Juice?
MM'sMama wrote: I was thinking this afternoon I really do spend WAY too much on juice so I am wondering what you ladies do...
What brands do you get and what kinds do your kids like?
Do you buy it already made up or do you get concentrate and mix it up?
Do you buy individual juices ever?
I tend to buy Dole and Tropicana, Brice (and myself, DH and Luci) like apple, orange, grape (not me ), cranberry, and raspberry.
Sometimes I buy already made up in a big carton but I have to admit for the most part I usually buy individual cartons and bottles (so much easier). And we go threw a TON of juice in this house and its really adding up.
What do you all get?
CAMSMOM1 replied: I buy Cam those Minuete Maid, drinks. They are individual, they look just like Caprisuns. (in the foil packs, with the straw you poke through) He loves them, and they are 100% juice. He likes being able to hold it, makes him feel like a big boy not to drink out of a sippy cup. There are only 2.39 for a pack of 10.
MM'sMama replied: What the heck have I been doing I need to look into those. I'm paying at lest 3.12 an 8 pack for juice's and we go threw 1-1 1/2 packs a day.
Momof3inMe replied: I get the boys caprisuns for school, but Emily doesn't really drink a lot of juice. If I want juice for the house I get apple juice all ready made. In the summer when we are here more and all the kids are home I get the frozen juice. My boys also like the flavored water.
MamaJAM replied: We buy the store brand most of the time. They have a no-sugar added apple that DS#2 loves and they add calcium to their orange. DH often likes when I get the 'mixed flavor' juices (like strawberry banana and mixed berry) -- but he knows we only get those when they are on sale (then I stock up with 4 or 5 that I keep in the bottom of the fridge).
We used to buy the concentrated unfrozen ones - but the kids didn't really like the flavors.
eta - We only ever buy juice boxes if we are providing the snack for soccer or some other event. I refuse to pay that much for a small amount of convienience.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: we buy juice packs too but very rarely drink them. It is more of an at the park thing then just arround the house. Here we basically only drink cranberry juice or orange juice and those we buy at Costco in the big jug. I thing it is $3-4 for 2 gallons or gallon and a half bottle.
mckayleesmom replied: I usually buy gatorade for the kids....the powder kind...I just pour the powder into their sippy cups.
I also buy alot of capri suns. Here on post they have bulk stuff in the back of the store....Usually they have a pack of 4 boxes for 5 bucks.
I will also buy minute maid if Im at Walmart...I love the tropical punch kind.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: well before I was on WIC I bought whatever the cheapest 100% juice frozen concentrate there was at the time. Now I admit I sometimes buy the more expensive stuff, because I can and it tastes better. I never used to get the already made stuff either but now sometimes I get the bottles because it's so much easier.
luvmykids replied: I usually get the concentrate and add more water than they say too, just b/c I try to cut down on the sugar a little bit and it's so sweet they don't seem to notice. But I also buy the individual juices for the car, etc. Mine prefer milk though, so juice lasts us awhile.
Cece00 replied: I usually buy concentrate or the big cans of juice juice (b/c its all juice). We dont drink much juice here, though, so I dont buy a lot.
MM'sMama replied: We have a Costco here? Where have I been.
Brias3 replied: Mine are big juice lovers but I try to cut down on the sugar so I typically dilute it (I even like my own diluted). We'll drink Tropicana for o.j. and Minute Maid for many other flavors. For the kids, I usually get Juicy Juice...in both the bottles for the fridge and the boxes for on the go, school lunches, etc.
