I'm really starting to get very depressed

coasterqueen wrote: about my weight. sad.gif growl.gif and angry I guess too, lol.

I didn't lose more than 5 or 10 pounds after having Megan, yep. Then I lost a bit more but have only lost a total of 20 pounds after Megan was born and that's giving birth to her, placenta, water weight, etc. So not much. I have about 40 more to go sad.gif and that's just what I gained with being pg.

My weight is 167 today. sad.gif blush.gif The lowest it's been was 160.5 but the scale just kept going up. I thought it was my eating habits since I snack alot w/bf but I cut that all out and the scale went back down from 167 to 164.5. Just those few pounds started to give me motivation. With all the pains I'm feeling lately (either Rheumatoid arthritis like doc thinks or something else) so working out is too painful, although I can walk some and am doing that.

Anyways, I keep retaining water and I don't know why. One day I can't wear my wedding rings, my clothes fit tight and the scale goes up. Then a few days later the scale either goes back to normal or stays the same, rings fit, clothes fit again, etc. Seriously one day I can't get my rings on, the next day I can. This keeps happening over and over again like a yo-yo. sad.gif

It just keeps happening sad.gif What is wrong with me? Why do I keep retaining water? I'm not eating anything out of the norm and so I know it's not that. I don't have AF yet, although I'm having all the cramps, ovulation, etc just no flow. But that's not a 24/7 thing so it wouldn't explain the constant yo-yo water retention.

Anyone got any ideas? I'm so depressed right now and so sick to my stomach about my body I can't stand it. I want to get back on WW but can't get motivated. If I could just keep a few pounds off like I had been without this stupid yo-yo effect I know I could get going here. sad.gif

A&A'smommy replied: hug.gif hug.gif girl do you see MY ticker after having alyssa I weight 169 THAT is it I lost a few more pounds after that but my weight kept going up I now weigh 189 and it BUGS me I'm trying to be happy with who I am on that inside and understand that the outside is a working progress.. Join weight watchers you will feel SOO much better about yourself I have started a little bit to see if I could do it (i got a bunch of stuff off the internet) and I think I'm going to join either tomorrow or the next day I'm going to do it online so I can keep up with it that way. hug.gif hug.gif ALSO water retention how much water are you drinking? and are you drinking sodas or anything with sodium in it? Try limiting ALL sodium in your foods AND in your drinks for at least two weeks that will help and then SLOWLY work back in a few things don't completly stop but that will help cleanse all the extra sodium out of your body and you shouldn't have too much trouble after that. I have REALLY bad water weight retention my mother does to and that is what I did now I can drink a soda a day or every other day and not have any problems hug.gif hug.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: Karen, I'm sorry you are having a hard time. Remember that it took a long time to get bigger during the pregnancy, try to just go slow and steady to lose it. Those stupid celebs who get back into a size 0 a few weeks after giving birth have a lot more help than we do and they are making themselves sick.

I'd just try to cut out all salt & make sure you are drinking lots of water. I don't have any other suggestions. Just some hugs. hug.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: (((HUGS))) Karen I'm sorry - I know how depressing that is believe me. rolleyes.gif I weigh a little more than you do right now - this is the biggest I have ever been and it sucks - and it's really hard for me to get motivated too. I don't know why you're retaining water so much, that's really strange. blink.gif Maybe someone else would have some ideas about it, or maybe you should ask your doctor. He might be able to figure out what's going on. But I wouldn't count what you weigh on the days that you can't get your rings on - it's obviously just water weight try not to let the scale depress you on those days and just go with what the scale says on the days you're not retaining water. Are you drinking lots of water too? I know drinking lots of water is supposed to help keep you from retaining it because if you're not drinking enough your body will hang onto as much of it as it can so you don't get dehydrated. Plus drinking tons of water is supposed to help with weight loss too. If all you can do is drink lots of water and go walking that it will help. That's what I need to start doing again. rolleyes.gif

booey2 replied: Oh Karen, GIGANTIC HUGS COMING YOUR WAY. hug.gif

All I can suggest is that you may want to try the CORE program from ww. It may just be the kick start/flush your body needs. I love it. Hang in there you too will start to melt away once your body is ready.

If you are drinking diet pops becareful because they are loaded with sodium. I totally agree, go back and give ww a go, you have nothing to lose but pounds.

Kaitlin'smom replied: hug.gif I will join you Karen I am to bouncing some LBS on and off and its so frustrating, coures I have not been so good with eating, and I cant seem to find time to get my behind to the gym growl.gif I am really mad at my self for that. I need to pick ONE night to go then once I get that done move up to 2 and keep adding as I can. I just havte taking away the time I do get with my family to go do something for me, I know I could walk with them but its been to darn humid out and my ashma flairs up in the humid weather. Heck my ticker is night right anymore I just dont want to change it, to depressing. Got to get back on track, truly I woul dbe happy with 20lbs off I know I need to drop more but for me 20 is the goal....with a mini gola of 10 to start. Sorry did not mean to go odff in my own world there just want you to know your NOT alone.

off to get more water and a low cal lunch

coasterqueen replied: Thanks everyone. I know it took a long time to get it on but I was only pg for 8 months and Megan is already 5 months, it's gonna take longer than 8 months to get this weight off. sad.gif

I did start drinking diet pop, against all my beliefs especially while BF to help me because I like soda and I thought it would at least help me not add the pounds but maybe that's why I'm retaining water.

I can't afford to join WW, but I've done it before and lost over 40 pounds before so I know I can do it. I just can't get the motivation going. I guess it just stinks this time around because I at least lost a lot more weight just giving birth to Kylie whereas I haven't with Megan. When I came home from the hospital after having Megan I literally lost less than 5 pounds! She weighed more than that! wacko.gif

Terri - I'll look into doing the core at home. I know you've posted about it before so I just need to go back and look at the threads.

Thanks everyone. I still think it's very strange to have so much water retention, though. Maybe I'll ask my doc about it.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I admit I want to try WW but I am affaid I will fail, stick to it or wont be able to follow it, I need somethign easy and convient. I wish I could find a pill or somethnig that would work but I knwo they dont exist sad.gif

booey2 replied:
I am not going to meetings right now but am doing it on my own, no $$ or time to go into WI right now. Check out their online stuff WW you can even join message boards there for free just by registering. I know I get a lot of support and questions answered there.(the canadian site for me) Just remember you are not alone in this quest, there are many of us still struggling. hug.gif

I am a firm beliver that the diet soda may be doing you in, before I was told about it I was chugging the stuff and retained tons of water til I found President's Choice, Diet, Caffine Free, Sodium Free Cola. Now I use it as a treat for me.

booey2 replied:
I hear ya Di about a magic pill but I have found the CORE method at ww to be do-able and not as constraining as the point way. You just have to wrap you mind around the food list. hug.gif

coasterqueen replied:
I used to frequent their site I need to get back on there. blush.gif Thanks for reminding me of that.

Is President's Choice a splenda diet soda? I know the brand. Splenda makes me sick so that's why I wondered. I need to make myself so decaf tea and toss the soda, but I might check out PC for a treat wink.gif. Thanks. thumb.gif

booey2 replied:
No it is definitely Aspertame in it.

I am always here to help me fellow friends in our battle of the scales.

kit_kats_mom replied: you may want to try diet rite too. no aspertame, calories, sodium or caffine

coasterqueen replied:
thanks Cary but Diet Rite has splenda in it and I for some odd reason can't stomach splenda. Dh drinks it, though.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I bought the Dr. Phil weigt loss book....

Can`t wait to get into it after this baby!!!

Course - once I stop breastfeeding, I`m going to be on the soup diet... hopefully I`llb e able to breastfeed longer than a few months this time - and by this time next year, I`ll be able to lose all the weight I want!!

(which is, at the moment, about 60 pounds.... ohmy.gif )

NummyMommy replied: I think youre on the right track with adding tea to your diet and ditching or limiting the soda....try decaf green tea its light and refreshing and has the most antioxidants. I dont know how it works but I heard from my doc (hes like an all natural doc....tries alternative stuff and such) that dehydration causes water retention in our tissues and if I'm feeling "plump" I need to drink more....waaaay more...he said 64 oz of plain water in addition to tea and juice. I have yet to be able to down all that water but when I try my best I usually feel better and have no edema. I'm in the same boat as you as far as not losing the weight right away....I'm still coasting at a lil below PP weight and my "baby" is 17 months old. I did lose a lot of the weight for awhile when she was 3-4 months because I started doing Pilates every day (thats the only exercize I can do because of my fibromyalgia sad.gif ) but as soon as I stopped it crept back up. So I've decided to start again as soon as the boys are in school. hug.gif I hope you are feeling better soon smile.gif hug.gif

CantWait replied: I'm with ya there, lose a couple, gain a few. Look at my ticker. I wasn't the most satisfied with my weight before Anthony, but I'd give anything to be 160 pounds ago instead of over 200. I've lost nearly all the muscle I ever had and it's disgusting. And that was 2 years ago (12 months ago if you count bf).
Good Luck, just remember you got a lot of us in the same boat as you, and we're pulling for ya also.

amynicole21 replied: Karen, I'm in the same boat. No motivation, and the scale actually going up instead of down sad.gif Waaaah! I have about 10lbs to go until I'm back to pre-pregnancy weight, then another 50 to go after that sad.gif sad.gif I guess that the older you get, the more difficult it is to get the weight off. dunno.gif Anyway, just wanted you to know you aren't alone. hug.gif
