I'm flying to NY on Friday... - To be w/ my sister Kat.

ashtonsmama wrote: For sure--we just decided, if all goes as planned, I'll be departing at 6:45 AM on Friday morning and getting back next week, we think on next Saturday or Sunday. So I'll be there for a good week or so...I've been talking back and forth with Kat in the hospital and she really sounds like she needs me there, and that's why I'm going--I wasn't going to go if she didn't want me, but she says that she does, so I really want to go now.

I'm really nervous about flying with Ashton at 4 months old, I'm pretty sure it's ok for him, right? I know it's going to be crazy, I know about nursing during take-off and landing, etc. but I just hope I can handle it. It's a pretty long flight. 4 hours or something? Please send us all some safe travel vibes and continue the prayers for Kat, her DH, and Jadie. I'm going to be taking care of Jade and Ashton by myself, her DH needs to get back to work ASAP, so I'm extremely nervous I won't be able to handle those two at once, so please send me some good thoughts on that too. I was also wondering if Jade (I know this may sound wierd) but if she would nurse if I tried to BF her?

I'm just in a frenzy right now. Packing now, getting on the phone, calling everyone, etc. ACK. But I am glad I'm going. I really think I'll be able to help her. At least Jade will have someone to take care of her, and I'll get to meet her, which I'm very excited about. I just hope her and A take it easy on me...I'm going to have a 4 month old and a 2 month old to take care of...

It's a good rush though...I feel at peace with this decision to go, I think it's going to be a good thing in the end.

I'll be on hopefully before we leave a couple times, but I'll be MIA for a little over a week or so, so just a heads-up.
I'll miss you all.

C&K*s Mommie replied: We will miss you too, Amanda. Be safe. wub.gif

Wet nursing is something like what you may be speaking of with Jade. It is all worth a shot. If she is hungry, she more than likely will, if not then that is that. If you sister if totally comfortable with it, I say go for it. thumb.gif

Praying for peace for you, that you will have a clear mind to focus on what needs to be done in the next day or so, and a clear mind to focus on the tasks at hand over the next week or two. hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

I'll miss you all too-

And I'm going to be talking with Kat today about nursing Jade, heck if it helps her, I'll gladly try, but will my milk hold up for A?

ashtonsmama replied:
Thanks Missi. I PM'd back.

C&K*s Mommie replied: I am not 100% sure of what you mean, so here is one shot in the dark explanation: Your body will produce as much as it needs to regulate the additional feedings that it knows you are needing. If that makes any sense. Same way if you suddenly stopped nursing all together. Eventually your body will gather that it no longer needs to produce anything, and the supply will decrease and cease all together.

If you are successful at feeding Jade, then when you go back strictly to Ashton-- then you will have an overload of sorts but eventually your body will once again right itself. Our bodies (as women and mothers) are amazing! wub.gif

ashtonsmama replied:
Sorry-that didn't get worded right. You got my question though, thanks for trying to answer, that made sense, and I'm glad to hear that, I sort of knew that already, but that did reassure me, I'm pretty nervous about trying it, but I think that if she takes it, I'll definitely try to make it work while I'm there.

luvbug00 replied: upstate ehh? not too bad of a flight. Good luck and well wishes for your sis!

Mommy_Michele replied: Just have fun! Do you have a computer there so you can post?

holley79 replied: You enjoy your sister. Is there someone that can keep Ashton for a bit while you have some alone time with her? You have a safe flight. hug.gif hug.gif

Our Lil' Family replied: I am so glad you are able to go to be with your sister. That is where you feel you need to be. I will pray that things aren't too hard on you.

ashtonsmama replied:
Thanks, I'll try. It'll be nice to see her at least, I know it will be hard and probably stressful too, but at least I can be there for her.
And I may be able to use my BIL's computer, but I'll be so busy with the babies I'm sure I won't have time to get on here and post much, so I'm hoping to at least have time to email Missi and have her pass along the updates I can eek out.

And thanks Holley--hopefully Ashton will like his Uncle and be ok staying with him and Jade while I visit her at night, but he does work during the day, he's a Wall Street man so he's got pretty long hours he said.
