Late Christmas present for me

I have been wanting a digital SLR for YEARS!!! I've been patient...really patient. I was supposed to get one for my 30th birthday and things came up and we sort of just decided it wasn't a necessity.

Scotty and I have been talking about it over the past few weeks, researching, trying to find the best deal, etc. Well, he ordered it for me today!!!!

Now I should have it in time for my trip!! I'm SO excited!!!

I wouldn't have anything other than a Canon. I got the XTi. It's equivalent to my 35mm, which I LOVE, I just want digital.

Do you have the XT or the XTi?

I think Di (Kaitlin'sMom) has the XT, too. They're both good cameras!

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Other than the megapixels, I wasn't sure what the difference was between the two so we just went with the XTi b/c we figured it was slightly newer technology.

I hope I like it! Is it pretty easy to use?

Jamison'smama replied: I have the XTI also. It is really easy to use on the basic settings. I am not great with anything else at this point. I just bought the Magic Lantern Cannon XTI book and hope to get a better understanding of the settings. A friend of mine took a basic SLR class at a camera shop here and thought it was a really great investment--I will probably do that too but since we are going on vacation in 3 weeks, I thought I would get a jump start.

BTW Aimee--if you felt someone waving at you, it was me...we traveled through your area in the late evening over Christmas---we got as close as Denison/Sherman. We spent a couple of days in Addison with SIL and Waco with my FIL.

I took a course ions ago...I guess I should pull out my paperwork and start brushing up on some stuff. It really is a good investment if you keep in practice. It's been a long time since I did anything on manual.

Jamison'smama replied: I don't think we went through there---we went via Tulsa so it was Tulsa, Denison, Sherman, Plano, Addison, Waco--then back the same way.

It's a professional digital camera. SLR just stands for single lens reflex.

booey2 replied: Congrats, you will love it. I got one before Christmas, a Nikon D40 and don't know why we waited so long, no I actually do know - it was way too much money. My mom give me it for a birthday/Christmas present. Now we are saving up to buy a new lens as we only have the one that is comparable to 3x zoom and I really want at least 11x and they run between $500 - $800. Have fun with it.
