Is there a song with your name in it?
Josie83 wrote: I was just wondering, because Jason has been singing this to me all weekend . . . he says its stuck in his head just like I'm stuck in his head Its called Josie by Blink 182 and he says that the beginning bit describes how he used to feel about me when we were aout sixteen! But shhhh he would kill me if he knew I was spreading that around! Here is the song . . .
Josie
Yeah My girlfriend Takes me home when I'm too drunk to drive And she doesn't get all jealous when I hang out with the guys She laughs at my dumb jokes when no one does She brings me mexican food from Sombrero just because Yeah, just because
And my girlfriend Likes UL and DHC And she's so smart and independent, I don't think she needs me Quite half as much as I know I need her I wonder why there's not another guy that she'd prefer
And when I feel like giving up Like my world is falling down I show up at 3am She's still up watching Vacation And I see her pretty face It takes me away to a better place and
(I know that everything) Everything's gonna be fine (I know that everything) Everything's gonna be fine
Yeah, my girlfriend Takes collect calls from the road And it doesn't seem to matter that I'm lacking in the bulge She laughs at my dumb jokes when no one does She brings me Mexican food from Sombrero just because
And when I feel like giving up Like my world is falling down I show up at 3am She's still up watching Vacation And I see her pretty face It takes me away to a better place and
(I know that everything) Everything's gonna be fine (I know that everything) Everything's gonna be fine
MomToMany replied: Um, yeah. Good Golly Miss Molly. Ugh, I HATE that song!
Kaitlin'smom replied: I know of 2 one oldie dunno who its by but its called Diana, and of course theres the one by Michael Jackson 'Dirty Diana'
mckayleesmom replied: Nope...
A&A'smommy replied: awwww lol thats sweet!
nope there isn't one with my name in it
jolene555 replied: Sadly, yes. There's "Jolene" done origonally my Miss Dolly Parton (which has now been covered by nearly every country artist) . . .
Jolene, jolene, jolene, jolene I’m begging of you please don’t take my man Jolene, jolene, jolene, jolene Please don’t take him just because you can Your beauty is beyond compare With flaming locks of auburn hair With ivory skin and eyes of emerald green Your smile is like a breath of spring Your voice is soft like summer rain And I cannot compete with you, jolene
He talks about you in his sleep There’s nothing I can do to keep From crying when he calls your name, jolene
And I can easily understand How you could easily take my man But you don’t know what he means to me, jolene
Jolene, jolene, jolene, jolene I’m begging of you please don’t take my man Jolene, jolene, jolene, jolene Please don’t take him just because you can
You could have your choice of men But I could never love again He’s the only one for me, jolene
I had to have this talk with you My happiness depends on you And whatever you decide to do, jolene
Jolene, jolene, jolene, jolene I’m begging of you please don’t take my man Jolene, jolene, jolene, jolene Please don’t take him even though you can Jolene, jolene
I think it only mentions my name like 27 times in the song. People sing it to me all the time!!! "Hey - have you heard that song???" Yes, I have.
There's also a song named "Jolene" by Cake:
well Jolene unlocked the thick breezeway door like she'd done one hundred times before Jolene smoothed her dark hair in the mirror she folded the towel carefully and put it back in place yeah I want to pull you down into bed I want to cast your face in lead well every time I pull you close push my face into your hair cream rinse and tobacco smoke that sickly scent is always, always there yeah yeah
Jolene heard her father's uneven snores right then she knew there must be something more Jolene heard the singing in the forest she opened the door quietly and stepped into the night yeah I want to throw you out into space I want to do whatever it takes, takes, takes
well every time I pull you close push my face into your hair cream rinse and tobacco smoke that sickly scent is always, always there
I like it much better.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: But of course!
Miami My Amy, Amy Whatcha gonna do, (to name a couple) I've had several people sing these to me...nobody exciting though.
party-of-six replied: yep....Wendy.....oldie but a goodie....cannot remember who sang it, but I want to say America......not sure though.
Everyone know's it's Wendy!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: No but my DH was very sweet and bought me one of those childrens tapes. It's called Songs for you Kirsten. I can never find anything with my name on it. We can find lots of Kristen stuff, but not Kirsten.
Now Emily has a song with her name in it. And it's called Emily, by Bowling for soup. Not that it's the best song in the world, but she likes it.
Alice replied: I spent my high school and college years waitressing. You cannot imagine how many customers thought they were being original when they sang: "You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant."
paradisemommy replied: This is the very song I am named after and my day sang it to me the whole time I was growing up..
Debbie Reynolds Tammy
I hear the cottonwoods whisperin' above, "Tammy ... Tammy ... Tammy's in love" The ole hooty-owl hooty-hoos to the dove, "Tammy ... Tammy ... Tammy's in love" Does my lover feel What I feel When he comes near? My heart beats so joyfully,You'd think that he could hear Wish I knew if he knew What I'm dreamin' of Tammy ... Tammy ... Tammy's in love Whippoorwill, whippoorwill, you and I know Tammy ... Tammy ... can't let him go The breeze from the bayou keeps murmuring low: "Tammy ... Tammy ... you love him so" When the night is warm,Soft and warm,I long for his charms I'd sing like a violin If I were in his arms Wish I knew if he knew What I'm dreaming of Tammy ... Tammy ... Tammy's in love
SweetDream replied: eh my name is becky. and this is the only song I know of with my name in it.
Sir Mix-A-Lot Baby Got Back
Oh my god, Becky, look at her butt It is so big She looks like one of those rap guys girlfriends Who understands those rap guys They only talk to her because she looks like a total prostitute, ok? I mean her butt It's just so big I can't believe it's so round It's just out there I mean, it's gross
And long ago I picked out my nick SweetDream from my ex-boyfriend always saying sweet dreams in place of good bye. This was like... 6 maybe 7yrs ago. So with my nick there are at least 3 songs I know of by the Eurythmics, Marilyn Manson, and air supply. Air supply's goes like " Close your eyes I want to ride the skies In my sweet dreams Close your eyes I want to see you tonight In my sweet dreams "
Maddie&EthansMom replied: That group is from my hometown....(Bowling for Soup) The lead singer, Eric and I used to hang out at a local coffee house. Not that he would ever remember, but that was about the time he formed the band.
How funny. Not sure many people had heard of them.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Love that song!
loveydad replied: No, I just dont' think Viggo goes with anything well.
My daughter made up a song with my name in it..but well it's not really flattering.
alice&arik replied: Yeah in high school everyone would sing "Go ask Alice"
I don't know how it all goes but....
Go ask Alice when she's ten feet tall Go ask Alice when she's just so small.
That's all I think I know. It is a stoner's song. I don't know why they would sing that to me.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Of course...
Hey Carrie-Ann what's your game girl can anybody play....
I was named after that song.
maestra replied: Michelle by the Beatles. Oh, how I hate that song! At least once a week a stranger sings that to me when they find out my name.
Michelle, ma belle. These are words that go together well, My michelle.
Michelle, ma belle. Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble, Tres bien ensemble.
I love you, I love you, I love you. That's all I want to say. Until I find a way I will say the only words I know that You'll understand.
I need you, I need you, I need you. I need to make you see, Oh, what you mean to me. Until I do I'm hoping you will Know what I mean.
I love you.
I want you, I want you, I want you. I think you know by now I'll get to you somehow. Until I do I'm telling you so You'll understand.
I will say the only words I know that You'll understand, my michelle.
mvmc replied: Oh yes! I have only heard the singer sing it once or twice but have it sorta sung to me every once in a while.....my boss started singing it the other day. I think the name of the song is Sarah....its an oldie...I believe it came out a few years before me but maybe in the early 80's (I'm 24).....I know the 80's are not really oldies......
mt2b
ediep replied: not my name...
but Aimee, I love that song by bowling ofr soup that is out now....something about ...stuck in 1985. That nest that you know them
akbutterfly83 replied: Nope.... Don't think i've ever heard a song with my name.....
DansMom replied: I can't think of any, but there is an old sixties/seventies song by Donovan with "Josie" in it. I only know the chorus:
Josie, I won't fail 'ya, I won't fail you, have no fear Josie, I won't fail 'ya, gimme one more chance, the day is near..
And because Donovan is Irish, it sounds like "Josie, I won't feel ya".
Josie83 replied: Ha that's hilairous! Maybe I should tell that to Jason. I can't imagine him singing "Josie I won't feel you" any time soon though . . . ha! All these are so cool! I love it when Jason sings that song to me. Nobody else has really heard it though! xx
Maddie&EthansMom replied: It is amazing how big they have gotten. They are really talented. They used to play at this small coffee house I went to in JR HIGH!! And the lead singer grew up with one of my best friends (they worked at this coffee house together..she is much older than me). I really don't "know them", but know of them and supported them on their way up. That was SO long ago. Seems like yesterday.
mammag replied: Let's see there's.........
Jeanie With The Light Brown Hair Jeanie's Afraid Of The Dark - Dolly Parton Little Jeannie - Elton John Annachie Gordon - Lorenna McKennitt (Annachie is the man she's in love with)
The only one of those I like is the last one but she dies in the song so not very uplifting.
aspenblue1 replied: Yes. Carrie by Europe
Kirstenmumof3 replied: DH loves Bowling for Soup! That's awesome that you knew them before they were famous.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Yes but I don't know it... Jennifer's Dh and Scott and another friend of ours use to start singing it every time they saw me to embarrass the crap out of me. I heard it once in the grocery store too.... I don't know who sings it though.
Sunflower04 replied: I was named after Mandy by Barry Manilow....
texasp3 replied: Not that I know of, but of course there are a hundred an one songs with the name Maria... when I was growing up it was always...
How do you solve a problem like Maria? How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?
Etc, ad nauseum. Ugh. Everyone thought it was so clever.
Of course, my biggest music/name related nightmare was being in Junior High during the peak of the Donny and Marie craze. OMG... and there was even a guy named Donny in my school. People WOULD NOT leave us alone. Oh, like it's funny to have people trailing you down the hall wailing "I'm a little bit cooooouuuntry..." every day.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Just heard another one on my way home from the grocery store. It is "Livin the Good Life." I don't know who it is by. I will have to track down the lyrics.
Okay, I have no idea what the name of the song is or who sings it! It is a country song and it says something about "picking Amy up and eating moon pies."
