I think I'm messing up

Annika went to bed at 9 last night. She slept through the night till around 6 or 7 this morning. I got up with her and we played for about 2 hours. She started falling asleep again in her bouncer so I decided that we would take a nap. We slept for about 4 hours. Is this a bad thing???? I am so scared that I am messing up her sleep cycle with her sleeping for 3 or 4 hours extra in the morning. Any suggestions??? hug.gif

I'll be back after a while. Phone are ringing. bawling.gif

ilovemybaby replied: My daughter slept about 3 or 4 hours during the day at 2 months. She also slept 8 plus hours overnight. She slept through the night at one week old.

As long as she is sleeping at night then I wouldn't worry.
Even now my daughter sometimes sleeps 3-4 hours during the day. She is 22 months old.

Nina J replied: Wait until you put her to bed tonight, then I think you'll know. If she doesn't go to sleep as she normally does, then you'll know if sleeping 4 hours in the morning is messing up her sleep cycle smile.gif

How is it going now that your back at work?

holley79 replied: Well DH is giving her a bath right now as we speak and will we trying to put her to bed. I keep my fingers crossed that she doesn't give him too much of a problem with going to bed. I am doing fine with being back at work. It's tough because I don't get to pump like I want to because we are so busy. Other then that things are back to where they were before she was born. I am tired though. sleep.gif

I am sure I will be getting a phone call before much longer of an update from DH. If she give him too much grief then I am going to have to forfeit my sleep tomorrow to keep her up. blink.gif Luckily I can do my job in my sleep.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Andrew took loooong naps at that age, too. If it does start effecting her sleeping at night you can stop taking such long naps, but I'll bet its fine. wink.gif She might also be going through a growth spurt now and sleeping a lot because of it.

holley79 replied: I sure hope it doesn't mess her up. I can handle no sleep but DH gets VERY cranky. rolling_smile.gif

jacobsmama replied: Jacob always took long naps and slept at night. He is 2 and still take 2-3 hour naps. wink.gif Good luck tonight!!!

~~*Missi*~~ replied: Be happy LOL at two months Sabrina slept 12-14hours at night and only napped 10-15 minutes twice a day.

I am pretty sure thou normal at the age is (or average) wake up play eat poop pee then nap for 2-4 hours. Wake up play eat poop pee then go back asleep for 2-4 more hours plus then sleep at least 8hours at night.

They don't "drop" the morning nap til 6m or so...... Then its usually wake up play for at least 4 hours nap for 2-4hours wake up from nap play again and go to sleep 4-5 hours later.

Your not doing anything that i didn't do if I could have at 2 months. I would count your blessing that she sleeps like that. i would have killed for a nap at that age with sabrina but once up she was up except little power naps.

luvmykids replied: Mine all slept 4 hours during the day until about 18mos-2 years, but in two chunks of time, from 10am-noon and 2pm-4pm, but they still slept from 7p-7a. Did she also take an afternoon nap? I think 4-6 hours during the day is pretty average for her age. Good luck!

A&A'smommy replied: heck no we did stuff like that all the time, enjoy it!!

Edward's Mommy replied: I can't even get Edward to sleep through the night at 8 months! Or take a nap during the day! I envy you! laugh.gif hug.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Some children require less sleep, some more. By the sounds of it she seems right where she should be. If you find it is causing more grief than necessary, then you can adjust accordingly. But for right now, you are not messing up. She is fine. Don't second guess yourself, she will let you know what is working and what is not. Soon enough she will require less and less sleep. Until then, keep her on the schedule she is on.

Similiar to Monica, Christian took two naps a day, until she was somewhere between 15mos and 17mos when Kellie came along. Kellie needed two naps a day, but with Christian plating with her she only had one as an infant. Now they take between a 2-4hr nap, with late nights since Chris and I get home late. They are otherwise happy, healthy and normal for their ages.

Best wishes to you!! hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif
