Kids and eating - do they eat ur food
flirtycuddle wrote: I have my 3 yr old and my 18 month old and sure enough every time I eat they have to have what I'm having and will throw a total fit if they don't at least get to taste. That is my fault cuz I have always let them as I don't see a problem with. Just wondering if eveyrones kids do this. They will eat what I have on their plates but want to taste mine first lol.
mckayleesmom replied: Mckaylee doesn't, but Russell does.....even when I just served him the same thing. I think he thinks I ripped him off or something.
holley79 replied: I call it my weight loss plan.
lisar replied: If we are all at the dinner table then no they dont do this. But if I am eating something random they will. Its always "Can I have a bite" Or "Can I have some". Knowing they arent hungry they just want it cause I have it.
Teesa®© replied:
We usually eat the same thing, but if I'm trying something new, I always share... assuming they want some. I've also noticed that if I give them something for the first time, they won't want to try it, but if I'm munching it on my own, they're more like to try it.
Since I've tried so hard to instill sharing in my children, I guess it's only right that I share too
luvbug00 replied: my motto is
" i serve it, you eat it"
they are not royalty, you eat what the common folk eat, like it or not.
luvmykids replied: Same here, and I'm stingy with my sweets
Sam & Abby's Mom replied: Thats funny - our kids are about the same ages. Sammy is 3 and Abby is 20 months. Abby always wants food from MY plate - even though its always the exact same food that is on her plate. Always - never fails. Sammy will only ask for some of mine if sibling rivalry kicks in after Abby has had a bite of my food or if my food looks a little different than his -- like I have full sized croutons in my salad and his croutons are cut in half, his pizza is cut alot smaller than mine,,,etc. Other than that -- he could care less about my food. I never eat anything in front of them that they cant have, though. I save all the good stuff for their naptime or after they've gone to bed for the night. LOL
Calimama replied: Yeah, and she's super obnoxious about it. She says "bites?" once.. and then if that doesn't work she'll climb into my lap and open her mouth as wide as she can and say, "ahh ahhh ahh" over and over until you give her some.
Nina J replied: No because usually we are eating the same foods anyway. Unless it is like naan bread and dip, we do sharing off the same plate. So technically, we are eating each others food.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Same here! If I have a candy bar or something I don't want to share I make sure they're occupied in another room before I open it.
bawoodsmall replied: Emily is worried about germs right now so she wont. Aiden def does but it's usually because he is done with his. He will say I want bite and keep his mouth open till yu give him a bite. So darn cute.
holley79 replied: It's funny because we will all be sitting there eating the same thing and Annika will still want whats on my plate. It's like she doesn't believe me or something.
flirtycuddle replied: My son does the same thing with his mouth and climbing on my lap lol
Hillbilly Housewife replied: It's is a rule here that you cannot eat something in front of others if you do not have enough to share. It is incredibly rude, IMO. You woulnd't eat cake in front of your guests without offering them some... I treat my children the same way as I'd treat my guests, when it comes to general politeness and respect.
A&A'smommy replied: yes it doesn't matter what I'm eating, or when and most of the time we eat different types of lunches I usually eat leftovers and she eats something else so sometimes she will ask to eat some of mine or if we have a snack and she had something different then mine she will eat all hers and then come and eat mine
:.Mrs_Mommy.: replied: Because of my work schedule, my sleeping schedule is off and I will eat breakfast at like 9 pm and eat supper at 8 am or something. Then I will eat different things or at different times than my kids do and they will get 1 bite but if they are truly hungry I will make them something or they can have a snack. Aaron and Lily don't normally do this because they think its gross to share forks and spoons, Kyla does but she will grow out of it soon I think.
flirtycuddle replied: I always end up letting them have what I'm having espically if it's just a snack at an odd time. Most of the time I get them something like fresh fruit or something to snack on while I do but that doens't always work lol. I guess I'm lucky though cuz both say please and thank you when they want something hehe
