Land line, cell phone, or both?

Boo&BugsMom wrote: We are considering getting rid of our land line in order to cut back on some needless spending and bills. Anyone else only have a cell phone? I hate talking on them due to the delay factor, but it would probably be more feasible to keep the cells versus only the land line. We could save about $50 a month, which for us, is huge.

Mommy2Isabella replied: Since Sal and I have been together we have NEVER had a land line!

Growing up ... we hadn't had one since I was 15 ... so its been a good 5 years smile.gif

Mommy2BAK replied:
EXACT same here. My family cut that out while I was still living at home, there is really just no point if everyone already has a cell.

Calimama replied: We have both. Our family calls more on our land line so we keep it.

MotherForever2043 replied: I use both...I NEED both happy.gif if I didn't have a land line phone, Esther and I's cell phonebill would be ohmy.gif . So I do need the land line. Plus, I pay a little amount of money for the land line. Cellphones are always good for emergencies too!

5littleladies replied: We cut to only cell phones last year. It has worked well for us and saved us money.thumb.gif A huge help for us though is that almost all of our friends and family have the same network so we don't use up our minutes too quickly. happy.gif

Crystalina replied: I would gladly get rid of our landline (since even the people who live 1/4 mile away are long distance for us dry.gif ) but my cell does not always pick up out here in the summer. In the winter the service is better because all of the trees are nekkid. biggrin.gif

moped replied: I am the only loser in the world that doesn't have a cell phone ohmy.gif

sparkys2boys replied:
Ummm, nope!!! Add me to the loser list too please!!! tongue.gif

holley79 replied: I switched to Vonage so I wouldn't be paying high landline bill any longer. We also have cell phones. I like to have a landline so if my cell phone doesn't get charged I don't have to worry about it when I'm at home.

Mom2Boyz replied: We have both, but we use our landline far more than the cell phones.

luvmykids replied: Both, partly because we get a better price for DSL and partly because I'm afraid of the cell not working in case of an emergency.

My3LilMonkeys replied:
Same here!

~Roo'sMama~ replied: We have neither. We have something like Vonage but the company we have is called Packet 8. I would way rather have cell phones but for us it would be more expensive to get a cell instead. Our phone bill is only $20 a month for unlimited calling and for us to get a cell phone would be twice as much, and if we wanted to get one for each of us it would be more like $70. dry.gif

Brias3 replied:
Us too.

I only keep the landline to have an extra back-up, but mainly because with our phone, internet and cells on one bill, we don't really even pay that much for the land line (only about $14/month) so its not a big deal. I use our cells for long-distance though, as we just have the basic package for our land one.

Anthony275 replied: both
dont really use the phone that much

coasterqueen replied: Cell phones only. We've had it that way for 6 or 7 years now and it's worked well.

Kaitlin'smom replied: We have both, we did move the land line to another carrier for 25 a months and no long distance (cells phones are used for that for free) I just could not give up the lan line, it works for some but I am way to parinoind that if something happends we would not be able to call for help fast and if Kait had to find a cell phone well not bad if I am home cause mine is always in the same plance but DH's is not she would not be able to find it to call for help if needed. To scary for me to have to worry about so I pay 25 a month for that peace of mind.

HuskerMom replied:
Might as well add me to that list too! I want a cell but Dh doesn't think we need one and sometimes I agree bc we've survived this long without one.

momtoMegan&Alyxandria replied: We have been cells only for the last 6 years. There are times I really want a land line, but then I think of the cost. They say phone companies aren't suppose to have a monolopy (sp), but there is only one carrier in my area. They say there isn't a monolopy because there are cells and digital. Just a load of BS to me. There are only 2 things I truly hate about only have cells: 1) I really need to wait til 7 (eastern) to make any long distance calls and 2) If someone is watching the kids and they don't have a cell I or DH have to leave ours for emergency calls.
The other thing that scares me is what happens if I don't get good signal anymore with all the companies changing and merging.
