I'm tired of not feeling well
Maddie&EthansMom wrote: I've not said anything here b/c I hate complaining about my health ALL the time, but I have not felt well in the longest time.
I was feeling great. I was working out everyday with no problems, no headaches, nothing. Then all of a sudden I started getting sick while I was working out...that progressed to not being able to make it to the gym b/c I felt so awful and all I wanted to do was lay around the house. I've always suffered from headaches and certain times of the month I get really fatigued, but this is just ridiculous.
I got a migraine last wednesday after a long day at six flags. It's really hot here so that isn't too out of the ordinary for me. The thing is, my headache hasn't gone away. Anytime I try to get out of the house or do anything it comes back. Now my ears hurt. Both of them. It feels like someone is stabbing something into my eardrum when I swallow. This, on top of a headache. Just a dull, lingering headache that's always there...I'm never certain when it might turn into a full blown migraine, either. I haven't slept in I don't know when. Scotty snores so as soon as I get to sleep his snoring wakes me up. I get hot in the night, my back hurts (still).
I'm so tired of not feeling well. I saw my OB/GYN a week ago today. She gave me some pain pills for my menstrual cramps (just prescription strength aleve) and she gave me some samples of an anti depressant for PMS. But you only take it 10 days before AF and that's it. I'm not sure how this is supposed to help me feel better. She said I'm not depressed, I just suffer from PMS. If I don't start feeling better I'm gonna be depressed.
I just want to feel normal. I'm healthy, I eat right, I work out regularly...I just don't get it.
A&A'smommy replied: I"m sorry honey I can't amagine feeling that way all the time but I can see what your going through my mom has the same problems except the pms. I'm going to send you LOTS of P&PT'S that you start to feel better.
amymom replied: Oh Gosh Aimee! I do know what it feels like to not feel well, but not exactly the same symptoms. Please feel better soon. I will say prayers and send positive thoughts your way. So sorry you feel yucky!!!!
luvmykids replied: I'm sorry Aimee, you must be exhausted and it's rotten to feel so "not right" ... Did your OB do blood workups or anything? If not I'd suggest having that done. I hope you start feeling better.
redchief replied: I'm sorry you're feeling so badly, Aimee. Have you consulted with an allergist? It almost sounds as if your recurrent migraines might be caused by chronic sinusitis (the clue was that your ears are hurting).
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm going to the doctor tomorrow to get this checked out. I've thought about this, too. Especially b/c my headaches are relieved by sneezing sometimes.
Thanks you guys.
Our Lil' Family replied: Ed beat me to it! I hope the doctor you see tomorrow can give you some insight as to what is bothering you. Let us know how it goes Aimee!!!
jcc64 replied: I'm sorry you're not feeling well, Aimee. My ob/gyn recently suggested I take an herbal supplement called either Vitex or chasteberry, for hormonal issues. I am not a big believer in supplements, so I was pretty skeptical, but I bought it anyway. I took it for about a month, and lo and behold, I am noticing positive changes. In fact, I was able to completely stop taking paxil, which I have relied on off and on for over 10 yrs. It's supposed to regulate hormonal imbalances and/or fluctuations that cause a variety of unpleasant symptoms. For me, it's anxiety and depression, but I think it's worth a shot for you to try it. Good luck and feel better.
kit_kats_mom replied: I go through phases like that too and it's so hard to snap out of it. I don't know what to tell you but I did want to offer lots of virtual hugs and feel better vibes.
Brias3 replied: I'm so sorry you are feeling this way.
I'd try to look further into the migraine situation. I used to be on prescription medicine for chronic and frequent migraines and felt a million times better when on it. They too were usually accompanied by other general characteristics of "not feeling well"- some nausea, cold-like symptoms, general icky-ness. It's worth checking out.
Vibes your way for feeling better soon!
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I'm sorry Aimee! I hope you can get it figured out soon and start feeling better!
coasterqueen replied: You sound like me lately. I've had migraines just about every day for weeks now. I had gotten rid of them for so long, years, and now they are back and I can't figure out why and PMS/AF is just worse than it ever has been.
First off, could you have been working out too much? If you were that is a lot of stress on the body and can't do any good. If you are back to working out go slowly, there really is no rush. Most of us have the rest of our lives to unfortunately work out . Or at least I do.
Second, have you tried something like a calcium/magnesium supplement for during ovulation/PMS/AF? I take one which helps a bit. I actually take it all month long. I also was taking 500 mg of Evening Primrose Oil and when I went to the health food store this weekend to find out what more I could take for AF I was told I could take up to 6000 mg of EPO, but with BF it was suggested I only take 3000 mg. The lady assured me that would make a huge difference in how I felt with AF around. So I'm slowly building up to the 3000 mg. I'd give this a try if you haven't, you might be suprised.
My doc gave me the anti-dep med to take right before AF too, didn't do a darn thing and just one more drug I would be pumping into my body.
I was also told Willow Bark is a good form of substitute for aspirin and such and great for migraines. I didn't buy any at the time because I only had so much money and AF is on her way so the EPO was more important at the time.
coasterqueen replied: Ooh, I might have to try that Jeanne. I had wondered how it was doing for you .
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Karen I'm only working out maybe twice a week. And I do the treadmill. I just don't have it in me to get my butt up there.
A friend recommended a great website where I can get some non pharmaceutical botanicals to help me. When I get the money I plan on ordering from them and trying that. They have 'formulas' that contain the chasteberry and all the other stuff that is good for AF/PMS. Well, here's the site Avena Botanicals
You all know how much I hate taking medicine...this is really disappointing for me to have to take anything and to not feel well.
I feel a little bit better today. I got some rest this morning. Ethan came to bed with us last night and when Scotty started his snoring I left the boys in our bed and got on the couch. Ethan woke up when Scotty was getting ready for work (way too early) and eventually he came and got on the couch with me and went back to sleep. We slept til 10 a.m. That's the best sleep I've had in WEEKS! Just those 2 hours. Oh and I took some advil around 6 this morning b/c I had yet another headache. But I don't have a headache right now and I plan on taking it easy today.
Thanks you guys for your support. It helps to know I'm not alone.
Kaitlin'smom replied: you sound miserable. I hoep you can find soething that does help you.
DansMom replied: As you can tell from the responses, Aimee, a lot of women have bad phases connected to PMS. For me, it's gotten worse as I get older. And don't forget that the modern lifestyle really is overloaded and you can't maintain that pace without things breaking down once in a while. I'm taking an herbal supplement to balance my endocrine system too. They really do seem to be helping. I hope the cloud lifts soon!
Halo42101 replied: & prayers that you feel better soon & will be able to get more sleep. I can sympathize with you about the migraines. I pray that the pain lifts soon!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: This happened to a friend of mine. She was fine, doing really well and then she started getting migranes and tired. She finally got fed up and went to the ER and they ran a whole bunch of tests, she saw her family doctor and he ran more tests. The more tired she became she seemed to fall into a depression. I think everything you are describing sounds more like depression, than PMS (of course I'm not an expert). I would go back to your doctor and have her run blood tests to determine the cause of your fatigue. It could be something as simple as an iron defficiancy. I know what it's like to be depressed, to not want to do anything, to want so hard to be able to do the things you once did. Please talk to your doctor, so you can start enjoying your life again! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!
gr33n3y3z replied: I hope you feel better soon hun
CantWait replied: Aimee, I hope you feel better soon. I know how much it sucks when you're not feeling well and can't stay in your routine. KUP on what works for you and what your doctor says.
Brias3 replied: How ya feeling these days, Aimee? Did you ever end up checking further into things with the doc yet?
