It had to happen sooner or later - The mean teacher

There are 4 teachers per grade. She had one she really wanted, but said she'd be okay with anyone except one......and THAT's the one she got. Adding insult to injury is the fact that she's not in class with ANY of her friends...Not. Even. One.
She's trying very hard not to cry. She's got a big smile plastered on her face, assuring me everything is okay. But her chin wants to quiver when she says it, and she's gotten awfully quiet since we found out. She's scared to death, I can see it in her face.
My poor baby.
NummyMommy replied: Awwwwwwww poor thing....I remember feeling that way Hopefully the teacher will like her and be nicer to her. My son had the "mean" teacher last year (I mean parents were falling all over themselves to badmouth her she is so unpopular ) but he was so well behaved that she never yelled at him. He brought home stories of her cussin out other kids (which I told the principal and he didnt care) and we would talk about why she acted that way and how to deal with it if it happened to him. It ended up being a learning experience for him but I really felt sorry for the other kids...and I wont allow my girls to go to that school when its time....NO WAY.
ediep replied: oh man! I completely remember that feeling!!! I hope she makes some new friends and her toeacher turns out to be ok
mommy_loves_chase replied: aww poor thing i hope things start to look up for her

MommyToAshley replied: Oh no, not the mean teacher! Poor girl! The teacher may turn out to be not so bad and I bet she'll make lots of new friends.
kit_kats_mom replied: Well, hopefully she's not too bad. Honestly, I think it's a good learning experience to get the "mean" teacher...which basically just means the strict one. There are going to be difficult people in our children's lives and although it can be hard for us to watch them struggle, I think it also teaches valuable skills. When I was in college I got the teacher that everyone talked about as being hard, strict, mean etc. Yes, he surely had a different teaching style and he would not tolerate talking, tardiness etc (he took these as signs of disrespect...which they were really) but I learned more from him and respected him more than any other teacher I had during my entire learning career. I ran into him later at a store and he was very nice and I thanked him for being the only person on earth who could have taught me economics. LOL Good luck to your daughter and hopefully she will not stress out too much.

Giasmommy replied: I ran into one of the school aides at a store today. This lady loves DD, always refers to her as "cutie patootie". She asked who DD's teacher is this year. When I told her, her eyes got wide, she shook her head and said.......Oh my. No Comment.
This is going to be the year from HE//.
luvbug00 replied: I'm sorry but that would be my cue ( as the nervous wreck mom that I am ) to have her switched out of that class. I hope all goes ok!!
Giasmommy replied: Unfortunately, that is not an option. Her school refuses to do it.
luvbug00 replied: That's Odd. Well what doesn't kill you will make you stronger right? Your daughter sounds very sweet and I hope all goes well for her. Keep us posted.
