I spent money today - bad me.
MyBrownEyedBoy wrote: But Aaron can't really complain. He's taking a huge trip to Colorado next week and the camp sites and rental car are going to total well over $400. So, me spending $9.99 for a Netflix membership isn't really too bad. I also got my brother a $30 Amazon.com gift certificate for his graduation from Ohio State and I bought myself 4 books on Amazon. But I bought them used for under a dollar a book. So there is my summer entertainment. Books and movies. I am such an exciting person. LOL. Actually, I am a bit of a loser, but this is what I like. Oh well.
Jamison'smama replied: Hey if books and movies make a person a loser---I suppose I can join the loser club! I love Amazon used books--it's silly to buy them new! I graduated from OSU also--a few years back but DH worked there until 6 months ago. What degree did your brother receive?
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Dan just got his Masters of Fine Arts. He specialized in Scenic Design. He designs sets and lights for theater productions. I've only seen a bit of his work, but it was amazing. He will be teaching at a University in Manhattan Kansas next year.
And I was totally being facetious about being a loser. I love my simple entertainment.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Books and movies sound great to me! Maybe we need to start a Loser's club.
C&K*s Mommie replied: Good for you to spend money on yourself. And part of it was for gifts, so that makes it even better.
We were with Netflix, but we ended the subscription back in '03. We have talked about getting back with them, but on the $5.99 plan (2 dvds per month) or the $9.99 plan.
Hope you enjoy your movies, and your books!
Brias3 replied: I'll join the club too! I LOVE books and movies. Sounds like perfect entertainment for me. Enjoy!
luvmykids replied: I didn't even know there was anything better than a good book or movie!
Nina J replied: DVD's and books equal my life Bookworms have more adventures
What books did you get?
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Totally brainless ones. Actually I got a Stephen King I was missing and 3 romance novels. LOL.
redchief replied: Hmmm...
- the ocean lapping at your feet - a cool spring thunderstorm - cheering on the kids on an athletic field - coffee and donuts after a long night of fighting fire - reading a great report card (go Kaitlin!)
...just a few things that are better, at least to me.
luvmykids replied: Ed I absolutely agree that some moments/interludes are far better for the soul than books and movies, I just meant in the context of spending $40 on "entertainment"!
holley79 replied: I wouldn't feel bad either. DH said the other day that we need to start watching the money. I had to ask him what he was talking about and he totally told on himself. He's been buying DVDs on EBay.
That's ok I got his coming for him. I'm going to buy myself something next payday. I think I could use a pedicure.
Celestrina replied: How could you spend your hard earned cash on such things (j/k)! But seriously, you will love netflix. They come so fast and you don't have to go to the videostore to return them (or rent them), and there's no late fees .
redchief replied: I know that.. and I didn't mean to insult your intelligence or belilttle you in anyway. I'm sorry if I offended you. I thought I was being funny. Sometimes I don't know when to keep my runaway keyboard quiet.
luvmykids replied: Oh no, no offense at all, I only explained myself because I thought I came off as not appreciating the "little things" that are actually so big. TY for the apology but not necessary! Sorry if I sounded bitchy!
eta: I think most of us are fans of your "runaway keyboard!"
redchief replied: Not at all... I know that sometimes when I think I'm being funny it doesn't play too well. I'm glad no harm was done... I'll try to keep the keyboard a'runnin'.
