It's Lukemia

Tomorrow Spencer has to undergo a procedure called image guided surgery. This is were they take the MRI results and while undergoing a CT scan they insert a needle into his knee(s) and extract the bone marrow. They don't know what kind of lukemia we are dealing with. I don't know but right now I feel relief!

Oh and my inlaws arrive in Toronto tomorrow. It will be so nice to have them here.

You may note in my signature the quote "Every kid deserves to be a hero... these kids already are." That quote is dedicated to every kid I've ever come to know and love through my job and through my experiences in my journey to becoming a child life specialist.
I know that you are going through a lot right now and I'm sure you will need time to get settled in to what will be the new routine of life for a while, but if you ever feel the need, or want to know, I have the email addresses and sites of many parents and support groups you may find comfort in.
Caringbridge.com is a wonderful organization too, that allows you to have a free website to keep your family and friends updated on your child's condition. It has a guestbook so that people can sign in and send messages of encouragment to Spencer and has room for pictures and the like. In time, if you feel up to it, I'd proudly support him as one of my "buddies" by emailing, sending cards, writing to him, anything to make him feel better. Just let me know.
For now though... all I can offer are my sincerest prayers. Please know that there are SO many people out here supporting you.

Kirstenmumof3 replied:  Many, Many Thanks to all of you! Spencer will undergo another procedure (one that was supposed to happen on Monday), where they will extract the bone marrow from his knees. If they get a good sample, this will give them a better clue as to what kind of Leukimea they are dealing with. He is a very strong little boy.
Yesterday the Child Life worker came in to see him and brought in a Nintendo Game Cube system that also has a DVD player with it. She loaded it up with games and videos for him. She also let him use a game system Nintendo DS, it's a small hand held gadget. He just loves it. She is going to find him some more games and movies and this system stays in his room until he is discharged.
We ventured out yesterday and made it to the Eatons Centre. We found this really great toy store and Spencer would have bought out the store if he could have. It was nice to have him outside walking. There is a Lounge here at the hospital for older kids and they do crafts, have a pool table, fooze(sp?) ball, game systems and movies. He made 2 crafts yesterday with beads, a black cat for Emily and a flower for Claudia. It's really neat you use a mold and place the beads on the mold, then they iron it and the beads all melt together.
I'm doing okay, holding up pretty good. I've been comended by the doctors and social worker at how well I am handling all of this. It's going to be okay. I know deep down in my heart that he will be okay!
