I'm back
coasterqueen wrote: I'm back from St. Louie . We sent Dh on a plane at 4:30 am this morning and the girls and I headed for home at 6:45 am. I got in to work at 9:30 so I just need to work through my lunch hour today so I don't have to take a half day today like I thought. Whew! I'm so . I didn't sleep all night last night with worry and then to be moving so early this morning. Thank goodness the cops were nice and stayed off the road this morning because I was determined to get home without falling asleep.
I gave Megan some tylenol before we left this morning so she would sleep because on the way down to St. Louis the other day she screamed LITERALLY for 2 hours! We stopped FIVE times in a two hour road trip so I could calm her down and nothing worked. I ended up just having to drive through her screaming because I didn't know what else to do . So I'm very thankful the tylenol worked wonders for her and she slept through the whole ride this morning. I don't think I could have taken a screaming baby this morning on the way home. I was too tired.
We had a great day yesterday with daddy. We went to Grant's Farm and had a blast, despite the extreme heat. It was worth it and relaxing. Last night was a bit more not-relaxing because I was trying to get DH's clothes laundered and bags all packed, etc - but it was still a great visit. I thank my lucky stars we got that one day visit with him since we may not get to see him for 60 days. He's going to beg for a visit after 30 days but we aren't holding our breath.
Dh was made a P.A.C. officer so he will be in charge of 7 other people and will deal with elected officials in the Louisianna area as well as federal elected officials. He's a bit sad because he didn't want this responsibility because it makes it harder to say "I'm outta here" in 90 days but I tried to make him see the good in it and so I hope he has. I didn't dare tell him I'm afraid about what will happen in 90 days though. I know he mentioned that there is a possibility of him having to stay longer but that he's hearing they'll pay him enough so I can quit my job and they'll move us out to LA. But I don't want that. Why would I uproot our family to LA when we won't even see DH at all. He'll be working 17 hour days and so he'll only be home to sleep and he only gets a long weekend every 30 to 60 days so to me it's not worth me uprooting our family even if it meant I could SAH with my children. Not worth my kids not seeing their daddy very much, for sure! I'd rather him just do his 90 days and get back home so we can see him every night.
Anyways, DH will be living in a tent , guess it's better than his car. Although when traveling he'll be living in his car because there are no hotels.
Anyone know an online place to have bottled water shipped to him? The LOVELY government isn't going to provide things like that to him while he's traveling the state, even though they told him he can't drink the water so I have to find someone to get bottled water shipped to him. I'm realizing more and more how the government isn't going to take very good care of him while he's there, but what can I say.
You all have been talking A LOT since I've been gone. Now to try to catch up.
amymom replied: Wow that is alot to take in. I am praying for you and hubby and the girls. Just know we are here for you.
Welcome back.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm glad you got to spend some time with him. I'm sorry Megan screamed on the way. I hope the girls are good tonight so you can get some rest. You are such a good wife for taking the time to go up there alone with 2 kids.
I hope you get to see Ryan sooner than expected.
amynicole21 replied: I'm glad you got to spend some time with him. I bet the girls were so excited to see him! I guess my only advice is take it day-by-day. Hopefully, things will be better than you think.
A&A'smommy replied: WOW girl!!! Its a wonderful thing your dh is doing... I'm glad you got home safely!!!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I'm glad you had a good time!! And that the cops stayed away from you. Sorry Megan screamed the whole way there... I'm glad she was better for you on the way home.
Prayers that your DH gets permission for a visit after 30 days!!
mom21kid2dogs replied: Sounds like it was a really nice visit. How did the girls do with him leaving? Glad your drive home was more peace filled than the trip there!!! (((Everybody go to sleep early tonight)))) vibes to you!!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: Wow glad yoru back and the visit was nice I am so glad you got to see him. Sorry about Megan screaming the entire way, and that DH will be in a tent and not taken very good care of. Will he have an address to ship to? If so just look for ol-line places that sell bottled water. I found a few when I did a google search.
DansMom replied: This is such an amazing thing he's doing. I agree, I wouldn't uproot after 90 days either. I hope he'll be able to come home then.
redchief replied: Welcome back and hang in there Karen! Our prayers are with you and your family.
I don't know any companies that will ship water to him. Any reason he can't buy and keep a supply on hand from a supermarket?
coasterqueen replied: Ed,
His instructors told them "fat chance on getting supplies" in the areas he will be in. So I really don't know if he'll get the opportunity to buy these types of things or not. I know he has been okayed from his employer to have me ship supplies to him (toiletries and such) free of charge (they'll pay for them) so I guess their assumption is he won't have a lot of access to these things. His FEMA contract made it seem that way as well. So I .
He had to report in Baton Rouge at noon today so I'm hoping he'll find out more things and HOPEFULLY will be able to call me tonight. They were told cell phone service in the affected areas is hard to get so who knows.
My2Beauties replied: I'm glad you had a nice time w/ DH! I hope you can find a company that will allow you to ship water to him, that is terrible that they won't supply water
kimberley replied: glad you got to spend some time with DH. sorry the drive up was so hectic. i am sorta surprised they aren't doing more for DH either. thank goodness he has a loving wife like you to take care of him. hang in there hon.
kayla's mama replied: Glad you got to see your hubby for a while. Did you go up in the Arch? I'm from St. Louis. I sure do miss it. Anyway, you've probably posted before, where are you since it only took 2 hrs to get to STL. Poor Megan, bet it wasn't fun listening to her for 2 hours.
gr33n3y3z replied: I'm glad your back safe and sound
If I were you I just would ship it down yourself once you get an address from him.
If you need anything at all from us send me a PM
(( Hugs )) to you and your family Prayers for your hubby
