I think she is weaned!!!
Jamison'smama wrote: Well it took a little while ---at my first OB appointment (6 weeks ago), Jamison was nursing about 2-3 times per day--my goal was to have her weaned if possible by my 20th week. We removed the first thing in the morning nursing--it usually occured because we like to lay around and cuddle in the morning so I would just get up and take her downstairs for breakfast---in a couple of weeks she no longer asked to nurse--now we cuddle again.
Then there was the naptime nursing---that was harder so I had to make it a point to drive around during naptime to get her sound asleep then transfer her without nursing---it took a few days for her to not wake up and ask to nurse---I did have to say not now--nite nite but didn't result in too many upset moments (which SHOCKED me)
Finally 4 nights ago, Jamison fell asleep on the way home from friends around her bedtime so we just were able to transfer her---the next night I just started saying---all gone--no more na na etc. She was okay---kind of like when her sippy cup is empty. It has worked for the last three nights and I really think there is no more "na na" in there. I can't believe how well she is taking it--this is a pretty high strung--demanding child!!! I think my supply was pretty low and it made it a little easier.
I am kind of sad but it is a really good thing---I will get a few months break!
amynicole21 replied: Wow! That's so great that you were able to do it so gently and without too much upset! Looks like you'll get a break before the baby gets here! Woo Hoo!!
ediep replied: yay!! Good Work!!! Glad you'll get a break!
kit_kats_mom replied: Horray for you! K was down to 1-2 times a day without too much fussing if I told her "not now" for all but the nighttime session. However, with the upcoming move & Daddy being gone so much, she's back to asking for it all the time. I guess we will work towards lessening her sessions once we are settled.
Jamison'smama replied: We are moving---hopefully in the next couple of months--just waiting for this house to sell so I am thankful we were able to do this now or she would have been the same way!!! Next step---sleeping in her own room
DansMom replied: Wow, it's exciting to see these kids moving to the next phase in their lives. It's great that she was able to wean so easily---you must have done things right!
paradisemommy replied: awe..that's so awesome that things went so well!! such a bittersweet milestone!!
Jamison'smama replied: Okay, don't you hate it when you go back and read what you type and there are all kinds of errors --I can't figure out how to edit the heading--"I thinks she is weaned" what was I thinking?
Oh well!
MommyToAshley replied: Aweee So bittersweet!
I am glad that you were able to wean her so gently though. You have given her the best start in life, what a great Mom!
MommyToAshley replied: I do that all the time, I wonder if everyone here wonders if I am literate. LOL!
You can edit your message, but I think you have to be a mod of the forum to edit the title. Not sure why, I will see if TLCDad can modify the settings. In the meantime, I did edit the title for you.
amynicole21 replied: Hey! How did you change the heading? Or did Dee Dee do it for you?
amynicole21 replied: too quick for me, Dee Dee!
MomToMany replied: I'm glad it went so smoothly for you!! Congratulations!! Enjoy your break in between children!!
coasterqueen replied: Glad the weaning process was slow and the best for the both of you. Congrats and how exciting to take the next *step* in life here
Kaitlin'smom replied: goad it went well for you
kimberley replied: wow sounds like a smooth transition. good luck with sleeping in her own room. that was (is) a tough one in our house.
