I need help quick and this post includes TMI :-/ - don't know what to do...
AshleyRose wrote: first off, sorry that i have been MIA without notice. we did holiday traveling to RI and all kinds of stuff. i had a HUGE surprise baby shower and got TONS of stuff that I am still setting up and getting ready...
Anyways, to the issue... I am now 34 weeks pregnant and went to my appt yesterday. They found plus-one protein in my urine. My blood pressure was also higher than normal, it was 134/80, i think. I have also been experiencing swelling in my hands, legs and feet pretty bad and have had pretty rapid weight gain in the last like 9 weeks-- i am now up to 165 and i was 112 when i got pregnant . The doctors are concerned that i may have pre-eclampsia and gave me a 24 hour urine test thing. I have an appt on wednesday to drop it off so i wont know until next week if everything is okay.
This morning I noticed a streak of brown stuff in my underwear. I haven't experienced this sort of thing throughout my whole pregnancy. My DH says to just wait until wednesday to tell them while I am there but the doctor (if i remember correctly) told me to call if I had any bleeding... this is really spotting.. not REAL bleeding and it may be because Dh and i DTD last night - which felt odd. What should I do? Has any one experienced this before? I know I should probably call the doctor just to make sure but my DH insists that it isn't a big deal... I don't want to sound like I am over reacting or anything...
I haven't had any more spotting or streaking since I noticed the little bit this morning....
Thanks in advance for any help... We are under a huge amount of stress especially with this pre-eclampsia thing which could result in me being induced and her coming earlier than expected...
A&A'smommy replied: We understand you have been busy!! I don't know anything about it but I would call the doc and at least ask there is no harm in asking its for your own peace of mind! And the weight you will probably loose pretty quickly! (((HUGS))) keep us posted!
5littleladies replied: I would call your doctor. It will give you peace of mind if nothing else and if they said to call if you had any bleeding then even if it was just spotting I would call and make sure. Keep us updated!
jcc64 replied: I have a feeling it's related to your "nocturnal gymnastics", kwim? But call if it makes you feel better. The fact that it's stopped, was so minimal, and was brown, all point to the fact that it's not anything scary- but you can never be too sure, particularly if it's stressing you out. As for your bp, maybe it's higher than normal for you personally, but 134/80 is really not considered high. It sounds like your dr is being appropriately cautious, but I wouldn't freak out over it. (As if that's possible when you're pg)
momof2girls replied: I would not worry but call the Dr to let them know... lots of things start to happen at the end, discharge and such. Let us know how it goes!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I agree with everyone else, call your doctor if anything just to give you a little peace of mind. I'm sure everything will be okay!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: There is no harm in calling your doctor. That is what they are there for. Keep us posted and ITA with Jeanne. It was probably the sex and your BP isn't really high at all. They also found a trace of protein in my urine and I had major swelling at the end of my pg with Ethan, but they never diagnosed it as pre-eclampsia b/c my BP remained stable.
Everything will be fine! You dont' have long to go.
MommyToAshley replied: I was going to say the same thing.
Did you end up calling your OB?
AshleyRose replied: yup I called him and thanks for all the advice. He told me not to worry unless there is cramping along with it... which there isn't. He said it is probably just my cervix changing and stuff. My mind is cleared and I feel much better, thanks everyone .
jcc64- my blood pressure has never been that high... it is always 120 over a lower number... not sure because I never keep up with it but I knew when I saw 134 that it wasn't the typical numbers I had been hearing... I am sure I am fine and even if I must be induced, I am far along now and not too worried about it.
I FiNALLY get to go to ONE of my two prenatal classes tomorrow at the hospital from 9-5... yes a LONG day... like a whole day of school or something, UGH! I got jipped when it came to that... instead of four small doses of classes BEFORE my eighth month, I get TWO wicked long days of classes on two separate weeks like right before my due date. I am going to be the biggest girl in there because I am so far along...
I will let you all know how it goes.
MommyToAshley replied: Glad to hear the OB was able to put your mind at ease.
I bet you will still like the classes. I loved the classes... I bet you will enjoy it too. My favorite part was when they taught the husbands the relaxing massage techniques... ahhhhh!
mummy2girls replied: (((HUGS))))
You have all the signs of what i had with both of my pregnancies. I wqs induced both times because of it. But dont worry hun you are at a safe time in your pregancy to give birth...update us!!!!!!
Josie83 replied: Sorry I just saw this Ashley. I'm so sorry that you were worried, but glad that you sorted yourself out! Don't worry about not coming on here, we all understand what its like to be busy. Keep us updated on how you're going and enjoy your antenatal classes! xx
