Important Question~~~~~
Mom2Boyz wrote: Ok, as most of you know, I found out last week that I am pg again. Well, last night, Conner started breaking out with this funky rash. It started on his feet, and by this morning it's all the way up his legs and stomach, and on his arms and hands. I called the peds office, and they said it sounds like Chicken Pox!!!!! I've heard that being exposed to Chicken Pox while pg can be devistating to the baby. But since I've already had it before do I need to worry? I'm FREAKING out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Boys r us replied: If you've had it before then you really shoudln't have anything to worry about. and to be honest, I can't believe his ped made such a broad statement! There are a million rashes out there and reasons for them...that aside from the fact that chicken pox generally never starts on arms, legs, hands or feet!!! Try not to freak and just get him into the dr and let them properly diagnose him hun!
Kaitlin'smom replied: I hate when doc's offices try to diagnose you before they see you. but if you have had it you should not have to much to worry about, as nichole said try not to freek out until they know for sure what he has
coasterqueen replied: I am going to whole heartedly agree with Nichole on this.
favre4fan replied: I agree with everyone since you have already had it , you should be fine. I wish dr. offices did not try and diagnose over the phone!!
A&A'smommy replied: I would take him to the docter and see what they say and then call your ob and ask him about it.
mummy2girls replied: I would say tajke him t his ped. They cant daignose till they see him. And then see your ob...
Mom2Boyz replied: Thanks for the advice guys!! His peds office wouldn't even allow me to bring him in because "IF" he had chicken pox they didn't want other children exposed So I took him to the E.R. and he does NOT have it!!! He has an infection in his throat, and the er dr said that is probably what caused the rash as well. He gave him a rx for antibiotics, and said to give him benedryl for the rash. I could just smack the nurse at the peds office!!!
aspenblue1 replied: I think I would find a differnt ped office if they refused to see him. That is awful! I know when Isabella had a reaction to her chicken pox vac her drs off brought her right in they just had me enter through the back door.
Alice replied: Don't smack her... put it in writing-- worded strongly-- to the pediatrician. He needs to know what's going on. Include the fact that you weren't allowed to bring Conner in... does the doctor know that or does the nurse think she's running the office? This does not sound like a professional setup.
For what it's worth, when pregnant, direct all your questions to the OBGYN. They've probably heard it all before, and they'll have-- or get-- the answers you're looking for.
I'm glad it wasn't the Chicken Pox-- I hated them!
redchief replied: I agree on the OBGyn advice. I also think you should inform the ped doc about what happened. If we have a child we think is contagious, we call ahead and the doc's office has a special isolation room where we go right away so as not to expose the other patients. We've had other docs that handle that situation similarly.
My2Beauties replied: OMG I didnt' even know you were pg!! Congrats. I already saw the other post about Conner being sick and I'm sorry for the poor little guy!
MommyToAshley replied: Glad it wasn't the Chicken Pox! Hope Conner is feeling better, poor little guy.
I'd have a serious talk with your Ped too or consider switching Peds.
