I was so aggravated.. - VENT

favre4fan wrote: last night I came out of target and walked by this car and this stupid women put her child(maybe between1-2 years old)in the FRONT seat of the car, NO car seat!! I wanted to walk up to her and ask her if she knows if she were to get in a wreck that her baby could die!! I went to my car and sure enough she pulled away in her car and the baby was till in the front. i wish there were some kind of number you could call and report such stupidity! I also saw last week when my 12 year old was with me , some parents driving in a truck they were buckled up and there little girl was standing up bouncing around the cab of the truck. Even my son is smart enough to comment they should have that kid in a seat belt u just never know when u might get in a wreck!! ARghh I wish police would spend more time catching people like that than pulling my dh over because his front liscense plate wasn't on his car!!! mad.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: mad.gif OH I know it inferiates me when I see people acting so irresponsibly with there children! We kept Claudia rear facing until she was 2 years old, she is barely 24lbs now and she looks so tiny in her carseat.

5littleladies replied: That makes me so mad!!! How irresponsible is that?? mad.gif

Your post reminded me of something that made me FURIOUS a few weeks ago. I was out driving and this car pulled past me that had 5 kids in the back seat, all unbuckled. The kicker? The person had paramedic license plates!!!! I would think a paremedic would have seen enough terrible things to be not be so stupid and irresponsible!

There really should be a way to report these people! dry.gif

My2Beauties replied: Oooh that burns me up!!! mad.gif People can be so stupid. My DF's mom has an 8 year old that is really small and doesn't weigh but about 50 pounds and refuses to put him in a booster seat because...well he's 8 years old!!!!! She barely makes him put his seat belt on. I yell at him everytime we get in the car to put it on, when we go on long trips, like to my dad's down in Alabama, I can look back there 2-3 times during the trip and what has he done, taken off his seat belt and is sitting on his feet mad.gif And it's like I can't be mad at him because that is what he is used to! Burns me up! Whereas DSD she never once takes off her seat belt during the ride! We have definitely instilled safety into her! smile.gif

Boys r us replied: Well, call me a nosey nelly who butts her nose into other people's business, but I've been known to call the police when I see thsi happen! I HATE IT! People are so wreckless with their most precious commodity..their children!

favre4fan replied: I think that if they give a fine here in dallas for no seatbelt wearing thwey should definately give an extra fine too these people, and of course the dumb ones that leave their kids alone in the car!!

Josie83 replied: My goodness that is ridiculous. Don't people like that care about their kids at all? xx

amynicole21 replied: There is a number you can call (at least in FL). I'll have to find it. Basically, you give them the plate #'s and they track down the owner and send them a letter stating that they were spotted travelling with unsecured children. If they are caught again they will be fined.

It's a start anyway!

My2Beauties replied: I wonder if there is a number like that in KY?? DF's mom has even been pulled over and told this...it's ridiculous that she continues to let him do it!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: My mother always told me that God watches out for the stupid people and protects the children of the stupid. Everytime I see that I just say a little prayer for those kids. It is the least I can do and really the only thing I can do.

Kaitlin'smom replied: thats simply terrible.

MommyToAshley replied: I saw something similar.

I saw a couple come out of a store, buckle themselves in the car and then put the two year old on front passengers lap. She sure buckled herself in... mad.gif I wanted to go say something, but they pulled away. I just don't get people like that! mad.gif

mama3x replied: That kind of thing drives me nuts all of the time, mad.gif especially when in the past, where I have worked, a part of the job was to teach mother's about car seats and installing them, etc.

I don't understand how someone can go through the trials of being pg, of labor and delivery, and the first year of baby's life then do something stupid like not use a car seat! I know it's not good to use a second-hand one but that's better than nothing if you're short on money! OR better yet catch the bus! AUGH!

Sorry about that, irritable today and this topic got me all huffed up. There's a number to call here in Hawai`i too but the gov't has been cutting services so I haven't heard an ad for the number in a long time. dry.gif If they need revenue they really should enforce the car seat law.

kimberley replied: dry.gif completely irresponsible! my boys are 6 and 8yo and i don't allow them in the front seat!! it is sad because it will take a real tragedy before these stupid parents wake up! dry.gif

mrshires replied: I'm in FL, and I just call the *FHP on my cell phone. They forward it as necessary. I know MO had *55 if you were on HWY 55 where you can get in touch with the hwy patrol.

I called on someone last week b/c she was parked on the side of one busy street, but in front of the median for another! There was no driver in the car, and she had her door open and standing outside b/c it was too hot. But her dc, who looked 3 or so, was jumping from back seat to front seat, with all the windows rolled up. It's still hot down here, was up in the 80s last week!!

I called the hwy patrol on them too. If it's legit, like the car broke down (why they wouldn't go the 10 ft just to be on the side of the rd instead of that busy place I don't know), then they help them, but they get the stupid people.

loveydad replied: oh that pisses me off sooooooo bad! I was driving around town not long ago and there was this woman driving around with her 1 year old IN HER LAP! While she drove! GRR! That just burns me up! I hate it when people go to walmart with a baby who's obviously WAY WAY too big for their infant carrier and the poor baby is all scrunched up in it!
