Boys r us replied: Well..if you could imagine living in a house like this..you could get in it for 99k!! Though..I've never heard of the street it's on..so it owuld most likely be wise to add bars to your windows!

and then we have this one that I would not consider average..I mean...it's pretty tiny looking! it will run you $367,900

and then this one, I would say is pretty middle of the road..no brick, but average size 3k sq ft and it will cost you $569,500

or you could go a little high up and have this one that isn't even new, it was built 20 yrs ago and they would like 2 million for it:

PrairieMom replied: makes me glad to live in South Dakota! even with the winters.
mckayleesmom replied: Well....first I want to point out that honestly..I have not seen a bad neighborhood here in Newbern yet...so even though the houses might not be the greatest...the community so far is awesome. Low crime rate and good schools. Added bonus is that Nicholas Sparks the author owns a house here somewhere.
This is the cheapest I found so far that isn't a mobile home....but even those don't look bad....more like modular homes This one isn't too horrible looking http://www.trulia.com/property/1061557663-...w-Bern-NC-28562
This one is 115....and still not too bad

This one is 221
http://www.trulia.com/property/3673469-171...w-Bern-NC-28562
this one is 725....the house at first glance is pretty normal....but you have to read the amenities to get the whole picture.

$100,000
$300,000
$500,000 could get you a home in the historical district
or this
most expensive
PrairieMom replied: that 500 000 one makes me want to move Its gorgeous!! LOVE IT!!!!! could never ever ever ever afford it.
Our Lil' Family replied: I remember looking at that house when we were house hunting in TX!
My3LilMonkeys replied: Cheapest - $39,900 - this is in one of the most hillbilly-ish middle of nowhere neighborhoods in my area - not a "bad" neighborhood exactly, but not somewhere everyone would want to live.
$100,000
$300,000
$500,000
Most expensive - this is right on a beautiful lake, one of the nicest areas around here.
lovemy2 replied: $12,000 - you WOULD have to put bars on your windows here - we could buy this for $6,000 through the Officer Next Door Program because my DH is a cop - BUT - we would have to live there
http://nothnagle.com/properties/details.as...=1&mlnum=727271
@$110,000 - this is a nice neighborhood - pretty good starter home area
http://nothnagle.com/properties/details.as...=1&mlnum=801380
$175,000 - this is basically like my neighboorhood - kinda your second home - the one after your starter home - very nice neighboorhoods - close to expressways, shopping, etc. great schools, pretty middle class...
http://nothnagle.com/properties/details.as...=1&mlnum=804680
These are the ones I will buy as third, fourth or fifth homes when I win the lottery

moped replied: Ok.......here is the cheapest you could find in my quadrant of the city....
THe cheapest I see is $349,000
moped replied: then you can get something similar to what i live infor about 450000-500000
moped replied: Then there is a 659000 - which is nice but not that fancy
moped replied: Then there are quite a few in the million and 2 million range.....here is an example. Seriously you don't get much for that price either
My3LilMonkeys replied: Jen - do you know how close those are to US prices? I'm not up on the exchange rate these days - but it's pretty close to even if I'm remembering right, isn't it?
kit_kats_mom replied: Tara, I love how the one with the 20K per month estimated mortgage payment points out that it has hardwood floors. Now, if they cleaned themselves, then that would be something.
moped replied: Actaully the CAD and US are about par right now....dollar for dollar
kit_kats_mom replied: What state is that in? They all come with basements? Does the square footage include the basement or not? I wish we could have basements in FL
Boys r us replied: Cary, basements are ot counted in the sq footage of a house unless it is finished. We live in Va and it's unheard of for a house not to have a basement, even our patio homes have them here.
kit_kats_mom replied: Ok, our area. Around here you are mainly paying for the school district and convenience to the interstate

middle (looks nice and is only a few years old....but look at how much land it's on. the picture is cut basically right on teh houses on either side) http://www.realtor.com/search/listingdetai...srcnt=54#Detail
expensive but not most expensive...most expensive is closer to 10 million....but not listed online. It too is on the beach http://www.realtor.com/search/listingdetai...&srcnt=54#Photo
lovemy2 replied: Yep - they all have basements for the most part - there are a few in some areas that don't - like Nicole said the basement isn't counted as Sq footage so when you finish them its like a bonus!! It can be counted if its a walk out basement though....
Our Lil' Family replied: The LEAST expensive is $759K WOW...WHERE do you live?
Our Lil' Family replied: Least expensive $99K
Typical Starter home $140K
Nice home, not huge but new and in a good neighborhood, although far out $219K
Now we're getting a little higher, a little more custom, more land etc. $319K
This is $380K, the next one is $440..not sure why there's nothing in between
$445...I would LOVE to have this house. The road that it is on is THE MOST serene and peaceful around here!
The most expensive, $585K will buy you a replica plantation home
Our Lil' Family replied: Ok, it looks like they were moving this house and just decided to set it down on the road. WTH? Why on earth is it that close to the road?
Our Lil' Family replied: Check please!!!!!!!

grapfruit replied: Here's the cheapest that had a picture: Cheapest (there was a few a LOT cheaper, like $12K but no picture).
Middle of the Road This one is in the "pristine" area of town (the park). I would say this is a BIT low of the "average". My guess is EVERYTHING (including carpet) is original
Good Average Home (nice area)
$150K
Appears to be the MOST expensive (I should find a site w/more pictures for this one!!)
Oh and I'm in West Central Ohio (really close to the IN border)
DillsMommy replied: Wow--this beauty could be yours for only $26,500!

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: You can go cheaper in my city....just not the area where I live iykwim. there are areas that are technically in my zip code but are 15 minutes away. I live in 'old town' Seal Beach in an apartment...that we pay $700 a month MORE for than or mortgage on 2700 sq. ft. house in CO) My inlaws are looking at selling their townhouse in a couple years...bought for $300,000 in 1997 and they are currently going for $900,000+ it's crazy what has happened to real estate here.
My2Beauties replied: Looks like she lives in CA based on the county listed
bawoodsmall replied: I think(I am pretty sure) my bosses daughter is looking for a house in New Bern. Is that by the military base? Her hubby is being stationed there next month. They are leaving on the 14th to go house hunting. I like the 500 thousand range one on the outside but the inside seems kinda bland to me. I hate that fireplace.
luvmykids replied: Where I live it totally depends on what's more important, house or acreage. You can spend $500K and get an awesome house on a 1/2 acre, or a decent house on 20 acres. Everything is relative to how much land you get and just a mile in one direction or another, or being on one side of the freeway or the other, can make a HUGE price difference. Keep in mind though I live in a small town, these are listings just from our town but there are others within 10 minutes where the price ranges are a little different.
But here's what I found, not basing it on neighborhoods, schools, etc....plain and simple the cheapest in town: http://www.realtor.com/search/listingdetai...rcnt=149#Detail
The bottom 200's http://www.realtor.com/search/listingdetai...rcnt=149#Detail
Mid 300's, when houses get a little more upgraded http://www.realtor.com/search/listingdetai...rcnt=149#Detail
The only one around 500 http://www.realtor.com/search/listingdetai...rcnt=149#Detail
And the most expensive http://www.realtor.com/search/listingdetai...c&pg=15&lsn=149
But here is what I mean about the land...the above house is much bigger and nicer but only has 4.78 acres, you could get a MUCH smaller house with 81 acres for 775 http://www.realtor.com/search/listingdetai...c&pg=15&lsn=147
Cece00 replied: Cheapest @ 56k...BAD part of town
