Intro and request for advice

JJJ wrote: HI everyone! I am a newbie to the site and I just love it! It is hard to find a parenting site where you really feel like you belong. I hope this is my place! biggrin.gif
It took 10 years for me to have my daughter, and I am convinced my she is the smartest most beautiful child in the universe, so I am a normal Mommy!
My 8 yr wedding ann is coming this week and I fall more in love with my DH everytime I turn around. I am so blessed!
I work p/t- only when my DH gets home, our DD has yet to be babysat, but will be this year! I love every second of my life. And I am working hard to change things about myself to be a little better every day, I have just quit smoking last week, oh man this is hard!!!! I have lost over 150 pds in the last 5 yrs and am still working to lose about 70 more. It is hard changing so much, and working out is not my fav thing to do, I come from a long line of lazy women...lol But I am doing the best I can!
We just found out we are moving from here-Vegas- to Ohio at the end of June. My Sil is very sick and untill she has the transplants she wont ever get better, she needs kidney/pancreas transplant. And any prayers are so greatly appreciated from us all!!!!!
So I am moving cross country in 4 months with a 2yr old. My DH and I have figured out that DD and I will fly out first and he will drive the truck up there with his little bro-we are flying his bro out here to help. We will already heave our apt and I will have all the utilities on, but I could use any advice on any subject for the move. This is huge and I want it to go smoothly.
Thanks in advance for your advice and prayers!

Boys r us replied: wavey.gif Hi! Nice to meet you!! Vegas huh? One of my favorite places!! Actually I got married there! My name is Nichole, married to Rick, mommy to Tanner(8) and Braedon(2).
Anyhow, sorry to here about your SIL, is she a diabetic? I have two uncles and a little brother who are diabetic and with in th last 2 years my two uncles have both received kidney transplants and one of them also got a new pancreas as well. (not trying to hijack your intro, but just wanted to let you know I know how it is to go thru all of that!)
Congrats on kicking the bad habits!! thumb.gif

JJJ replied: Thanks! Yes she is a diabetic. My DH whole family save maybe 4-6 that I can think of have the disease to some degree. So we are very carefull with our DD.
Any advice for the move?

mom21kid2dogs replied: wavey.gif Hi! Welcome to the board. I hope you like it and stick around awhile! Sounds like your family is in for lots of changes but if you survived a 10 year wait for your child the move might be a piece of cake!! (We were married 17 years when our daughter was born happy.gif ) I live in Ohio~way different than Las Vegas! What part are you moving to? We live in Southeastern Ohio but I grew up in North Central Ohio.
I wouldn't stress too much about the move right now. Although 2 isn't a great year for changes, she'll be with her family so I'm sure she'll do just fine. Likely you just won't want to have much of an agenda in the months following the move 'til everyone gets their bearings. She'll be the perfect age for loving the snow in the winter so that will be great!
Good luck in the upcoming months of packing, etc!

Josie83 replied: Hi and welcome to the site. What's your daughter caled? She will be around the same age as my little girl. We will be moving around Cleveland, and I have no idea what to expect, but my DH cant wait to go get a Roman burger-he swears by it.
I am trying to find games/activities to do on the plane with her. Maybe I could get a night flight......thats an idea!
I look forward to getting to know you all!

Ahh, soon I can say "I'm leaving Las Vegas!" I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!

mommy2owen replied: Oh I forgot to say...CONGRATS on the move!!!

loveydad replied: Welcome! I'm Viggo, married to Tavia and we have 6 kids , one on the way, and my son has two that live with us.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Sorry JJJ, I thought your concern was her adjustment after the move, LOL! cool.gif
For the plane, I'd take her car seat as kids are generally more comfortable in a familiar seat~not to mention more secure. Pick a few little things that will be "new" to her for the flight to entertain her. Those boards by Crayola with the wipe off makers are small, fun and portable. New books (esp those with "doing things" like popups or moving parts were very entertaining to my daughter) are always good. Also pack plenty of snacks and drinks due to the length of the flight. If your daughter is trained, use a pull up anyway for the trip to avoid a potty accident. That's all I can think of on one cup of coffee!!

Lived in Ohio all my life but have never heard of a Roman burger. Must be a Cleveland thing wink.gif

My2Beauties replied: wavey.gif Hi and welcome! I'm LeaAnn (24) mommy to Hanna Marie (15 months) and engaged to brian (26), we are going to be married on May 21, 2005. JJJ replied: Wow! I never expected so many replies! Your all great!
I only get on usually in the morning while Jaylee is watching her shows, so I never have a whole lot of time, but I think I will try to get on a little more just to come here!

Oh and the place that has the Roman burger is Mr. Hero's. Jason talks about it every day!!!lol

You should all come up for the housewarming party--lol I am a really great cook-- biggrin.gif
