Is the board acting funny to others?
MomToMany wrote: It's not loading the pages right for me. Don't know what's going on.
Tamatha replied: I'm beginning to suspect that somehow a virus as inserted itself into this board. Every time I open a new thread, I get Antivirus messages about "Trojan Horse." I believe that my computer has now been infected. Please be careful.
Kaitlin'smom replied: every so often I have to re-fresh a page, I dunno if its my puter or board issue...I will keep my eye on it today and see if I notice anything
MomToMany replied:
Yep, I got that too. So it must be in my computer now ?
What do I do now?
coasterqueen replied: It's happening to me too at home and at work. Not sure what the deal is.
Psst...Mollie..btw, DH was in Minneapolis (sp?). He got back this morning, lol. You had asked where he was at, hee hee.
MomToMany replied: I hope this is fixable.
Thanks for telling me Karen. Minneapolis is a 6 hour drive from where I'm at, LOL.
My2Beauties replied: I am too it isn't giving me any trojan horse pop-ups but it's taknig a while to load and flashing on and off before it loads. I'm not computer savvy so I don't know what it could be. Also I can't get the rest of the emoticons to come up
MomToMany replied: Just wanted to add that it's only happening on this board. I'm not having any problems with other websites.
amynicole21 replied: Yep, the pages only load about 30% of the time
MommyToAshley replied: Oh No! I will have TLCDad look at it as soon as he gets here. Do you know if it is a specific banner causing the problem or is it just random? I haven't had it happen to me yet, but I just logged on.
MomToMany replied: It seems random to me. Some pages load fine (like clicking on a topic), others not at all (like clicking of Today's Topics).
Hope that makes sense.
coasterqueen replied: It's also been happening to me over this past week, not just today. I thought maybe it was just me, but it has been happening at work and at home. No particular events make it happen that I know of.
MommyToAshley replied: This is really weird, I have been clicking on everything trying to duplicate the issuess you described and it is working fine for me. Are all of you still having problems?
coasterqueen replied: Yep, and it seems to be getting worse for me this morning.
kit_kats_mom replied: It's been an intermittant problem for me too. Occasionally, when I get on the board and open a bunch of the topics in seperate windows, some will open and some will just load a page that containes a scrambled up top banner for parentingclub. It's happened in the past too but it is happening much more frequently lately.
I run symantec every night on my computer and it's not detected any viruses though. But I use googles pop up blocker so I don't get any pop ups either.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I've had it too this past week, but it is worse today.
booey2 replied: I got it too and couldn't figure out where it was coming from and it just happend again. I ran my norton antivirus and it caught it and deleted it. Looks like I need to run it again. gotta go.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I'm having the same problem! I have had to refresh the pages a few times before the board came back!
TLCDad replied: It is not just this website but the entire server. It has been compromised. It looks like I am for a long day and night. I have informed my techs and we are working on it. It looks like we have a hacker/spammer on the server.
The exploit is not really I virus I believe, it just takes advantage of known exploit in IE which is the reason your virus scanners are reporting it. I'll try to keep you all posted.
Hopefully the sysadmins will find the person on the server doing this and seal the exploit permanently.
I am not a happy camper to say the least! Not only is this annoying but potentially costs us financially too.
stormyanne replied: well i haven't had problems, but i just joined yesterday. also i do not use IE, i use mozilla. a while back there was a really nasty virus that was attacking IE users, my mom got it and we had to reformat her computer. i wanted to avoid the possibility of getting it so i downloaded this other browser and now i just keep using it cause i like it. LOL. anyway so far i haven't seen what you guys are talking about.
coasterqueen replied: Okay I just got that Trojan Horse Virus pop-up too and my virus software said it was unable to repair it. What does this mean?
I just had my computer taken in and cleaned off for viruses. My boss is gonna have my patootie if it has more.
TLCDad replied: It is not really a virus but uses a method or exploit in IE that could install a virus. This is why you get the warnings. As long as your IE is up2date this should not be a problem other than annoying (we are working to correct it). This just started today. We are working on a fix.
My2Beauties replied: I am getting that trojan horse message now.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: TLCDad, I'm sorry you have a long day ahead of you! I wanted to Thank You for taking good care of this community, your hard work is greatly appreciated!
coasterqueen replied: Thanks TLCDad. That's great to know that it isn't really a virus. Thank you so much for working on this. I feel so bad that you have to do this on a Friday. I appreciate everything you and M2A do!!!
AshleyRose replied: THis is the only site I visit (since I have no patience with dial-up) and ever since I got back home to the USA and installed AOL from the AOL software I have got this virus that WILL NOT let me open Mcafee Virus Scan. It just wont let me open it no matter how I try to. Right when I start my computer it says that I have a virus and Mcafee starts up but once I got over to the tool bar to click on the red M, it DISAPEARS!! Since being home I have only visited this site, google, and amazon. Does anyone else have this virus issue?
I haven't even downloaded anything before the virus was detected. It must have hijacked itself onto my comptuer!!
ctymom replied: The 'virus' that attached itself is nothing to worry about.
Trojan.ByteVerify is a Trojan Horse that exploits the vulnerability described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-011 and could provide a hacker the ability to run arbitrary code on an infected system. (click the link if you dont have a virus scanner and need info on this)
Alot of people HATE microsoft and do everything they can to exploit them and send virus' to those who have IE just to show Microsoft that they arent as great as they think they are.
If you have a virus protector and it's up to date, then you are all set. Dont worry about it saying 'could not fix'. I'm not real sure why it says that, but I know that it's not on your system and its nothing to worry about.
I switched to http://www.mozilla.org/ for a browser now.
Pamela
TLCDad replied: The problem should be corrected now. Let me know if you still see warnings.
