I'm a bad Mommy!
Kirstenmumof3 wrote: Yesterday we took the kids to the park. Emily and Spencer were climbing all over the equipment (in ways they shouldn't be) and walking up the slides. I told them that they couldn't do this because there were to many older children in the playground. I was worried that the younger children would start doing what they were doing. I let them know that if they continued to do this we would leave. Well we had just put Claudia on the slide when I got distracted by the older 2. Claudia slid down, when she got to the end of the slide she tried to get off the slide by herself. Then she fell face first into the dirt, she scraped her cheek and now she has a fat lip. I felt so awful. Needless to say we left the park and came home. We stopped at the store and bought her a popsicle. She looks rough this morning, her little face all scraped up.
MommyToAshley replied: Oh sweetie, that happens. I don't have any other children to distract me and Ashley still gets tons of scrapes and bruises! I remember how horrible I felt when her face was scraped up, but I think it hurt me worse than her.
Here's some hugs for Claudia and Mommy!
mummy2girls replied: AWWWW hun things happen. I think hurts us parents more then the kids. Ive had things like that happen with jenna at work when i had her with me. (((BIG HUGS)))
aspenblue1 replied: Aww these things happen. I don't have any other kids to distract me and Isabella managed to flip over the railing on my porch.
I hope Claudia is feeling better. BIG HUGS to Claudia and Mommy!
amynicole21 replied: Awwww!~ You're not a bad mommy... it happens to all of us. We can't be there to prevent every boo boo, but I sure wish I could be
CantWait replied: Don't feel bad. I did the same thing to Robbie when he was a toddler. he went down the slide and I wasn't there, face first into the gravel
kimberley replied: awww poor baby don't beat yourself up over it Kirsten. it happens to all of us in a blink of an eye. i hope she is healed up soon. hugs to you both.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Claudia is doing well, the lip swelling has gone down and the road rash on her face is starting to fade. She's a little trooper, but mommy is still upset that it happened.
DansMom replied: Daniel almost walked over the threshold of a flight of uncarpeted basement stairs at a Memorial Day get-together yesterday. I and another mommy flew across the room just as he was approaching the doorway. Some older kids had left the darn door open after repeated admonitions!! (there was a play-space down there). When you're in an unfamiliar environment and there is a lot happening it's much harder to stay on top of every possibility---you're doing a great job as a mommy! I hope Claudia feels better soon.
Deana_momto4 replied: OH my I so know how hard it is to watch and make sure the kids are safe when you have more than one to watch. I know Chasity has fallen and scraped herself several times outside and although I hate it,it does happen. Dont beat yourself up because it definitely isnt your fault. Im glad your lil' girl wasnt seriously hurt.I know I am getting ready to stock up on band-aids,and neosporin on my next visit to walmart,LOL,since summer is almost here.
paradisemommy replied: awe kirsten, don't beat yourself up..taven has taken a spill many many times and i, like you, blame myself every time but it's true..we can't be there EVERY time they take a spill. we can't just follow them around all the time and save them..some things they have to learn even though it's the hard way and it just kills us!! at least she didn't get hurt too bad..and i'm happy to hear she is doing better!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: dont feel bad, Kailtin has a few bug bits from being out side at the sitters, had a scraped knee, elbow and fell on the back of her head on our padio getting out of her little pool, needless to says she has many bumps and brusies right now and now I have gotten some bug guard for her diper bag, so hopefully she wont get anymore bites, moved the little pool (daddy did not want it in the grass...)into the grass, and she is healing. I want to get some pictures taken of her for her 18 month bday comming up, hopefully she will not get anymore.
jem0622 replied: Gabe did something similar. Hugs to Claudia and Mommy. It happens!

coasterqueen replied: Aww, don't feel bad. Kylie is CONSTANTLY taking spills. She has concrete burns on both of her legs, bruises, bumps, you name it she has it.
The other day when I was a sick, I somehow got on the wrong side of the bed and Kylie fell off and got a huge bump on her head from where she fell off and then later that evening I was not watching because I was among the dead (lol) and she got ahold of my deoderant (don't know how, but oh well) and she ate some.
I'd say I had a pretty bad mommy day on Monday, lol.
