Learn from my expereiance. - nearly broke Al's ankle
PrairieMom wrote: We went to Target today, and As I was swinging Al up from the floor to put her in the child seat in the cart Her boot fell off, and her foot slipped into that 2 inch space between the plastic of the seat, and this metal bar that goes across the top of the cart.
Her foot twisted in there and got lodged. I couldn't put her down because that would have snapped her ankle, and I couldn't lift her back out because her foot was twisted, it wouldn't slip back out. I was holding her there with my arms in the air, and she was screaming bloody murder. Of course, no one came to help us. I ended up yelling out I need help!! someone help us!! and finally 2 mommies with young children came running. It took all 3 of us to hold her / untwist her leg and get her free. It was horrible. I was so scared. I felt so bad for her.
So, after all we got her loose, I put her on the ground to see if she could stand, and I was kneeling down in front of her, and some guy comes up pushing one of those long lines of like 10 carts and ran into me. On my bad just got operated on foot.
It was a not - so - great experience.
So, just an FYI, because I never even noticed that those carts HAD a bar there, (whats it even for anyway?!)
please be careful.
PrairieMom replied: Her is a picture of a cart with the bar across similar to the cart we had, just so you can see what I am talking about.

Insanemomof3 replied: How scary!! I am glad that you got her loose. The guy hit your foot with the carts???? what a jerk!!!!
PrairieMom replied: well, really, I was down on the ground, he had no way of seeing me and i had no business being down there, so I can't say I blame him, but really, I could have been a small child standing there... Mainly it just sucked because well, it hurt pretty bad, and I was all shaken up from nearly tearing my kids leg off, so of course, there i stood, in tears like a lunatic. Dang adrenaline.
boyohboyohboy replied: well I am so glad that Al is ok..and at least you standing there in tears will probably assure that the man with the carts is much more cautious in the future..
mummy2girls replied: ohhh what a experience. I would of been so upset too!!!! How is she doing? is her foot sore?
youngmomofone replied: Oh wow I'm so glad your daughter is OK. People who didn't help you suck! Glad that you did get help once you called for it though. SOrry about your leg too
I'm always lifting my daughter up fast and putting her in the cart, though she is older and is old enough to walk by me I still put her in there since she is a slow walker and I would have had to drag her, and I never pay attention to the bar there either, so even though she is bigger I will be extra careful for now on with her and any other children.
PrairieMom replied: She seems fine, we went to kindermusik afterward and by the end of class she was acting like normal. I should check to see if there is bruising tho. I don't know what I would have done if those other mommies hadn't come to help me.
Kaitlin'smom replied: wow glad everyone is ok
punkeemunkee'smom replied: How scary! I am glad Al is OK and I hope both of your feet/ankles heal up from this bruising!
Calimama replied: That's scary!! I never even thought about that bar. I'm glad those mom's stopped and helped you. I would have been in tears too.
lisar replied: OMG that would have scared the mess out of. I am glad she is okay
luvmykids replied: Wow, I've never paid attention to that bar! I'm so glad SOMEONE finally helped you and that nobody was hurt worse

jacobsmama replied: wow!! How terrible is that!! I am so glad she is ok, sorry it was such a stinky situation.
A&A'smommy replied: awwwwww I'm sorry!!!! I'm glad she is ok and you too!!!
Danalana replied: Oh, how scary! I'm so glad you got some help
MoonMama replied: OMGOSH how scary! Poor Al, poor mommy! So glad she is ok!
