If it's not one kid, it's the other - now we have the FLU!
kit_kats_mom wrote: We went to visit my hometown and my mom helped with the girls. She started sneezing on Sunday & on Monday she was feeling a cold coming on. Welp, L caught it & so did I. However, it is not a cold, it is the flu as proven by the test in our peds office this morning. Lauren was up all night lethargic and a 101-103 degree fever. When she wasn't lethargic (scary) she was screaming bloody murder & wheezing. She had the coughs too. I was getting ready to take her to the er but DH who is not sick, had the brain capacity to rock her, give her pedialite & a cool washrag. Such a good daddy. So DH took K to the sitters this AM for me and I got Lauren to the ped. I wasnted to rule out any respritory thing since she had RSV at 2 weeks. He did a test and it is the flu. He was shocked since she did get the flu shot but he said it's been going around. So he perscribed tamiflu for both girls and nebulizer treatments for L again since she is wheezing. I need to keep her fever under control and keep an eye on her breathing and her hydration levels...all while battling the flu myself. On top of all that, our ped is also our sitters ped and their dd was hospitalized all of last week with a severe kidney infection. She has urniary reflux and so until they get all of the toxins out of her body, her immune system is compromised. So, he told me to go get K out of there for everyone's sake. Now I'm home with an active 3yo, a very pitifully sick baby who refuses to be put down and all I want to do is sleep. pity party for me.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Oh you poor thing. Can DH take off tomorrow and help you? I hope you all feel better fast and no one else gets it.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Goodness Cary! I guess living in a warmer climate doesn't help much with the cold and flu season huh? I hope all the sickies leave your house soon. Poor Lauren ~ it sounds like she's miserable.
DansMom replied: Uggh, the flu---that's wretched, Cary. I hope everyone heals quickly!
jcc64 replied: I didn't know there was a test for the flu. Live and learn. So much for the flu shot, huh? Man, Cary, you can't catch a break. I know how terrifying it is to see them all lethargic- I totally freak out. Glad Woody keeps a calm head. Hope K escapes it. That's the last thing you/she needs. Healing vibes, hon. Hope it passes quickly. (and how come you didn't get the Tamiflu?)
amynicole21 replied: OMG, that is awful I'm so sorry. I hope you all are on the mend quickly!!

MommyToAshley replied: I was going to say the same thing. I learned something new, I thought it was just diagnosed by symptoms.
I hope you and Lauren are feeling better, and K doesn't get it. Sending you some healing and good luck vibes.
Get better soon!
