I think I have that upper respiratory flu
MommyToAshley wrote: I don't know if I mentioned it here, but I had been congested for a few days. I thought I just had a cold coming on. But now my head hurts, my nose is so stuffed up and I am really congested, my throat and ears are sore, I have so much phlem and drainage (sorry, gross, I know), and my chest hurts. Last night was the worst -- I had the chills so bad, I'm sure I was runnig a fever but I couldn't get up to check it. I hate to go to the doc if there is nothing they can do.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Rod said yesterday morning you were not feeling well. I hope you feel better soon. I was hoping you just got the morning off like I had the week before.
luvbug00 replied: I'm sorry being conjested is one of the worst feelings
sparkys2boys replied: If you are the same still tomorrow I would go get checked out
3xsthefun replied: I hope you feel better soon!
mckayleesmom replied: Get well soon......I hate colds...nothing is more frustrating.
Calimama replied: I hope you're feeling better.
Kentuckychick replied: I HATE colds and respiratory illnesses! I had pretty much a continuous bout of bronchitus, a cold and pneumonia before Christmas so I had more than my share this season!
A couple of good home remedies that I found, - Apple Cider Vinegar - 1 tablespoon mixed with a few ounces of water (this is actually a remedy for an abundance of ailments esp. indigestion!) but it works wonder for sore throat and congestion!! - Pressure point facial massage Massage guide * you can do this on yourself too* - drinking a mixture of 1 tablespoon honey + 1 tablespoon lemon juice (warmed for about 10 seconds in the microwave) - Shower soothers (I can't remember the brand, but they are menthol tablets that go in the bottom of the shower and they are heavenly when you're ill) - Neti pots or you could do what I do and just pour a mixture of salt (the kind without iodine) and water straight up your nose - A cool mist humidifier next to your bed at night
Hope that helps a little bit... FEEL BETTER!
mom21kid2dogs replied: It's nasty stuff! Feel better soon!!!
luvmykids replied: I agree with the Neti pot, but I couldn't find one so I used a turkey baster and it helped tremendously. I also agree you should get checked out if you don't feel better in a day or two, my mom was sure she just had a virus and it turned out to be a sinus infection and the antibiotics had her good as new within two days.
MoonMama replied: Oh hun be careful, I hope you feel better very soon!
punkeemunkee'smom replied: OH YUCK Dee Dee! I hope you feel better soon! That is just the worst! Lots of prayers and healing thoughts your way!
jcc64 replied: Btdt, Dee Dee. It hangs around for awhile, too. I was literally in bed for two days straight. Dh said he's never seen me do that, and he's right. The chills and sweats were awful- once you get past that part, you can function, though at a lower level. Take it easy- realize that even if you feel decent during the day, you will start to drop off around 4pm. I wasn't myself for almost 2 wks. I hope you don't have it!
gr33n3y3z replied: I hope your feeling better today Dee Dee
A&A'smommy replied: ick I'm sorry you are sick!!! Have you been feeling better today??
redchief replied: Sorry, Dee Dee. I hope you're feeling better real soon!
Teesa®© replied: When I get a cold, it's not so bad but the coughing last for weeks on end. I felt like a total idiot when it finally dawned on me that after the cold part is over, I get a bronchial infection [I was born with bronchitis.]
Before the holidays last year, the children were both off from school sick for almost 2 weeks in total. They'd be home sick for a day or two, go back for a day or two, be home sick for a day or two, etc. It was horrible. I hate when DH is working because then I can't leave the sick child home and take the well one to school, they both have to stay home.
When I got sick that time, every time I breathed, it sounded like my lungs were half full of phlegm. I felt like I was trying to gurgle underwater My doc put me on a puffer... it darned near killed us to get it, it was $400!!!! $200 for the puffer and 200 for the med's... and I'm supposed to refill 6 times?!?!?! I think NOT!
DS got it worse first, we had to get a puffer for him and it was $200, $100 for the puffer and meds and 100 for the attachment because he was a child. We didn't get the attachment. When DD needed something, we just used DS's, thank goodness it helped her too or we would have been screwed.
