Kissing your kids

Nina J wrote: Do you kiss your kids on the lips? Obviously I don't mean in the same way you would kiss your significant other.

I never did but when Emily was old enough to learn to give kisses she would kiss me on the mouth, not on the cheek. Then I think because she did it, the other 2 (when they got to the age of kisses) would kiss on the lips to. They always kiss our relatives on the cheek, though.

I never really thought about it, but someone commented to me that they think it is weird and "Why do you let them kiss you on the lips?". I don't know, I never really thought about it and I have seen other parents give there kids a peck on the lips. I am not about to tell the girls not to kiss me, and I know that one day they will get to the age where they won't do it anymore. The whole thing was something each of them started doing on there own and I assume in there own time they'll stop doing it.

My3LilMonkeys replied: I absolutely kiss my kids on the lips, the cheek, the nose, the belly, etc, etc... They kiss relatives on the lips as well, and each other.

I am like you though - I know that one day they'll get old enough that they won't want to, and I'm okay with that. I'll just get all the kisses that I can while they're still young. wub.gif

luvmykids replied: I kiss lips, heads, hands, toes, tummies, necks, ears..... wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I kiss them on the lips. I still kiss my parents as well smile.gif

Calimama replied: Miabella yes, my parents no. IMO once you reach a certain age it isn't as appropriate.

Celestrina replied:
Same here!

sc_mom2five replied: I kiss my kids on the lips when they let me kiss them at all! They are such busy bees that sometimes they just have no time for kisses. I still kiss my parents on the lips too sometimes. smile.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied: I do, Stephen doesn't. I remember we had this thread quite a awhile ago and it ws interesting to read people's reaction to this. My extended family is a family of huggers/touchers but we aren't big on lip kissing. I don't remember ever kissing my parents on the lips.

CantWait replied: Whereever they want and whenever they want. Your kids will let you know in their own time when they don't want to kiss you on the lips (they'll just stop). wub.gif wub.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: yep sure do, I even kiss some family and a few friends that way. I espically love to kiss kaitlin in her cheeks they are just so kissable and I am going to get everone in I can, some day she might not let or want me to.

lisar replied: I kiss my kids all over to. The feet, the head, every where. Raygen kisses everyone on the lips, she thinks its not a kiss unless she kisses you on the lips. Lexi only kisses me on the lips everyone else gets the cheek.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Yep we kiss on the lips and everywhere else. happy.gif wub.gif I don't know how old I was when I stopped kissing my parents on the lips... I just remember all of a sudden feeling really weird about it so I stopped. tongue.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Same here. wub.gif love2.gif

my2monkeyboys replied:
Same here... little baby skin is meant to be kissed all over! wub.gif

A&A'smommy replied: we have totally had this conversation before tongue.gif but of course I kiss my little ones on the lips love2.gif

Crystalina replied: Do I kiss my kids on the lips? rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

Lets just say that I can tell my kids that their first "frenchie" was from Mommy. emlaugh.gif biggrin.gif

I can't help but kiss my kids. Gabriella...poor child...is my captive victim. She can't get away from me yet and I suck face with her all the time. Izabella and Evan are pretty much over it. Understood. sad.gif But I still get kisses on the lips before bed or when I beg for one. Izabella more so then Evan. He will kiss me and then wipe it off!!!! I asked him why he does that and the clever little bugger said that he isn't wiping it off, he's rubbing it in. ohmy.gif emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif Good save. wub.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: NO.

Some old bag did that at an old age home and gave my middle child HERPES, which has since been spread to my other two children. I wish I could cold sore HER. growl.gif growl.gif

I do not allow my children to kiss me on the lips, nor do I encourage them to do it to each other, and have to reinforce that EVERYtime I see my inlaws or my grandmother. growl.gif growl.gif

I don't have a problem with it. I just don't.

luvmykids replied:
LMBO, clever!!!!! emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif I wish Colt had come up with something that good, instead of just "EWWWWWWWWW MOMMMM!" rolling_smile.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: Lips I would never turn my head on one of my children ever sick or not

luvbug00 replied: sure, why not. in fact it's a smooch or a cheek here. nowhere else really. wub.gif

Danalana replied: Oh gosh...I LOVE kisses!!!!! I kiss Kade on the lips and everywhere else wub.gif If I say "Give me some sugar", he will hold still and let me kiss him laugh.gif My nephew is 9, and still kisses both of his parents on the lips. Not in public, but at home. I think it's so sweet. There was none of that in my house or family, and I plan on showering all my kids with kisses wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif I hope they will always want to kiss us (or at least me), whether it's in public or private (most likely laugh.gif )

stella6979 replied: Yep, I kiss her all over and I do still kiss my Parents on the lips too. blush.gif

Danalana replied: See, I think that's awesome! I wish my family was like that. Oh well, we're starting now!

My2Beauties replied: Absolutely wub.gif Des is a different story, she's older she kisses on the cheek and gives big hugs. I will take advantage of all the lip kisses while I still can, I kiss my kids everywhere!

Brias3 replied: I must be the odd one out sad.gif , I don't kiss my kids on the lips. We are big huggers and cheek kissers, but no lips! I don't know why- no reason really. Neither DH or I kissed on the lips with family members, even parents, when we were younger either so I guess it sorta just carried on!

Cece00 replied: Kids yes, parents no.

I will merge to cheeks as the kids get older to where they would think i'm lame for kissing on lips...around teen yrs or preteen i'm sure.

redchief replied: I still kiss all my kids... most not on the lips, except for Katie, who's a lip kisser. Unlike Lisa, though, I will not let her kiss me on the lips if she's sick. tongue.gif

CantWait replied:
rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

What a smart little man.

CantWait replied:
Why is it mom will still do that. I try not to kiss Anthony on the lips when he's sick, but he goes right for my mouth so it's hard not to. wacko.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: I guess I feel if I'm gonna get sick and thats a huge IF I will get sick anyway reguardless if I kiss them or not
So far this year I have not gotten one cold from my kids and missed out on the stomach bug that went through 2 of them smile.gif

maestra replied:
Us too- we do cheek kisses, but no lips.
