Let the nesting begin - UGH - and a question
moped wrote: So I THINK it kicked in last night when I went through clothes, started washing everything and organizing by size, wrapping christmas gifts and packing my hospital bag - anyone tell me what goes in it please? I can't remember.
Today I got a few things and ran errands, cleaning out the pantry - nasty job, cleaning the fridge, organizing the linen closets.
Tomorrow is deep cleaning as long as my back holds up
You think I am nesting?
Anthony275 replied: most likely... just dont over work yourself
boyohboyohboy replied: this last time in my hosp bag i packed, travel size of all the bathroom stuff you use.. clothes to wear home and babys outfit. need infant car seat too. camera cell phone charger pj's and lots of underware nursing pads snacks..(hosp dont have snacks)
i cant remember anything else
bawoodsmall replied: Ipod for when dh is getting on your nerve during labor.
momofone replied: shampoo and conditioner, magazines, phone numbers, hair brush. Hope everything goes nice and smoothly. and outfits for the baby.
PrairieMom replied: I brought my birth announcements so I could fill out all the info before I got home, I knew I would be crazy busy then. I had her birth picture done by a one hour place, DH brought them to me, I filled out the info, (already had the envelopes addressed) and mailed everything from the hospital. Some people probably got their announcements before we even got home.
luvmykids replied: Like Stacy said, SNACKS. I was always starving at the hospital Magazines or a book, warm socks and a robe (I was always cold too), lotion. And what everyone else mentioned, except the birth announcements I love Tara's idea, I'm just nowhere near organized enough
PrairieMom replied: I had Benjamin's out when he was less than a week old.
I can't believe your hospitals don't have snacks. ours had a full service dinette right across from our room. They served 3 hot meals a day, it was all you can eat for parents, and then there were fruits, desserts, chips, and cereal available 24 hours a day.
stella6979 replied: I LOVED my nesting period. My house was never cleaner than when I was nesting. Not too mention, I never slept so I was up til 4 in the morning at times cause I would decide in the middle of the night that I should paint something. I really can't think of anything else to bring that hasn't already been mentioned. A Toothbrush/toothpaste for sure though.
luvmykids replied: OMG I was so traumatized by my memories of being SOOO hungry after the twins that I refused to leave for the hospital when it was time for Macie until I'd eaten an entire dozen glazed donuts And after I got my tubes tied the nurses were annoyed because they brought me dinner...and I was still hungry so they brought me a chicken salad...and I was still hungry, so they finally ordered me a pizza
moped replied:
I think there was a kitchen but don't remember - actaully my sister brought me food now that I think of it!
And Tim Hortons in the morning!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh I love it! Best feeling ever!
You know the basics, like a camera, baby clothes, toothbrush...but the most important IMO are: SOCKS, lots of them, or slippers. Cold floors. Bloody socks. Wet socks (from water breaking). Dirty socks in the bed...that's what I remember pretty vividly. Must bring extra socks. A robe if you like to wander the floors and not have your tush showing. Pads, because the nurses get cranky if you ask them for more. Big panties, because the net ones are humiliating. Hair ties, to keep out the vomit. Lipgloss and blusher, so you don't have to say "did I really look that bad?" in all the photos.
Everything else they give you pretty much. Except going home clothes for both you and the baby, but I know you girl, you've got that soooo covered!
lovemy2 replied: Oh yeah - FINALLYbaby girl is coming soooooooonnnnnn
lovemy2 replied: Oh yeah sorry - forgot about YOU Mommy - I remember having all I wanted to eat at the hospital as far as snacks go - the only other thing that no one else has mentioned is things for JACK - like his present from little sis and things for him to do while he is there visiting cause no matter what they do get kinda bored of the little sibling....
A&A'smommy replied: WOOHOO nesting I don't remember doing that when I was pg with alyssa BUT yay ms. Layla is coming soon!!!
moped replied: Ok,s o thi smorning I only go the pantry done and vacuuming the main floor - the pantry took 2 hours.......
My back is hooped so hopefully I can do the linen closet after our naptime
Fridge - incomplete thus far
Tom said I woudn't be able to do all 3 - oh this is a challenge now!
Calimama replied: Tell him to get up and help!!
moped replied: In a perfect world!
moped replied: Linen closet complete!
Now to the fridge..........
moped replied: Ok, fridge done and looking super!
On to a few loads of towels!
luvmykids replied: Wow, you are on a roll! If you run out of things to do come on over
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Go, Jen. You must be nuts, I mean nesting. Congrats on finishing your list of tasks. Now rent a movie and settle down. As for packing for the hospital, everyone else packed better bags than I did. I did mine while I was in labor. Didn't forget anything important, but could have done better. But I worked in the hospital and my friends would have gotten me anything I asked for any time.
moped replied: Dinner made and a rice kirspie cake for the boys treat tomorrow........kitchen clean and no Desperate Housewives - boohoo
Calimama replied: Take a BREAK girl!!!
lovemy2 replied: Sheeez - slow down girlfriend - I don't think I even came close to doing that much nesting - although when I was almost two weeks overdue I rearranged two bedrooms and my family room furniture trying to put myself into labor
Good job girl - now really rest - you are even making me tired
moped replied: I will be done as soon as these towels are folded ad then I will bath and go to bed!
Boys r us replied: and then there will be more towels to do after your bath!
Seriously woman, you're making us non-preggos look really bad! I am so happy that you're nesting b/c that means we're a little bit closer to baby Layla!!!!!
moped replied: Well I am paying the price today - my back is HOOPED
lisar replied: I remember that. My house was so clean. DH thought I was going crazy.
My2Beauties replied: Sheesh, you're making me tired and I'm not even preggo!
Boo&BugsMom replied: Want to pass some of that nesting over here? I am so unmotivated lately. I loved nesting!!! I was painting the ceilings in our home when I was 9 months pregnant with Tanner.
Things I brought to the hospital...toiletries, loose clothing, outfit for baby to go home in, things to do while in the hospital, camera, address/phone book to call people. Actually, I didn't bring much. Our hospital also has snacks and room service you can order at anytime so I never had hunger issues. I even ordered for Troy.
Jamison'smama replied: I don't think anyone mentioned it but I brought my own pillow---it was one of the best things I did. I hate the smell and feel of the hospital pillows and it was great to have a nice soft good smelling one from home. I also used it to BF since it was fluffier and softer.
I agree with bringing your own underwear--that mesh stuff is awful. I just brought my old maternity ones and threw them out when the day was over.
I also got the lavendar/vanilla relaxation scents from Bath and Body works--I bought the pillow spray and the pulsepoint stuff. Again, I am a big scent person so it helped not to always smell the bleachy bed linens.
