Kylie has an ear infection AGAIN

coasterqueen wrote: sad.gif bawling.gif sad.gif She just got done with the augmentin on Monday of last week and she started complaining about her ear hurting again last night. So Dh took her to the doc today and he said she still has the infection. sad.gif So he gave her the Z-pac for 5 days, 5 days off and then 5 days on it again. He said if she consistently keeps getting them over the next 4 or 5 months she'll have to get tubes. sad.gif bawling.gif

And to think I thought we were in the clear because she NEVER EVER had an ear infection until this past November. sad.gif

kayla's mama replied: Poor thing hug.gif Hope she gets feeling better and the meds work!!!!

C&K*s Mommie replied: hug.gif hug.gif I hope this is the last bout of ear infections for her.

Jamison'smama replied: Hope this works. We never tried the Z-pac-- hope it works for her. Does she ever have the Omicef? Hope she doesn't have side effects from all that antibiotic--push that yogurt!!! Poor baby!

coasterqueen replied:
Antibiotics tear her up. She has the worst bowel problems from antibiotics so we always have to give her acidophilus while on it. I'm not sure if she's had the omnicef or Megan did.

Jamison'smama replied: Well I guess the good thing is the magic time to grow out of ear infections is between 3-5 so anytime now. And with Spring/Summer being right around the corner you should have relief soon. Is she a good medicine taker or is that a battle as well?

amynicole21 replied: Strange that with her history they don't just jump straight to the Omnicef... we don't even bother with Augmentin at our house - it doesn't do anything. sad.gif

I'm at a loss as to why she's just starting to get them now? So weird. Does she have allergies that cause the fluid to build up?

Poor Kylie. sad.gif I know what it's like to battle these horrible things. sleep.gif

coasterqueen replied:
I'm so confused on this ear infection thing because our PED us that they are more common in toddlers than babies. I thought since she didn't have them as a baby we were in the clear. rolleyes.gif

She's a very good medicine taker, but didn't take the augmentin well. She hated that stuff.

BAC'sMom replied: I can feel for you, Callum has had 2 in the last 7 weeks. Darn allergies! growl.gif

My oldest did not have a ear infection until he was 3 1/2 years. And it has been down hill ever since. wacko.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: poor thing. I thought the same thing more commen for babies than toddlers. hope this clears it up and she does not get any more.

My2Beauties replied: I thought the same thing. Hanna had 8 of them before she was 6 months old. Augmentin never worked on her - ever. Hers were so bad she got double ones. I know how you feel Karen these things are awful and can you imagine how they feel! sad.gif Bless her heart. Hope the meds work and that she doesn't have too many bowel problems from them. Tubes aren't so bad, the surgery is really easy. But I understand you not wanting to do that, with her being at her age it seems like you would think you were in the clear. Hanna's has fallen out, so I hope I don't have this to look forward too again! I'm sorry! hug.gif

moped replied: Ahhhh poor girl.

Karen, what is augmentin? I must have been away for that

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Well I hope that she feels better soon!!! hug.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm so sorry. sad.gif Poor Kylie hug.gif I hope the z pac helps her and you won't be facing tubes in the near future. hug.gif

holley79 replied: Poor Kylie I hope that she gets to feeling better. Give her hug.gif for me.

Brias3 replied: Poor girl sad.gif Hope it clears up soon, and this time for good! hug.gif

aspenblue1 replied: Poor Kylie. I hope she feels better soon. hug.gif hug.gif

3_call_me_mama replied: HUGS! Hope it clears soon.. Oh adn I've been meaning ot ask.. what ever became of her tiptoe walking? Did you guys do teh casts? or teh braces? or did she finally jsut outgrow it. Sorry if i missed teh thread on it but I've been wondering for a while.

coasterqueen replied:
No, no problem. We decided not to do the casts or braces for now. We just couldn't bear doing it to her and she begged us not to. After talking with the doctor he said we are fine coming back next winter and discussing it again then. We are hoping she'll grow out of it by then. rolleyes.gif She's walking flat if you tell her to, so we know she can, it's more habit now than anything.

jacobsmama replied: I'm so sorry that she is sick again... hug.gif hug.gif I hope that she gets some comfort and that she gets better soon. wub.gif

kimberley replied: sad.gif poor baby. i hope she is better soon. hug.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: Oh no! Poor Kylie! Poor mom. I hope she's feeling better really soon ((hugs ))

Kirstenmumof3 replied: hug.gif hug.gif I hope she starts to feel better soon! Try not to worry about the tubes, Claudia has had them done twice and there really is nothing to the procedure and the kids are fine afterwards. hug.gif hug.gif
