch him either. I follow him up this grassy hill (cursing the whole time) and he runs back towards my office complex through the parking lot of a bunch of cars. I was gasping for air at this point because I am big and pregnant and the darn dog is quick!!!

Luckily he gets trapped between our office back doors and I corner him.

He has on a tag with the owners name and number, I call the owner, no luck - answering machine. We call across the street to a doctors office hoping the owner is there and low and behold he is! He is in with the doctor right now the receptionist said but she will let him know as soon as he is done.

My good dead is done for the day!!!

amymom replied: WOW! You have a creative way of telling the story, I am picturing it in my mind. Good deed done!!

Crystalina replied: That was so nice of you! Most people wouldn't bother. hug.gif

Calimama replied: Great job!! hug.gif hug.gif You probably saved that dogs life.

3xsthefun replied: Wow! Glad you was able to save the poor dog's life.

Farelle replied: HA!! I love it. Good for you!! I've done crazy stuff like that too, but not when I was 8 months pregnant. You go girl!! biggrin.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied:
Oh believe me - I am still winded! I have already drank a bottle of water and need to reapply my deoderant. LOL!

But - the little doggie is safe and back with his owner. wub.gif

hopefulmomtobe replied: Oh - almost forgot...last year I rescued a Paraket out of a tree (he wasnt too high up) so now everyone in the office is wondering what I will rescue next year at work. LOL

MoonMama replied: thumb.gif hug.gif

lisar replied: Good for you and your good deed. I dont know that I would have done that being 8 months pregnant though. I would have had a heartattack.

Danalana replied: Awwww, I'm just like you. Before we were married, I pulled into a convenience store on my way to church. There was a medium-sized copper-colored dog there. She was terrified at all the cars coming in and out, and it made me so sad (HUGE animal lover, here). Anyway, I went on to church and ended up having to go to that same store later that evening (I was leaving my mother's and going back home). That dog was still there and I knew I had to do something. I thought she looked pregnant and there was no way I was just gonna leave her. She made eye contact with me, and it was like she trusted me instantly. I called to her and she came...really low to the ground and with her tail tucked between her legs...it made me want to cry. I opened the passenger side door of my SUV and she stood there. I reached down and picked her up under her belly (not really a smart idea, logically) and put her in the seat. I drove around, trying to get people to help. There was no humane society and the police department couldn't help. I was crying by then and I called Richard. I was like, "*sniffle* you have to help me! *sniffle*", and i told him what had happened. He ended up taking her and we named her Casey. He ened up giving her to a couple who we were friends with. Their kids loved her and she loved them. She did have puppies later on biggrin.gif
So, yeah...I'm totally like that.

hopefulmomtobe replied:
HAA!!! I felt like I am was going to!!! LOL darn dog! He was cute though.

hopefulmomtobe replied:
Awwww, that is sweet! I liked that story! hug.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied: Yeah for you. thumb.gif Hope the owner was grateful for you act of kindness. hug.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: so did you ask if he brought the dog with him or did it follow him?

redplaydoh replied: That's a great story, the visual made me chuckle cuz I could just see me when I was that far along. I hope the owner was very grateful for what you did!

Farelle replied: It reminds me of a story back in my....drinking days.....we were out one night and my friend who is also a big animal lover (like me) hugged a stray dog that was covered in.....poop!!! wacko.gif wacko.gif Ahhhhhhh!!! Then we had to drive her home!! At least the dog you rescued was clean ....(I hope!!?! ) HA HA HA
I always like to hear a good animal rescue story!! good people!!!!
