Let's reminisce a bit

coasterqueen wrote: I was thinking about this this morning and it put a big smile on my face. smile.gif wub.gif What are some of the things your spouse/SO did that just melt your heart....that they don't do now? You know, all those sweet things that last for a month, two months, a few years and now barely happens wink.gif biggrin.gif

This isn't a 'bashing' post, just a reminiscing one on all the goods things they used to do.....that maybe we wish they did again wink.gif.

Okay, I'll play. biggrin.gif

When DH and I were dating I lived on my own briefly (before I had a roommate or later lived with him) I was always scared to sleep alone in my apartment. I lived in some scary places and it gave me the creeps to fall asleep knowing he wasn't there to protect me. He would always lay with me in bed til I fell asleep. wub.gif Then he'd leave and go home for the night. When I'd wake up in the morning I'd wake up to a trail of notebook paper and on each piece of paper there was a letter. It would spell something like "good morning, I love you" or just "I love you". Some times he would put them so that I would wake up, put my feet on the floor and step on the first piece of paper which would alert me to it and I'd look down and there were arrows pointing towards the kitchen/livingroom (it was just one room) and there would be a love note for me to start my day with. wub.gif I still have all those things. I saved every piece of notebook paper with each letter on it. biggrin.gif wub.gif

I think that was the best thing he used to do. It always made my day start out as a happy one. smile.gif

Other little things he did was I always had a flower in a vase in my apartment. He'd go get me flowers all the time. Most times it was a single carnation or maybe a rose, but nonetheless I always had one and it didn't matter that it was a carnation I loved them and it made me feel special that he wanted to give me one. It meant more than the expensive bouquets he's gotten me over the years (few and far between, lol).

He also gave AWESOME backrubs. I barely get a quick 'wax on, wax off' from him now. tongue.gif

Ahhhhhhhh well, I guess if we had these moments every day we wouldn't appreciate them, right? happy.gif

Still I love thinking back to these moments because they make me smile.

mommy_loves_chase replied: My boyfriend use to tell me i was beautiful a couple times a day every day he still says it just not as much, He use to always agree with me all the time too but i guess that goes away in any relatiopnship lol

mckayleesmom replied: He use to send me flowers all the time....He still brings them home sometimes.

He would buy and send me stuff from red envelope...

We use to go roller blading and stuff together....we really need to start doing things together more often without the kids.

He also would send me stuff from VS sometimes....it was a sweet gesture...but none of that stuff really accomidates my boobs....its the thought that counts though.

He still rubs my back all the time

He still buys me cards all the time too...that tell me how much he loves me and that Im a great mom and stuff.....he sends me Ecards too.

Really he still does most of everything,,,but we just lack the quality time we had together alone before we had kids....I NEED A BABYSITTER. love2.gif

TANNER'S MOM replied: Oh remember lots of little things....

Every Wednesday was a do nothing day.. we would stay home w/ our kids.. (this is when we were dating) He would show up w/ Pizza and a movie every Weds.
And he knew it was family time..and never asked to stay the night.lol

He would always check things on my car..

He pick wild flowers for me

He would call me ALOT and TAlk every nite before we went to slept..

Wanted to cuddle after *you know*

He would ask me to sit beside him in his truck and put his hand on my knee.. I still remember that feeling..oh the butterflies.
And he was very protective of me..as far as friends and different men.. I was his!

candledinner.gif candledinner.gif

Sarah&Mackenzie replied: He would hold my hand in public

We would just sit and hold each other without saying a word

Just the two of us would go out and eat dinner and see a movie

He got me very nice gifts for Christmas, Valentines Day, Birthday, Etc.

A&A'smommy replied: You know those things were SOO endearing but now I think they have different ways of saying I love you although they aren't as romantic I have learned to appreciate when he picks up after himself or takes that trash out without being told! tongue.gif

Before we got married he would stay over at my parents until 1 or 2 watching tv with me or playing on the computer and I would fall asleep at like 12 and then when he would leave he would cover me up and kiss me goodnight love2.gif

He use to write me REALLY sweet poems, and letters I have them in my scrapebook.

he use to stare at me and then tell me that he loves me and that I'm beautiful and perfect (I laughed at that one blush.gif )

moped replied: Those good bye kisses that lasted 3 hours - ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don't remember the last LONG kiss like that........the poem he wrote me after only dating a month.............

mammag replied: I miss....

Making out for hours at a time

Him looking at me the way he used to (can't explain it really)

Love letters

Cuddling when falling asleep

How he used to see me eyeing something nice at the store and just getting it for me.

luvbug00 replied: the only thing that is speical between us is the nicknames. This is going to sound sooo wierd.

He would say "hey a**"

I say "what stinky"

he'd say "your my favorite"

I say " your my favorite too"

Sounds crude at first but it started when we were just friends and it's out of love and our dry humor. love2.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: I thought about this almost all day

But things have not changed much after 21 years of being married well 22 next month wink.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Awww, well that's sweet! You can't ask for anything more when a person does all the same things in a marriage that they did in a 'courtship'. YAY ED!

coasterqueen replied:
OMG! I totally forgot about nicknames.

Dh used to call me guacamole lips and I used to call him my little bean sprout. Now I'm not sure why we used to call each other those nicknames, how we came up with them but I promise you we weren't smoking or drinking anything. laugh.gif

TANNER'S MOM replied: Randy used to call me

"pop tart" No idea why???

gr33n3y3z replied: Ed calls me Tiger and I call him Eddie Bear lol

TANNER'S MOM replied: This is way off topic..
But this is the funniest memory I have of Randy

My Dad called and said Randy was looking for me..that he was hanging out at his waiting one me.. my Dad worked 2nd shift and said he was leaving Randy and his friend there...

Well I was busy and told him to wait.. He said he wanted to go out..and he was gonna get ready..

I thought he MEANT at his house..

When I got to my Dad's house.. Randy was in my dad's big claw foot tub bathing..and his best friend TURTLE was standing in my dad utility room IRON in his FRUIT OF THE LOOMS..

I laughed so hard I almost died.. MY DAD would have feel over..thank God he was at work..lolololol

I always think of Randy in that big tub...lolol

JessC replied: WELL...

Him holding me and watching tv.

Us just talking like we use to... wub.gif BEFORE we fall asleep.

AshleyRose replied: Things are still the same and even though we have only known eachother about 2 years, I think they will always be pretty much the same.

Our nicknames for eachother are "Loo" we both call eachother it. It derived from tons of things and got cut down to just Loo and we actually call eachother Loo every day on a regular basis. Now you know where "Pea-Loo" came from, LOL. She just a pea from the Loos hahaha.

Jamielou replied:
How sweet wub.gif

mom2tripp replied: The SWEETEST thing I ever remember Sal doing is:

We had been dating for about 2 months in college and he was in a fraternity. I was supposed to meet him in front of the biggest building on campus in the middle of the quad one evening before my class. When I got there about 4 of his fraternity guys were there and I was like "HEY what are ya'll doing here?" They said, oh we have a meeting tonight and we're just meeting here before walking over and I was like that's weird I'm supposed to meet Sal here!
Well they kept coming and coming soon they were about 20 of them there and then they started playing music, guitars, etc.

Sal walked from behind a bush and sat with me on the steps and they all sang Brown Eyed Girl to me bawling.gif
