TO ALL IT MAY CONCERN,
There is a very scary thing going on in the schools right now that all need to be aware of There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry poprocks. It smells like strawberry also and it is being handed out to kids in school yards in AR. I'm sure it will make its way around the country if it hasn't already. Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off to the E.R. in dire condition. Please instruct your children to not accept candy that looks like this even from a friend and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc. Please pass this around it could save some fa mily a lot of heartache!
I looked it up on snopes and its true http://www.snopes.com/horrors/drugs/candymeth.asp. It is what they are calling strawberry meth or strawberry quick.
Thought you'd want to know.
HuskerMom replied: I heard about that. Scary!
Twelve Volt Man replied: It is very true. As if meth wasn't bad enough, scumbags felt the need to make it more appealing. Thank God, it hasn't made it's way to my area, yet, but it'll be here soon.
HuskerMom replied: Give it time, it'll be there soon probably, unfortunately.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Definately true. There was a front page article in the paper about it last week. The only error in the article was some guy who was quoted as saying "It's time for parents to dust off that old taking candy from strangers lecture". I told Olivia not to take anything that looks like pop rocks from ANYONE~not strangers, not your friends, not other kids in the school~no one, period!
luvmykids replied: How disgusting that drugs disguised as candy are making their way into the hands of children!
jcc64 replied: Crystal meth freaks me out. I don't think it's had quite the impact here in NY that it has out west, but it seems like a very insideous and scary drug.
kit_kats_mom replied: They have in the past too. Who recalls the acid backed stickers back in my school days? I was afraid to lick a stamp or anything for the longest time.
I find it distrubing that they would target kids. Jerks
Mommyof3 replied: That is just not right....it's too scary to think about what kind of people are out there these days and targeting young children is something I just can't comprehend...I don't get how someone can do that!
boyohboyohboy replied: How do you approach kindergarden kids about these kind of subjects? I mean we all tell our kids not to talk to strangers, but half the time these things happen from people the kids see at school,( janitors) and are sorta familiar with them. how did you first bring this up? talking about smoking is easier because when they see someone doing it, it opens the conversation but how do you start in about drugs?
Calimama replied: That is horrible!!
CantWait replied: Even though it's not in Canada YET, I think it serves as a good warning. I forwarded this to all my friends and even Robbie's hotmail account.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Because it was just in the newspaper with a picture. I showed O the picture and asked her what it was. She said "It looks like some candy I got from Halloween, Mom". Then I told her it wasn't candy, it was a drug that could kill her and not to take pop rocks candy from ANYONE ~not strangers, not family, not your teacher~no one.
Cary~ the same thought came to my mind when I read about the crystal metg scare. I remember acid hits that were made to look like tatoos (the kind kids put on). You definately had to look before you licked!!
MyBabeMaddie replied: Wow, thats just sick, how did some people get so messed up? Seriously, you have to be one sick **** to think that up
