Is there a word for what I am? - (religion mentioned...)
DansMom wrote: I had a PM convo with another member, and now realize that I'm not a pagan---I was totally using that word in a generic and imprecise way, not realizing that it's kind of a religion in its own right and doesn't describe me at all.
I'm spiritually inclined, appreciate the connectedness of all living things, live by a moral code that's informed by the principles of many different religions, and don't want to worship anything/anyone or attend any rituals. Is there a name for that? (Oh, only nice names, please )
amynicole21 replied: I'd call you Spiritual, but not religious. I think that's pretty much what I am as well.
boyohboyohboy replied: I just call you plain nice, when I tell my DH all the help you give me..
DansMom replied: Now I'm blushing! Thank you, Stacy
Jamison'smama replied: How about Agnostic?
–noun 1. a person who holds that the existence of the ultimate cause, as God, and the essential nature of things are unknown and unknowable, or that human knowledge is limited to experience.
1 : a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and probably unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god
CantWait replied: The same thing I call myself, Spiritual, but not neccasirily religious.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I was going to say agnostic, too. That's what my dad is.
MommyToAshley replied: I completely agree and couldn't have said it any better.
I don't care too much for labels anyways.
ediep replied: I call you one cool lady and a great mom!!
but I have no idea about your "religion" name
luvmykids replied: Ditto, as I read your description of yourself I thought it could have been my stepmom!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Apathetic? lol
Cece00 replied: I would say this, too.
redchief replied: The term agnostic appears to describe your spiritual beliefs well, Tracy.
Nina J replied: I would have thought Agnostic aswell.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Tracy, not that I'm telling you what direction to take at all...but if you're interested, this is the movement that DH is involved with MSIA. I'm actually reading one of their intro books right now and I like that it incorporates most all religions. Sounds like it may be simililar to what you are describing yourself as.
You know, I saw a bumper sticker today that spelled the word COEXIST using all religious symbols, such as a star of David for the X and a cross for the T (those were the only two that I could recognize). I thought it was really cool! I'm pretty much on the same page as you, except that I do believe in a Higher power, in God.
cameragirl21 replied: you're spiritual, and interesting too.
