Kissing on the lips?
MommyToAshley wrote: Do you kiss your kids on the lips? I never really thought much about it, but I overheard a parent telling their child it was not appropriate for the parent to kiss them on the lips.
Sometimes I kiss Ashley on the cheek, sometimes on the top of the head, and sometimes on the lips.
luvmykids replied:
Lips are not only acceptable, but preferred here
lisar replied: If I try and kiss Raygen on the cheek she will turn my head to the lips. Sometimes she will let me. But she is 3 and dont understand any of that, so I dont mind it.
lisar replied: Exactly!!!!
BAC'sMom replied: I do sometimes. Not sure why it not appropriate I still kiss my Mom on the lips and I am almost 40!
Kaitlin'smom replied: here also
jcc64 replied: The boys are 15 and 12, so obviously, kissing on the lips went out the window long ago. But Corey practically make outs with me!
Danalana replied: at Jeanne!
Crystalina replied: That's just craaaaaazy! ****insert Bush's Baked Beans dog's voice here****
Lips always. The mushier the kiss the better and I've had my kids redo kisses until they get it right. No dry bird lipped kisses here.
Oh, the dog's name is Duke.
Crystalina replied: Evan does too!
paradisemommy replied: Lips ALWAYS..
stella6979 replied: Same here! I still kiss both my Parents on the lips too.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: ditto
TheOaf66 replied: I don't have a problem with it but I don't plan it, where it happens is where it happens
maestra replied: I guess we're in the minority. We never kiss on the lips. We were both just raised that kissing on the lips is for romantic situations only. We do kisses on the cheeks or head only.
mom21kid2dogs replied: I kiss O on the lips all the time although I never kiss my parents on the lips~ewwww!!! Stephen, on the other hand, doesn't feel comfortable kissing her on the lips and hasn't since she was about 5. I think it's just a personal preference thing. To him, lip kissing is too intimate of a kiss to share between parent and child. Although I don't share that POV, I do respect it.
mckayleesmom replied: We do both.
It's funny because one time Russell was watching a movie with me and their was a romantic kiss and Russell grabbed my face with his hands and planted a huge smoocher on me...
Calimama replied: Both DH and I grew up kissing cheeks... everyones. But Miabella prefers lips. She kisses us 500 times a day and I don't mind a bit.
doublebubble replied: We kiss on the lips all the time! In fact the other day, Olivia asked Noah for a kiss and he pucckered up!
luvmykids replied: OMGoodness, who could resist that smacker?
mckayleesmom replied: Noah is so cute...
lisar replied: How could you not kiss those cute wittle lips when he puckers like that.
mommymommy replied: I always kiss Cate on her cheeks!! They are so chubby and cute!!
DillsMommy replied: One of my favorite things ever--are when my babies kiss me. The sloppier, the better. Lips, cheeks, where ever.
Our Lil' Family replied: Lips always, and sometimes I feel like Thomas lingers a little too long, maybe he just loves his Mommy!
Now as an adult though I rarely kiss my parents on the lips. My mom mostly tries that way but I don't, kinda weird. She did kiss Tim on the lips once...claims it was an accident! Yeah, whatever, trying to get some young lovin'
Teesa®© replied: We're all cheek kissers here. And foreheads. And necks. And nekkid bellies. And noses.
And don't forget the owies
HappyHappyJoyJoy replied: I smootch my Jake all over the face, lips, cheeks whatever I get when I pucker up and move in! Hey he wouldn't have those lips had it not been for the months of Mommy cooking up in my mommy oven, so the lips are MINE for the smootching IMO!
: )
My2Beauties replied: I guess I've never really put that much thought into it, I kiss Aubrey and Hanna on the lips a lot, but sometimes it ends up on the cheek. Desiree is a bit older so normally especially around her friends I would just hug and kiss her on the cheek, but sometimes it's sort of half lips half cheek, does that make sense? I always kiss my parents on the cheek now that I'm older.
Jamison'smama replied: Lips lips lips lips lips.....I love those precious baby lips.
DVFlyer replied: Lots of kisses all over.
I don't know how long that will last, but I'm sure one day it will not be "cool" to do anymore.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: We kiss on the lips here. Sometimes I kiss them on either the forehead or cheeks too but when Andrew and Allie kiss us it's always on the lips!
I kissed my parents on the lips as a kid, but I remember when it started feeling weird to do that and I switched to cheek kissing. I'm sure that will happen with our kids eventually too, but I don't know when.
ZandersMama replied: EVERYWHERE!
A&A'smommy replied: I never really thought about but we kiss on the lips ALL the time, also forhead cheeks... and I like to aggravate and kiss them LITERALLY all over their precious faces ooo and nose kisses
A&A'smommy replied:
gr33n3y3z replied: My kids are 15,19,21,24 I put my lips out there if they hit them fine if not oh well but my kids usually hit them unless one of us are sick and we always say love you
Brias3 replied: We really don't do that with our kids, but I don't see anything wrong with it.
Mason used to do the big, wet, on the lips kisses when he was younger but not anymore!
moped replied: If it doesn't include lips its a rip off kiss and it must be re done!!!!!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: All the time!
When I got to a certain age, I remember my parents not kissing me on the lips. Maybe it was MY choice because I was an embarassed teenager, but I could see my dad being a bit like this parent you described. Not because he isn't a loving father, but he's very conservative and I know his parents definitely did not show affection much. My dad kisses the boys, but he always seems a little awkward about it. And it's more of a side kiss...meaning half on the lips, mostly on the cheek. No harm done, it's just his way.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: It's not a kiss unless it's on the lips.
my2monkeyboys replied: I've kissed Will everywhere -literally. Even once, very briefly, on his winky when it had a boo-boo on it. (No, I'm not a perv... how could I not? He said, kiss it and make it better momma, when he was about 2. I couldn't say no, since he wouldn't understand.) But, other than that one time that area is not on the kissy menu. Me and Will kiss everywhere. DH usually only kisses him on the lips if Will is adamant about it, otherwise it's the cheek/head. I suspect as he gets older he'll feel weird about it and it'll turn into the cheek kiss. How I'll miss his little lips then....
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Never.
When they were younger, yes.
Unfortunatley, when emilie was about 2 or 2 1/2, when we were living in Joliette in the old age home, an elderly woman thought it was a ppropriate to kiss my daughter on the lips, and gave her HERPES.
Because of this, and because she sometimes gets flare ups, we try to tell our children not to kiss on the lips. When she has a "bobo", they are also not allowed to share cups, trade ice cream licks etc...
If, however, the situation was not what it is, then I wouldn't mind, but I have a thing for sharing utensils, cups etc.. so I probably wouldn't participate anyways.
