I received some disturbing news!
aspenblue1 wrote: I received a letter from the placed that did the mammogram and there is a mass and they want me to come back in 6 months for another mammogram. So I called my dr office and they said it was up to me to either go to a breast doctor or they recommendedwaiting until after the next mammogram. If it is still there then I would definately need to go see a specialist.
I am torn on what to do but I think it would be better to go to specialist and get the results now.
due_any_day replied: best advice..dont wait...find out now what it is.... i'll pray for you ok?
KatieLeigh79 replied: Yup go check it out now, don't wait like they say to because if for some awful reason there is a concern there it is easier to stop before it gets a chance to start.... Will pray for you, let us know how it goes if you decide to go in earlier then 6 months, honestly I wouldn't wait..
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Oh I wouldn't wait 6 months!! Go now!! Make an appt to be seen ASAP!!! I bet it is nothing, especially since they told you it is your call on when to go, but it is best to find that out now. Go to the specialist. They have better machines and give you your results immediately. You are in my prayers. Please keep us posted.
amynicole21 replied: Go get it checked, but be aware that doctors want to cover their butts and do surgery a lot of the time. Get a second opinion no matter what the result. Lots of times, a mass is actually just a collection of fluid or an infection that will be cleared up with antibiotics. This just happened with my step-sister last month. Don't worry just yet, but it's important to be sure.
jcc64 replied: Chances are it's nothing- but I would want to hear that sooner rather than later. The mental anguish it will cause you worrying over the next 6 months is not worth the wait. Go see a specialist asap, maybe even 2. Better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your health. It seems like these kinds of scares happen to all of us at one time or another. I'll keep you in my thoughts and cross my fingers that it's nothing. Best of luck to you.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I definately would go and see a specialist! It would ease your mind and give you answers right away! 6mths seems like an awful long time!
aspenblue1 replied: Thanks everyone. I am calling the specialist tomorrow.
A&A'smommy replied: ((((((HUGS))))) A LOT of women I know go through this I heard one story of a woman who got a mamogram and 6months later they called her back in for another one and said that they wanted to check for a mass they saw all those months ago, and then my mom went through this she was at the docters a lot but luckily it was nothing. In your case it probably is nothing but I would also rather go to a specialist now instead of waiting! Let us know what he/she says!
redchief replied: My wife has a lump in one breast now. She has seen a specialist since her mom died of breast cancer. She also has had lumps before, had them removed and biopsied. All were benign. This time they recommended a new mammagram in six months. She will have the second one done in about a week. DO see the specialist. But please try not to worry unless you're given something to worry about (my wife just laughed at me when I told her that; then she gave me that look she gives me when it's obvious that my being male makes me an alien).
mama3x replied: I'm a gotta know it now person so I have to say CALL THAT SPECIALIST! Keep us posted on what happens.
Take care!!!!!
Boys r us replied: Waiting 6 months could make a huge difference! I would go to a specialist NOW! I always try to think of it this way, if I were the Dr's wife, what would he have me do? I do that b/c these dr's get hardened to things like this, they see it everyday..probably 7 times out of 10 it turns out to be nothing and there's no need for concern. But I bet if it were his wife in there, he would already have her at a specialist to make sure! Please don't wait!!
Good luck sweetie!
coasterqueen replied: I would call the specialist too, although I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. My co-worker has to get mamograms every 6 months because they keep finding a mass but nothing comes from it. It's weird. She keeps saying "I'm a very very small chested woman, how can they even find a mass, ROFL".
She's had to do this for several years now. Those tests are so sensitive, which is a good thing . She was told she'll just have to have them every 6 months for precautionary measures but that the "mass" isn't anything.
Keep us posted .
kimberley replied: i would definitely go to the specialist too. it is probably nothing, but it is better to be safe than sorry. my thoughts and prayers are with you.
My2Beauties replied: I would definitely call a specialist, 6 months is to long to wait on something like that. Let us know and P&PT's to you hon!
