Korean Food

mckayleesmom wrote: I have never had it till the other day.....It was delicious.....Not the rice though....was more soggy then chinese people make it....but the rest was delicious. There is this little Korean lady that has a little stand (they have these stands all over post with different food)....and she serves Korean food.....She gave me samples and I loved these YOCKY (sp) things she had...they are kind of similar to egg rolls, but triangle in shape and with meat in them....YUM. And she had awsome egg rolls and this stuff called Blologogna...or something like that....its roast beef over rice.... smile.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: I do not think I have ever had Korean. I love Filipino food, though, and Chinese of course.

mckayleesmom replied: Well...we go to this Asian Buffet place with all kinds of different foods, but Im not sure if they have Korean. I doubht Ive had it before though because I usually stick to the basics

Fried rice...if it has no mushrooms
Beef and Broccoli
Chicken and Brocoli
egg roll

I was very proud of me....this is the first time Ive really branched out and tried something new...... wavey.gif

mckayleesmom replied: I use to have some friends that were Cambodian....and I would never eat at their house....No offense to anyone.....maybe it was just my friends But alot of their meat they left sitting outside on the roof to get old...and then would eat it......I don't even eat Mayo or meat that has been sitting out to long....Nope...

Dh always eats stuff that probably shouldn't be eaten because it got left out...I always tell him that if he gets the trots...don't complain.

holley79 replied: I love Korean. There was a lady that lived in the housing next to us up in Bethesda, MD that was Korean. yummy.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: That is a similiar items list for buffets around here that are Chinese, then again they may not be Chinese (except Happy China restaraunt) but Korean-- we enjoy them anyhow! yummy.gif

MM'sMama replied: I've never had Korean food before, but may have to try. thumb.gif Good for you.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: We have a Korean friend who cooks for us on occasion when we go to their house. Most Korean food is really spicy, but very yummy. yummy.gif

jcc64 replied: Dh was born in Korea- and came here when he was in 2nd grade. We naturally eat alot of Korean food. Some of it I LOVE, and some of it is nasty, imo, particularly the veggies, which tend to be often soggy and buried under some unidentifiable hot sauce.
I think the grilled meat you are referring to is called Bulgogi- and it is delicious.
Other really good Korean dishes to try:
Kalbee- Korean b-b-q ribs
Mandoo- dumplings- similiar to those found in wonton soup, but usually steamed or pan fried- big hit with kids. My boys can polish off a dozen at one time.
Bi-bim-bap- a noodle-y soup with meat, eggs, veggies
Kimchee- pickled cabbage in hot sauce (definitely not my favorite, but some people love it)
Bean cakes- a common dessert- dough with a sweet red bean paste inside
Ja ja meun (def spelled wrong)- homemade noodles with black bean sauce, onions, potatoes, and meats and/or veggies.

mckayleesmom replied:
yes Bulgogi.....its yummy.

BAC'sMom replied: Never had Korean food. Sounds good! I have only eaten Chinese and Vietnamese food.

Celestrina replied:
I LOVE kimchee! I'm not usually a fan of spicy food, but kimchee is an exception.

kit_kats_mom replied: mmmm kimchee. Love it. Got addicted when we lived in Hawaii. We ate the heck out of that stuff. tongue.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: I think this is what Chris brought home once from one of his customers. Though I am not positive. It was steamed bread that resembles plain uncooked dough with something on the inside. Though I am not sure if it was minced meat or beans. It was good, but I could not get over the steamed bread part. He loved it though.
