I tamed a squirrel.. lol

Anyways I've been pitching a few outside in my backyard here and there for the little critters getting ready for winter... and this one particular squirrel always seems to be the one to come and get them... well I've been doing this for about 2 weeks now, and I've been moving the peanuts closer and closer to my patio door... and I've been trying to "catch him in the act" so that i can pitch him one and he can see me do it.

Today, the peanuts this morning were by my back step... and once they were all gone, at lunch time, Emilie told me that the squirrel was waitin gfor his nuts... I look, and he's sitting on my step, looking at us through the door.. so I open it slowly, and he jumps off the step and looks at me... so i pitched him a couple. He got them and ran off.

i handfed one once when i was a little girl, which in light of rabies scares was probably not smart but it's a classic Jennifer thing to do.
i was eating a cookie and it was sitting on a pole on our fence and while it wasn't a baby it was clearly a very young squirrel.
so i take off a piece of my cookie and start walking toward it, holding out the piece of cookie and i could tell that it was trying very hard to decide what to do--instinct told it to take off as i got closer but it was also curious as to what i had so as i approach very close, it opens its little mouth, really wide! so i put the piece of cookie in and it closed its mouth and scampered off!

Erin came home the other night and my friend was near the trash cans and she couldnt get in the house she called Ed on the cell phone to get the skunk away LOL

My2Beauties replied: Squirrels are so cute. DH's dad had one tamed at his old house, we named his Fuzzy Tail...he would crawl up your pants leg to grab the peanut out of your hand!

Boo&BugsMom replied: OH NO! Another one that does it! I thought my husband and his grandmother were the only crazies to feed the squirrels. In fact, the squirrels have been hanging out a little too close to our back door lately...probably waiting for Troy to come and give them their goodies since winters coming. I love animals, I really do, but the darn peanuts leave such a mess in our grass!!!

Oh, and NOW, they have a huge MANSION made in our tree! They probably figure "this is the place to stay, where that funny fellow feeds us"!

Good for you Rocky. Although I find that squirrels are rather stupid and given the time they'll come to anyone for food. That being said, I still think they are pretty cute.

sparkys2boys replied: my mom did this once when I was little.. it was all fun and games until she got it right in the door frame and then the day it ran past her into the house and then FREAKED OUT!!!!!! OMG....lol.. what a sight!!!!!!!! We still to this day talk about it!!!
