I really AM a fashion victim - Oh boy!
coasterqueen wrote: My mom had given me a gift certificate months ago for my birthday so when I went to run errands over the weekend w/the girls I got something to wear. It was just for Shopko, store like Walmart I'd guess. Anyways, I got one of those broomstick skirts (that's what my co-worker calls it, I have not idea what they are called ) and a bohemian top (she had to tell me that too ).
Anyways, the skirt is black and the top is salmon-ish pink with clear beands and gold beads on it. I LOVE the shirt (totally not me, but I like it) and the skirt is ahhh ok. Anyways so I tried it on at the store and liked it but thought I needed a belt. So I found a gold chain link (that's the best way for me to describe it) type belt to wear with it. I didn't try the belt on at the time.
I put the outfit on to wear to work this morning and the belt looked hideous with it. Or maybe it didn't, maybe I'm just not used to how it looked, don't know. Then I broke the stupid belt by accident. I was running late so I kept the outfit on and well it really needs a belt but I'm wearing it.
I looked and looked for belts and thought this would be the perfect belt but it wasn't. Now what do I do?
BTW, I got the outfit for under $30 (well not including the belt, it was $12 which I PLAN to take back now that it broke). So at least I'm a thrifty shopper.
Boys r us replied: It sounds really cute!!!!!I bet you look great in it! As for the belt, it sounds like it would have looked good with the outfit!
amymom replied: Well good job on the thrifty shopping. I would definetly take the belt back and if you could do that today you would be able to see how the others look on the outfit. But maybe you could post a picture of the outfit for us to see. Some others on here know better than me whatt would look good.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I would have to see it b/c I'm horrible at visualizing these things. But, really it sounds like a cute outfit.
coasterqueen replied: I will try to do that. Although I'm a bit embarassed to post a pic because I really am a fashion victim and what I might think looks cute someone else might not. Oh well I have no pride so I'll do that. I can take the pic now but have no way to download it til tonight so I will do that. Thanks.
I can't take the belt back today because I don't have a lunch hour today, but I'll do it this weekend I guess.
Kaitlin'smom replied: well it sounds cute, at least you know the colors match sounds like you do need a belt but I to would need to see it to tell you what I think might look okay
coasterqueen replied: Okay, please please don't laugh. Ah, you can I have no pride. ANyways this is a really HORRIBLE pic because my lovely coworker couldn't get off her butt to take the pic so she's taking it from sitting down at her desk. I had her take it with my camera phone. I also haven't done anything with my hair yet because I was running late this morning.
P.S. don't mind the BIG bulge in the center of my body. MAN, do I look FAT in this pic. Oh well I'm a work in progress as they say.
Boys r us replied: I think it looks cute!!!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: LOVE that color on you! personally a big thick black belt would be my choise.
moped replied: Maybe we need to see a picture!
TANNER'S MOM replied: Oh I know the perfect Belt I would wear... by the way I love the top.. I really need one like that..
The broomstick skirts aren't for me.. but they are cute. That is what my girls are getting for Christmas..lol
But they make my look ummm FAT>.lolol
But I see that skirt with this kind of belt for me...lolol
A&A'smommy replied: OMG you look SOOO cute!!!! BTW You have a REALLY cute figure so I think it looks great on you and a belt to me would seem like it would enhance your cute figure!!
moped replied: I love the shirt but I am not sooo keen on the skirt - sorry!!! I am sorry if that hurts anyone, but I don't care for hte skirt, maybe with a shorter top I would like it - oh darn, I should shut up
coasterqueen replied: No you shouldn't. It doesn't hurt my feelings at all. I like constructive criticism The skirt does have beading on it butyou can't see it due to my shirt. I just have "issues" wearing shirts tucked in because of my gut that I need to get rid of. And the display they had had this skirt with same shirt untucked but in different color and a belt. So that's where I stold my idea.
amymom replied: You look great!!! I think that color looks good on you. The belt that Mel showed, looks like what I imagined your chain link belt may look like (w/o the turgoise sp?). But a similar belt I think will look good. (BUT what do I know)
moped replied: OH NO, please don't tuck anything in........I like the skirt and I like the shirt I just don't know if I like them together......make sense???????
coasterqueen replied: I see what you are saying . I wasn't sure I was ever crazy about the skirt, but I really wanted a skirt and there aren't any out there except these darn peasant kinds. I will ONLY wear long skirts, though, because I refuse to wear pantyhose that I have to take up and down 1/2 dozen times a day to go to the bathroom.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Karen I love that color on you and you are right, I think the outfit would look perfect with a belt.
Maybe a black one in this style? It's got the whole bohemian thing going on. You could also wear that shirt with jeans and the same belt for a more casual look.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Or how about this one?
My3LilMonkeys replied: I'll be the oddball....I love the outfit just the way it is! No belt needed IMO!
MommyToAshley replied: Karen, that pink looks really pretty on you. It looks fine now, but I think a belt would give it that "polished" finished look.
