akbutterfly83 wrote: Hello everyone... I kow I haven't been around much, alot going on.... but I have been lurking adn posting when I can.....
well anyway, yesterday I was running th ebath and baby was by my computer..... so I ran downstairs to get my hamper and when I came back he was in the tub, kicking..... he fell in face first, I grabed him and fliped him up side down and hit his back a few times... and some water came out... he was coughing the whole time..... it's not like he wasn't breathing, but that was so scary.....
Then I turned off the tub and was holding him..... after he calmed down I was all wet, from his diaper so I was changing.... well I have a little bissle spot remover.. the hand held ones.... and it was charging.... pluged in the wall and the other end in the machine... well he took the end out of the machine and put it in his mouth and shoked himself..... Now I gotta close all the doors....
I told my hubby what happened and everything is better... he held Mason for a few hours last night.... rocked him, fed him, played with him, and all that.... they fell asleep in the chair.... it was so cute....
But I feel really bad... like I wasn't watching him closer or something.... and the basket was @ the bottom of the stairs.... like a 3 second run up and down..... it was so scary.. all of it.... Am I really a bad mommy....?
Alice replied: OF course not!!!! A bad mommy wouldn't be upset!!
But the tub thing is scary-- they can drown in those 3 seconds, so that's one you've got to watch.
This from a mom whose 2 1/2 year old took my car keys this morning, went outside and locked herself in my car... all while I was putting away a load of laundry upstairs (when I went up, she was coloring at the dining room table.) Sure, the one time I forget to use the hook and eye that's up high-- she knows how to unlock the locks she can reach.
gr33n3y3z replied: No your not a bad Mommy

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I agree!! I'm glad he's ok - as I'm sure you are too. :hug
PrairieMom replied: Your not a bad Mommy, just learn you lesson. I am always learning the hard way. 1/2 the time I don't even know what to be watching for until I catch my little one in the middle of some death defying feat!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Goodness no you aren't a bad mommy. Sometimes we forget how mobile they are. Just be sure and watch him a little more carefully from now on.
angelhair replied: you are not a bad mommy! once when i was in the bathroom i came out and it was to quiet. my three year old(the beby was not born yet) opened the door and let himsrlf outside. I had a heart attack as there is a park across the street but you have to cross the road to get it. thank God he only went in the backyard but now i always lock the door no matter what. all mommys have mishaps. believe me you are in good company. love dee
A&A'smommy replied: OH no you are definitly NOT a bad mommy things happen things like that I have had similar things happen so don't feel to bad most mommies do!!
Mom2Boyz replied: You're definatly NOT a bad mommy We had a very scary ordeal last week, and It made me ask myself if I was a bad mommy too. Kids are quick, and WAYYYYYYY smarter than we usually give them credit for. You've just learned now that it's time to start shutting doors, and keeping things up high out of his reach. BIG BIG BIG (((((HUGS))))) for you
akbutterfly83 replied: Thanks everyone for all the kind words..... I needed that.....
massagemommy replied: Maybe if you had *given* him the Bissell to keep him busy -- that might make you a bad mommy . . .
Stacie30 replied: definitely not a bad mommy, otherwise I'm worse!! When my daughter was 3 years old I fell asleep on the couch for about 10 minutes.. when I woke up I heard a strange sound- like a lawn mower in the distance- I went to check on her and her brother and found her sitting on her bed with the shaver/clippers.. she said "look mommy I comb hair" she had taken the shaver (with no attachment) and shaved a stripe up the middle of her beautiful long blonde hair from her forehead to the crown.... I was mortified and had no way to fix it but to shave her head!! i felt horrible. to top it off when I took her to daycare the next day and they asked her what happened to her hair she said "mommy shaved it off"... nice one huh?
don't beat yourself up too bad. he lived through it and its not like you left him in the tub while you went into the basement to smoke crack or something. LOL!!
My3LilMonkeys replied: You are most definately not a bad mommy!! Everyone makes mistakes, and our children are much faster and smarter than we think! When Madison was 3 months old she used to lay in bed with us after her 6 am feeding - and I "knew" she couldn't roll over the pillow I laid next to her to keep her on the bed. But of course one morning she did roll over the pillow, off the bed and land on the floor.
These scares happen to all of us - we just need to make sure we learn from our (and each others') mistakes!
